midhal

This is what I did;
1 Start / Settings / Connections Tab / Connections / Tasks / My ISP / Add new connection / Enter a name - Type whatever you want to call the connection, / Select a modem - scroll down to Cellular Line (GPRS) / Next / AccessPoint Name - internet / User Name - web / Password - web / Advanced button - check Use server-assigned IP address / Ok / Finish.

Try this it worked for me straight away http://www.expansys.com/forumthread.asp?code=108654&thread=31&man=IMATE
extract from the forum
OK got it now, after speaking to a very nice lady at Vodafone!
For GPRS internet connection for UK Vodafone sim cards, there are two categories: Pay as you Talk and Contract
Navigate to the usual screen: Start>Setting>Connections>Connections>
Add a New Modem to My ISP (use Cellular Line (GPRS)
For CONTRACT:
- APN: internet (lowercase)
- User: web (lowercase)
- Pwd: web (lowercase)
For PAY AS YOU TALK
- APN: pp.vodafone.co.uk(lowercase)
- User: web (lowercase)
- Pwd: web (lowercase)
leave anything else blank!
For me, what I was getting wrong was using APN: internet instead of pp.vodafone.co.uk!
Hope this clarifies the issue!

Connection to vodafone uk internet

I have just purchased a k-jam and I am on a vodafone uk contract and I am not being able to connect to the internet. Can someone give me any advice on the necessary connection methods. Vodafone are not being of any help.
Assuming you have GPRS etc enabled on the SIM and its a contract SIM
use the following:
username: web
password: web
APN/Access Point Name: internet
Should work fine..
The best way to go online with your contract is to use GPRS. This is very easy to set up on the Wizard.
Firstly click Settings
Then click the Connections tab at the bottom
Next select Connections
Under My ISP, choose 'Add a new modem connection'
Give the connection a name (e.g. Vodafone GPRS) and select the modem type as 'Cellular Line (GPRS)'. Then click next.
Now enter the 'Access Point Name' as internet and click next.
Now enter the User Name as web and the password as web and finally click finish.
That should do it. Now open internet explorer and enter a web page and you should be ok. You will, of course, have to setup your e-mail settings separately.
Hope this helps
Hi,
Just unzip this and Install the Vodafone CAB.
Hi tried installing Vodafone_UK_PAYT.CAB on my XDA Mini S, goes through the install ok, but for some reason it doesn't seem to add any of the settings
Any ideas why? Does it need the k-kam ROM or some additional settings from this for it to work?
thanks in advance
Graeme
i wouldn't bother with the cab file at all. just set it up manually.
there is a good tutorial on vodafone web site:
http://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispat...&_pageLabel=Page_BOS_PDA_Guide&pageID=GM_0302
the salient points are:
dial:
*99#
post dial string:
+cgdcont=1,"ip","internet"
speed setting:
57600
untick:
wait for dialing tone
stop bits set to 2
user name:
web
password:

Help needed on GPRS settings

Sorry - posted this originqlly as wifi and not GPRS
Currently in Andorra about to go to france then spain and trying to get my Wizard to work on GPRS using an easy mobile sim.
The settings are shown on...
https://www.easymobile.com/selfcare/emcontent/cust_services/customer_intro.html#11
as....
GPRS
Account name – eM GPRS
Homepage – http://wap.easyMobile.com
User name – leave empty
Password – leave empty
Access point settings
Proxy – Enable
Proxy address - 149.254.201.135
Proxy port – 8080
Data bearer – GPRS
Bearer settings
GPRS access point – data.uk
Authentication type – Normal
User name – user
Password - one2one
And I could not get it to match the setup on my device.
The only place I could see a port setting for a proxy was on the modem set up.
Can anyone show how these should be arranged in the format shown in the spec of my phone shown below (UK Tmobile)
Thanks in advance
I tried easymobile customerservices from france and they told me to call the local french company (which flicks between bouygtel and orangefrance with sfr banned) but i dont speak french and there is nothing about it on either of their sites - i am now in andorra - but the internet cafe i am in has no java enabled so I cannot try for better luck on the easymobile CS chat help page.
I guess the asking the local co is **** as my tmobile settings were working when i got here without change but i had never set my phone up for easymobile before I left - but i guess it is those settings that would work and the CS person had less of a clue than me!
My Tmobile sim is still in france - and i guess i will have buggered the settings to get Tmobile roaming too as I tried so many things - so even more in a hole.
HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!

WANTED: JasJam help needed in Sydney, Australia

I bought an i-mate JasJam secondhand off eBay recently which has all the Telstra stuff preloaded. However I have a 3G contract with Optus and need to set it up to access the internet via 3G and my work Exchange Server email.
I can probably get someone else to take care of the Exchange Server side of the email issue, but I was wondering if there was anybody in the North Sydney area in Australia who could help me out with upgrading to the latest ROM/software/firmware? I'm happy to pay for your time, normally I'd work this out for myself but I'm flat out at the moment and don't seem to be able to get my head around how to do it with any degree of confidence.
Any help with answering these questions would also be greatly appreciated:
1. If I have a capped BlackBerry plan with Optus, is the data usage still capped with a JasJam?
2. Should I upgrade to Windows Mobile 6?
Please contact me via email rod.wilson(at)prosperion.com.au.
thanks in advance
Rod
Im in sydney but a bit too busy atm to help.
If you follow this guide http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=37&Itemid=26
word for word you dont need to actually understand anything.
Thank you, that guide couldn't have made it any easier!! I was just put off originally from all the threads about upgrading and I wanted to make sure that I got it right so I didn't end up killing the device.
By the way for those trying to access the internet through Optus 3G, I found these settings at http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=701331:
Ok the settings. You need to select My ISP from the connections settings. Once you have this, you will need to set up TWO (2) Connections under MY ISP.
You Name one, 'OPTUS MMS' ... with access point name of 'mms', and another one with name 'Internet' ... with access point name 'internet'.
Now you need to actually set up the MMS email account. Go to Messenging, then to Tools and Options, select MMS and then the Servers tab at the bottom of the page. Create a new one with the following settings:
Server Name: Optus
Gateway: 61.88.190.10
Port : 8070
Server Address: mmsc.optus.com.au:8002 ... make sure you put HTTP:// before it ... the post takes this out
Connect Via: My ISP
Sending Size: 100K
WAP Version : WAP 2.0
Ok now set that as the DEFAULT.
THATS IT, you ready to go. Now there is one catch. You will need to alternate MY ISP from using Internet and Optus MMS connections so that it will work.
Go to Setting, Connections TAB, Connections, Manage existing and then alternate between which one you wish to use (IE Internet for the net (WAP), and Optus MMS for MMS).
Click to collapse
thanks again

3g settings

HI i want to use 3g wap for my universal does anyknow how to get the settings thanks well appriciate
You have to ask your phone provider for the settings. I have Vodafone, and I got the settings from them. Each provider has their own settings so you have to ask them
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/software/htcp3600.html
the application at the bottom of that page should have the settings for your network provider. I've used that on the universal for Three UK and everything works perfect.
thanks aLLOT worked like a treat this topic should be pinned some people may need the settings
That link isn't working now unfortunately, can anybody cut/paste their three network settings?
Stu,
Any chance you can share the settings for Three UK. I'm just about to get a Nokia 6120 on X-Series. I'd obviously like to use my Universal on this too.
As someone else has mentioned, the link is dead.
Cheers
Settings for 3 UK on the Universal:
GPRS settings....
Modem - Cellular Line (GPRS , 3G)
APN - three.co.uk
Username - leave blank
password - leave blank
Domain - leave blank
MMS Settings....
IN MESSAGING.....Menu > Tools > Options Click *MMS
Select servers tab.....Create new server called 3 MMS
Gateway - mms.three.co.uk
Port - 8799
Server address - http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc
connect via - My ISP
Size Limit - 200K
Wap version - 2.0
There is a piece of software that will do it all for you as well for most worldwide providers (can't remember the name as am a bit drunk) but have it on the flash on me phone. Will extract it and attach it when one is sober.
HTH.

Cheers Doc.
Much appreciated.
The 'settings file' would be nice to have too when you have time to get round to it.
As promised:
Net wizard. a handy utility that sets up all the necessary gprs and mms settings for most providers worldwide.
Useage Instructions: Unpack and drop the contents of the net wizard folder in your windows folder and it'll appear in your settings section somewhere.

Awesome.
Cheers mate.

SOS!! My HD2 cannot connect to web on O2 "Problem Solved"

Hi all,
I've got my sim-free HD2 from superetrader uk. But after inserting my o2 sim, I got a really big problem that I can't get to web!!
I used "O2" network settings found by HD2 automatically. But it always said
"Cannot Connect
Dialed: mobile.o2.co.uk
Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To check your connection...blahblah"
when I tried to access 3G.
I've tried many ways suggested on the internet, including removing username and password in the connection settings, adding DNS ip, and even using hard reset. But thay can't work at all.
But my sim does work well(accessing 3G) in my HTC HD(that rom supports 3G and connection settings are with blank username, password and DNS).
I nearly suspect there is a manufacturing problem with my phone.
Plz help me! I've struggled for 2 days and gonna explode!!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
To find a solution, please go to #6. Thanks!
can you try to go on the o2 site using your pc and download the settings to your phone via mms/sms
are you a payg customer
are you using pay as you go?
if so on my mates phone on O2 it downloads the wrong connection settings when it does the automatic setup and you need to edit them to get it to work
Find and edit the right name for your accesspoint.
At german o2 it is APN (Zugriffspunkt) : webmobil1
Thank you all!!
You helpful guys all hit the point!!
Exactly I am a pay & go user.
After I got your replys, I asked my friend who also uses O2 pay&go with S1. He told me a different APN. Then I tried and it worked!!
So it's right a wrong access point name setting problem.
THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH AGAIN!!
Here are my correct connection settings for UK O2 PAY & GO USER WITH A SIM FREE HD2 if you undergo a pain with accessing internet:
Settings - Wireless controls - Menu - Connections - Add a new modem connection
[you can delete all other connections first if you only use o2 mobile internet]
Enter a name for the connection: mobile web (whatever you like)
Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
Next.
Access point name: payandgo.o2.co.uk
Next.
User name:
Password:
Domain:
(These three items are all left BLANK)
Advanced...
(Just use the default settings)
Finish.
OK.
OK.
Close.
Now it works.
Alternatively, you can use automatic config by choosing O2 from network database of HD2. Then you can just manage the connection "moblie web" by changing access poing name to payandgo.o2.co.uk and deleting both username and password.
Hope that's clear!
Thank you loads! I was having the same problem and thanks to this post I managed to sort it! Nice to know the automatic O2 settings thing works about as well as a chocolate teapot!
Again thanks
