I did unlock the extended Rom. But it still doesn't work. I'll have a look at it. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong.
Happened to me the first time too - re-lock the Extended ROM after installed.
Another way is to drop the HimalayaSplashImage CAB into the extended ROM & edit the config file to reference it. Add it as last item.
I got it to work.
Installed extended Rom unlocker, soft reset, then install the splash Cab.
Working perfectly.

After playing with the Qtek test ROM for a while, I thought I'd "revert" to a stable release. I grabbed one of the 1.6.7 RUU files (with GR near the end) off the ftp site and installed it. When the MDA rebooted, I got a message about how I'd illegally acquired the ROM and it froze my MDA. Thank GOD that using the bootloader and another RUU installer I was able to recover it.
First, why would the ROM jack me like that? I've used aWizard previously to CID unlock my MDA? Can it relock?
Second, the "screwy" ROM would load, but fail after the customizations were applied and the soft reset occurred. Is there any key combo you can hold down to prevent the Wizard from executing the customizations script? Thanks!!!
Just as it says Customisations will be loaded after 3 seconds press the soft reset button. The device will reset without the extended rom and the customisations within being reinstalled.
Got it. Thanks.
Hi there, my G4 qtek is stuck on the splash screen. It happened when I was flashing it and it got disrupted.
I have tried flashing it with the original software whilst in bootloader mode, activesync process terminated and no sd card or antivirus software running.
Does anyone have any pointers?
Thanks!

Have you tried the wizard love rom?
no - what will that supposedly do?
Just make sure that your battery is fully charged! ActiveSync shouldn't bother, so, there is no need to deactivate it!
Unpack your shipped ROM with WinRAR, get the nbf file and try to use the noid flash utility for the flashing process! (The noid upgrade utility should be part of Molski.Biz HTC Wizard Custom Rom Cooking Pack at www.molski.biz
I've just upped my IPL/SPL to 3.08, GSM to 2.69.11, and I'm about to try out Faria's WM6 ROM, but I'd like to backup my initial boot screen before I do- I'm not sure if I still have the image located anywhere else and would rather not re-author it!
I've already backed up the welcomehead.96.png file for the second splash screen, but I'm up against a wall trying to pin down how I can back up the inital splash screen! Any and all help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!

If you have your original ROM backed up, just use wizard service tools and run the nbf to nb tool. When you run that it will seperate it all out in to its constituent parts. 9d000000-HTC is the first splash screen, 92000000-Splash is the second splash screen and the welcomehead.96.png is actually the third splash screen. I just can't figure out why you would need to back those up.
I wanted to back them up so I'd have them to employ in my new Faria ROM instead of the splash screens included. As I mentioned, I'm not sure that I have the initial splash screen saved anywhere, so instead of reauthoring it, it would have been convenient to have a backup.
However, since I didn't get a reply before flashing (impatience!) the splash screen is gone, anyways. I do have a "myrom" .bin backup from WizBackup, though- any chance I could pull my splash screen out of there to your knowledge?
All you have to do is download the ROM you had on there from your service provider and then use wizard service tools just like I told you how to do in my first post here and you'll be able to extract the first 2 splash screens out of it. Getting the 3rd splash screen out of it is doable, but a lot more complicated and since you said that you already have it backed up I won't go into that anyway.
Here's some AT&T splash screens that I found. I have no idea if they are the ones you had before or even what they look like but you're welcome to try them out and see if you like them or not. Just run the RUU and it will install them for you.
I'm sorry, perhaps the miscommunication here is that I totally customized/modified/created/crafted/digitally graphically enhanced 2 of the 3<?> splash screens the Wizard shows on booting... I'm not looking for the stock Cingular and WM screens. I was looking to back up my CUSTOMIZED splash screens- sorry, thought I had mentioned that... I'll try and pull apart my WizBackup .bin and see if I can dig the initial splash screen I'm looking for out of that, I guess...

oh, I understand. I didn't realize you had done them yourself. Hopefully they're in your wizbackup.bin then. Good luck.
In this case of my O2 XDA orbit 2, I wanna change the first screen when starting up (the bootscreen, shows an O2 image with firmware, radio, rom info, etc, version info in the corner).
I've already searched and all I could find was info for changing the second splash screen and the option for having an animated image.

So I'm asking once and for all for me and others as well. Can it be changed and if so how?
Try Advanced Configuration Tools 3.3.0
Download link:
http://www.touchxperience.com/downl...ion-tool/Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v3.3.cab
to enable, disable, change boot screens etc..
personally I did not test it I Use the Tool Above for other purposes, but I saw there is also this option...
..........OR...........
Just use the artemis splash screen tool 0.7.1
It is a .NET Framework 3.5 application - you need the Microsoft runtimes.
Also do not forget the USPL flash
For me.. when i upgraded to different ROMS.. it automatically changed all the tym.. so now the default blue o2.. is nowhere..

Hello,
New owner of the HTC Touch HD, and love it!
But...
I was attempting to flash Dutty's WinMo 6.5 R4 ROM. I followed all the instructions, yet now I'm stuck.
Whever I boot the phone, it gets stuck on the black "Smart Mobility" screen. In the bottom left corner, it shows the following info:
R 1.14.25.24
G 52.64.25.34U
D 1.59. dutty
I've tried hard resets, and they don't do anything. I can't connect to Windows Mobile Device Center (ActiveSync), so I can't re-flash any old ROMs.
Any help/advice? Have I bricked my phone?
did you flash the ROM without flashing your SPL to 1.56 (or using USPL)? from the power off position, hold the down-volume key, briefly press the power button and see if your device boots to the tri-color screen. from there, post the values that appear on that screen. if your device boots to the tri-color screen, then you can reflash a stock ROM from your laptop/PC.

How long does it stay on the black screen?
it usually takes awhile on first load up to 5 minutes sometimes longer
Can you get into Bootloader? (tricolour screen)
if you can you may have simply had a bad flash it does happen just reflash see what you get, but you need to be patient
You may want to post what steps you took so we can see if you missed something
Well...

Never mind, found it...
Not quite...
Well, I've gotten it back to the stock ROM. Unfortunately, I can't seem to flash to a custom ROM. I've tried everything in the Step-By-Step guide. It keeps giving me error message [260].
As much as I'd love WiMo 6.5, I'd rather enjoy using the device.
So I guess I'll stick with the stock ROM for now.
But thanks for the help on getting it working again!

if my memory is correct, that's a USB error and i believe i disabled USB sync in ActiveSync or WMDC to complete the flash process from my laptop. now, assuming you've Hard SPL'd your device with the 1.56 SPL, which is required for WM 6.5 ROM then you can still flash via the microSD card. in the ROM package you downloaded, you should see a file named BLACIMG.nbh or ruu_signed.nbh. (1) copy the file to a microSD (2) make sure the file is named BLACIMG.nbh (3) put the microSD card in your phone (4) boot your phone to the tri-color screen and you can flash a custom ROM.
My HD also gets stuck on that starting screen "smart mobility".
But i have the problem allways after a past restoring by sprite backup.
If i restore with "merge" the progs installed on the memory card will not start. Progs in ROM are ok.
If i restore with "replace" the HD and all progs on ROM and memory card are working properly. Fine! BUT on the next soft reset the HD will hang in the described starting screen and needs a hard reset of course followed by a new sprite restoring of an older backup file.
It sucks! And i'm not able to save new backups because on the backup process sprite will soft reset the HD.
I have still the original HTC ROM and radio ROM and my storage card is ok.
It must be a sprite problem, or better a problem of the registry modified by "replace"
Any hints?
Couldn't find a solution with sprite backup. But SPB backup works fine.

restoring a backup from one ROM to a different ROM is not advised, especially if you're flashing with custom ROMs. the backup could be overwriting/adding/modifying registry values that are critical to the new ROM. if you're wanting to quickly reinstall programs, etc., after a ROM flash consider using SHASAMI...
As stated above it is ill advised to perform a full restore after you have flashed to a different rom version as you'll be modifying registry settings which could make your phone not function correctly. Only use SPB Backup, Sprite & Rescop Backup for rstoring emails, contacts and nothing else.
If you are looking to restopre everything safely use SASHIMI
