Active Sync Problems After WM5 Installation - HTC Typhoon

Did the WM5 install, worked flawlessly, however, activesync 4 will not communicate with my c500. It wont detect it atall.

Look at device manager in your pc with the phone connected. If you find there a strange device, delete it. Then unplug your phone, wait a couple of seconds and plug it again. Your pc will detect it again and choose the correct driver.

After Hard Reset, cannot ActiveSync !

When I first got my Wizard, I plugged it in through USB when ActiveSync installed, and right away the green wheel started spinning, no problems.
Now, after the hard reset:
I plug in my device... ActiveSync doesn't do anything. Stays grey.
Windows recognizes a "Windows Mobile device" but doesn't know what drivers to install, so it appears in the Device Manager as an unrecognized device.
This is the same on two different computers, two different USB cables, latest version of ActiveSync 4.1, upon which ActiveSync worked perfectly before the Hard Reset.
Tried removing all profiles in ActiveSync.
Un-installed and re-installed ActiveSync.
Removed the device from the Device Manager.
I'm losing my mind here...!

Activesync error

Hi, by mistake I connected my phone to my computer before installing the software. Now it doesn't recognizes the device even after i installed the software for it.
Any help!!! Somebody pls...
Try connecting the phone to your computer (I'm assuming that you're using Windows XP), and then going into device manager and right clicking on your phone and uninstalling it. Remove the phone. Make sure that ActiveSync is running and try plugging in your phone again.

Wizard Not Syncing To Windows XP Computer

I am having trouble getting my Wizard to communicate with a computer running Windows XP and ActiveSync 4.5. It's been awhile since I've synced it to an XP machine, as the one I primarily use is Vista, and it seems to work fine. When I plug it in it either sees it as an internet connection, or if I disable the advanced connection settings on my device it seems to install it correctly, but then it doesn't open up ActiveSync.
I'm running a custom WM6 rom that I installed about a year ago, and was looking to upgrade, which I hear XP is the most reliable for. Any idea what the problem could be? I also don't seem to be able to open Activesync by itself when the device is not installed, could it be a problem with the program itself on my XP machine?
yes
It must be the problem on the xp machine unisntall the activesync reset your pc... reinstall it and then i suggest you... if you will upgrade make a hardreset before plug your device to sync.
Well, that got ActiveSync working again on the PC, the icon showed up on the bar and I was able to open the program. But as soon as I plugged in my device, the program closed again, and now it won't open. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling again, but I got the same result. Any other suggestions?

[Q] PC won't recognice my Wildfire.

My PC won't find my Wildfire. The problem I have is that it recognices my phone as a "unknown usb device" and I won't be able to transfer stuff between the SD-card and the PC (very annoying as I can't really move music).
I'm running Cyanogen Mod (the stable released 12th of december but had this problem for a while now). It's rooted with unrevoked and the HBOOT usb drivers won't work (reinstalled vista on my pc).
So what should I do?
When you plug your wildfire in, up in the top left hand corner(on the notification bar) you should see two little icons pop-up, One will be telling you that you have connected your phone to a power source and it is now charging, the other allows you to turn on usb file transfer.
Drag down you notification bar and click the one that says something like "file transfer" and it should open a new window... there should be a button at the bottom of the page which allows you to toggle the file transferring on and off, remember to turn it off before you take your phone out, or it will bug the next time and you'll have to reboot your phone and your pc to get it working
Hope this helps,
note* if this doesn't work there is a driver you can download which might make it recognise it, but I believe the above solution should work for you!
Edit:
If you still can't find it i'll upload a screenshot when I get home
try installing the hboot drivers again.
that solved it for me when my phone wouldn't be recognised, funny thing was it stopped recognising after i was charging my auntie's ipod. LOL
I would reinstall the drivers but it doesn't show up as a "Android Device" (or what it's called) in device manager.
I don't even have HBOOT USB as an option on the bootscreen. (with the USB plugged in)
UPDATE: Installed and uninstalled HTC Sync to get the drivers. Still an unknown usb device on which I can't install the special HBOOT drivers and still no HBOOT USB on boot screen even when plugged in.
If your phone is rooted, HTC sync could be your problem.
Had the same problem.
This is how I solved it, from the HTC support page:
Tips 1:
If you cannot see the HTC Sync option when you connect your phone to the computer via USB, please follow the
Instructions below:
1. Make sure you select USB Debugging in Settings > Applications > Development before connecting your phone to the computer
2. Connect you Phone to the PC and wait 20 seconds for your phone to install HTC Sync on your phone.
3. Unplug the USB sync cable. Wait for 5 seconds. Reconnect the Phone to the PC using the USB cable.
4. Select “HTC sync” and wait for HTC Sync to recognize your Phone. This process could take up to a minute your first
time connecting to the computer.

Or just install pdanet on both computer and phone, it will automatically install the drivers too. After that you can easily uninstall pdanet from both computer and phone, the drivers will stay installed.
hello, I had the same problem, cm since I upgraded to, I can not sync my windows with wildfire, and I found an alternative way to synchronize your PC and the wildfire MyPhoneExplorer excellent! really good!
I'm having the same problem, I can't access my Wildfire through my PC.
My PC recognizes the device but I can't access the SD-Card as it says 'Please insert a disk'. It's just charging, no option to establish a connection to the disk drive.
I tried several things, including the USB-debug mode which didn't work out. With MyPhoneExplorer I have a connection to my phone (can see calls, messages and memory status) but when I want to view the files on my SD-Card it pops up an error message saying "OBEX protocol couldn't be initalized! Phone didn't answer'.
Please help me how to connect my Wildfire again!

OK, i somehow figure it out by myself:
all I had to do is rebooting my device, after that everythings is working just fine! Thanks for nothing
You should have tryed that before asking. It's common sense.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using Tapatalk
try and install HTCDriver_2.0.7.17 in the root of ur phone!

[Q] connectivity windows seven

When I plug in my Htc Glacier w7 automatically installs drivers for the phone. Upon inspection the drivers are for remote NDIS internet sharing. So great i can tether super easy, and all. The problem lies in the fact that i have no way of accessing the SD card. even when i mount the SD card on the phone it fails to show up on the computer. The SD card works fine, and the phone works fine. I have all the usb drivers for the mt4g but i never get a chance to apply them. If i got to update drivers it says its already up to date even when i point it right at he usb driver folder. If i uninstall the drivers and unplug then replug in the device they are just automatically reinstalled, not giving me a chance to do anything else. Just upgraded to w7 from xp64 this is the only major problem i am having.
Just in case you haven't tried, in settings check under connect to pc, and you should have the choice to turn the phone into a portable hard drive or something like that... can't say what the exact wording is on the phone, as I'm not running stock anymore and the connect to pc sub-menu isn't there anymore.
