Ok, i konw there's already been several threads here about downgrading from the wm2003 rom (4.01.16ENG from the rom kitchen to be precise) but i can't seem to get this thing anywhere... as i said i upgraded the rom to the one specified above and found it far slower and unstable than the ppc2002; I wanted to flash the xda with the old rom but there's this strange communicate saying that the connection has been suddenly closed and the "programme a" stops. i tried to flash the old rom directly to the device using the xdatools but also with no success... it keeps on saying that it couln't communicate with the remote application... well then i thought about this bootloader fix (still unsure what bootloadre i have because i can't get the info anywhere) and it said that the memory on the device is write protected.... :/ well, and as for now i am waiting for a sd card to try that, but.... tell me, will the xdatools prepare the card if i insert it into the device? (i have no card reader for my pc) i am woried because each action i take (except normal device usage - activesync, copying and moving files, installing appz) that messes with the roms, shuts down the connection and i have to unplug the device from my pc and plug it again... please help me, i'm in dire need!
I am having a similar problem with the same rom version. I wish i never used that version! I did an update to wm2003 earlier and i could go back and forth with no problems, but this one is a real nasty one!!
the message i get when using osimagetool:
ERROR: GetConnectionType - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the rem
ote host.
error getting connectiontype
I am having the same problem ..
and when i power on/off the device it says (Unrecognized Card)
Enter the name of the device for this card. For information, see the card manufacturer's documentation.
and there is a place where i can write something (Unknown card in socket 1)

How about the phone? I cannot seem to turn it on. When the pin screen comes up it says i should turn on the phone, but i cant dothat anywhere..
Hi All,
The best option for ROM upgrade is always the SD method ... it's much easier and safer. XDAtools doesn't work with some ROMs because of the boot loader version not the ROM itself.
So what do you say guys? will i be able to downgrade it from the sd card? - and first of all, prepare the card having it inserted into the xda itself and using xdatools? i also wish i had never used it, the newest ppc2002 rom from o2 is just soo cool comparing to the wm2003 one i'm stuck with right now...
AS I sit here staring at my cute little Wallaby in it's cradle with a nice desktop, I long for 20/20 foresite. I can sync with my PC and and do anything I want as long as I don't want to make a phone call or take it off its cradle. I have been all over this web site and the web in general looking for a solution to the 1% GSM Failure Upgrade problem. I have tried every written idea and approach with no success. I am sharing my conclusions here with no particular hope of an answer.
It seems a low battery may cause the error in the first place. The first upgrade attempt got me to 16% and hang. I reset and got to 6%. Third time it was 1%. Once the battery is low the GSM processor shuts down. The GSM processor controls the battery charge. You can not upgrade the Radio Stack if the GSM processor is shutdown Even a new battery does not seem to reset the GSM as there is a software switch that seems to have been set. I have read some vague reference to a serial cable and hyperterminal used by TMobile techs to "reset" but no real details.
I am moving on with my life as Wallaby is dead.... I miss you, baby.
Have you tried this method?

Yes I saw this solution straight away and have tried it and several variations, but now that I review it I have a question. The wallaby's battery is completely dead so after the reset I must put it in the cradle for it to start up. It then produces the 1% again ala step 8. Now what am I supposed to do? Take it off the cradle and put it back on? That would cause AS to start. Are you suggesting the GSM upgrade will take place WITH the error message right on screen?. That would be super! I'll try it right now.

One other note. The developers ROM v1.1 will not active sync with my PC. Neither will v1.2. All the other STD roms I've tried will though. Any idea about that?
getting the image to run from the SD card
problem: radio stack upgrade failed (using the siemens upgrade) and now I get a GSM error and eventually a partial pocket pc desktop with no start menu or access to an explorer window.
OK, I used xda tools to copy the rom to the SD card (1GB card), inserted in the wallaby, held the power and soft reset the device, I get the boot loader v5.15 and then a GSM Error. From there, nothing. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong? Does the SD card need additional files or should it be formatted a certain way? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Getting image to run from SD card
Charles,
If you search this site you will find many descriptions of how to load an image from the SD card. Sounds to me as if you did not get a valid rom image on the the card cause the boot loader should rcognize it and ask you if you want to copy it.
The bigger problem is the PDA rom does NOT fix the GSM rom, which is the one that is hosed.
I am now in week three after I killed my Wallaby and I am having severe withdrawal pains. I did not realaize how much I depended on it. Can anyone tell me where I can sent it to have the GSM/Radio stack fixed?
I have found how to flash radio via rs232 cable, but i need program monitor.exe (pc monitor ver 6.5.7) to do this. I can't find it. Does anyone have this program or know where i can download it?
Sorry for my english, I'm from Poland
Hi
I am new here and i have problem
When i turn on my qtek9000, i recieve message Serial V.100.
If i connect USB cable it displays USB instead of Serial.
This happened when i tried to do radio upgrade (through usb hub, sim and sd were also in phone...).
I have 1gb SD card and also card reader mounted in laptop, so transfering files should not be problem.
Can someone help me with step-by-step procedure how to make my qtek work back. I used a lot of search but i am even more confused....
I just remember that when qtek worked Radio was something like 1.0.3.1 and also WWE was writen somewhere....
Probably i should put rom to sd with ntrw (which wersion of both),.......
please help....
might be a dumb question on my part - but have you tried a reset (initially a soft one but then a hard one of course, if nothing else works...) ???
I mean you will at least be able to revert back to the condition 'out of the package'...
Hope everything works out!
jup.both things NOT HELPED
looks like you're stuck in the bootloader mode....
try flashing the rom & the radio rom once again by connecting it to your laptop's usb...
i guess something screwed up while you were upgraging your radio rom...and you'd need to redo it!
Best,
San
can you please write me a procedure?
You might want to check the following thread. Everything is well described.

I have solved problem with Radio upgrade. I am in much better mood now. 8)
Anyway i have 4 more questions.
1.) I am using bluetooth car-instalation Parrot CK3100. I am wondering if is possible to transfer any other sound except telephone conversations to that device. When i had Nokia 9500 i was able to hear every single click,tone,...i made on phone also on car-instalation. I also heard nokia ringtone in car instalation. With qtek i am getting generic car-instalation ringing tone instead of phone ringing. Otherwise primary intention (hands free talking) works fine. I would like to have that to be able to hear voices from various GPS software.
2.) Since QTEK9000 is PDA and phone in single unit I would like to have in car GPS application "always on top". Like previously mentioned i can easily manage my calls with car-instalation. Therefore i would like to run Phone section in background or GPS applications on top.I hope you will understand what i would like to say
3.) I also need in-car holder for qtek. Do you have any reccomendations?
4.)
My settings:
R: 1.04.02
G: 42.37.P8
D: 1.13.64.WWE
Is that ok or should i upgrade?

Hi guys,
Got stuck in bootloader mode following an upgrade attempt. Tried to reflash radio using the files from the pload folder only to get an error saying it's for the wrong device - tried this several times with the same result.
any ideas?
Is there a binary and a tool I can just do a straight upload?
thanks

2. hope it flashes it
S
Thanks DreamTheater
Thanks for your help - unfortunately I got the same message, ie this rom is not meant for this device etc...
Will see O2 can do anything (who's that laughing...???) - was going to buy a new xda mini anyway...!
1. REMOVE your SD/MMC card.
2. Soft/hard reset.
3. Run the upgarde again.
Step 1 above solved my problem.
I am new of the forum, I have just purchased a nm8 used magiacian (t-mobile MDA) it is I bring a problem.
The preceding owner has begun an updating of the rom that has not gone to good end and the device doesn't now set out anymore and from the following error:
USB V1.00 (if connected USB).
Serial V1.00 (if disconnected).
Bootloader mode ?
What must I do for going on?
I hope in a help
Best regards Luca
help
I pray you helped me, the first post is from beginners, but believe I have followed the standard procedure.
unloaded the rom
unloaded no-id
always tried upgrade more times failure.
HELP !
for the beginning you should use a standard ROM to get familiar with the device.
just go to the t-mobile website, downloads, chose your device type and then look for files named softwareupdates or so.
they will be in zip-format.
there will be an application in there. just go into bootloadermode, connect your device and start the upgrade. it's completely guided and will last about 20min.
although most of the ppl that read/write in this forum didn't install the eROM, I think you can start with all the cusomization stuff. If you have become more familiar with your mdac, you can try other modified ROM's.
just ask if you have more questions
greetz Stefan
i have to say that using standard rom (jam rom downloaded from club imate)
the upgrading applications hangs.....
and leave magician in booting mode, ready to be erased....
i was desperaded, but last experiences with motorola phones and its firmwares advice me to try again
so i had to launch againg that apps and it starts erasing actual rom....
i think there is a bug in few roms.... may be only in its installer
Have tried with the T-mobile rom but doesn't even go with that!
Caslu,
Have you tried a hard-reset?
If so: I guess you've got a decent TMO magician rom downloaded. So get maupgradeut_noid.exe from the ftp. Extract all the files from your TMO shipped-rom & put them in a directory, so you get some .nbf files, enterbl.exe & maupgradeut.exe. Now put the maupgradeut_noid.exe in the same directory. Connect your magician to the usb. It should read usb v1.00, if your magician isn't in bootloader press camera&power&soft-reset at the same time for a few secs. till you get the usb or serial reading.
After connecting it to the usb execute the maupgradeut_noid.exe twice, first execute might give an error 120 second should finish.
If this fails make sure you got a magician & not a charmer.
If it's a magician return it, cause I think it's broken. Hey why buy a device that's in an inconclusive state??
Regards, M
I think really that It broken.
Have picked it because little cost!

Download the latest shipped ROM for the country your magician was first sold in.
Ensure Activesync is in the normal mode (USB check is ON).
Run the executable ROM update program.
Hello,
Here's some concrete work from the IMEI update project.
Please use the attached file and report your findings here.
Instructions:
1. Extract the ZIP
2. Run the file iWizard
3. Make sure ActiveSync is running and your phone is connected via USB
4. Make sure Windows Mobile has finished booting
5. Click "Next" in iWizard, let it work (shouldn't take more than 10 seconds)
Let us know:
1. If iWizard worked:
a. The model of your phone
b. The IMEI # and checksum codes if you like (you can PM for your security)
2. If iWizard failed:
a. How it failed
b. Any error messages, or screenshots of failure
c. The model of your phone
The goals of this alpha release are as follows:
1. To determine which HTC phone models work with our method
2. To determine the algorithm of the IMEI checksum codes so we can update
Thanks for your interest!
Don't get too excited - this alpha release does NOT change your IMEI yet. That is coming soon, as soon as we know which phone models the above method works on and is reliable with!
Note: The iWizard works great on my i-mate k-jam.
I tried this a minute ago.
My qtek 9100 is connected to my pc, can synchronise with active synch but I received the error message I attached.
I have spv m500, its synchronized with my pc, but I recive the same error as canstb said...
sorry for my first quick reply.
I was thinking that my qtek9100 was cid unlocked apparently it was not. I used the tool lokiwiz v2b to unlock it and ran your program again.
and here is the result.
Thanks, please keep the results coming in! We'll figure what the checksum alg. is and then fix your phones
Guys, I think you should PM Sinan rather then publically posting your IMEIs.
As we all know, cloning and changing IMEIs may be illegal in your jurisdiction; additionally, publically posting your IMEI is liable to end up with it being cloned by thieves not from this board etc. Not wise, so be careful, and please stay legal.
V
thanks for your warning.
sinan, I am deleting my attachment to my previous message. if you need the info again, just ask for it.
can anyone tell how to download lokiwiz, and how can i find out if my Magician iz CID locked or not?
and is there any tool for unlocking SPV m500 (magician)?
thnx
Yes, can you please PM it? Also, did the tool accurately detect your real IMEI?
Everyone, please PM your IMEI and checksums for security...or if you're not comfortable with that, please just say if the tool correctly detected your IMEI on your phone model, and report the phone model.
aWizard/Lokiwiz can be used to CID unlock phones, available here on this forum as well...pretty easy to find and use them, they're free tools as well.
You may need to downgrade your ROM first...
i used lokiwiz to unlock my device, now some other message appears, here is the pic... and the program doesent stop, it tries to find imei, but it seems like it will never stop...
Is this on Vista? Please see if it works on a regular XP box...if not, thanks for letting us know, be sure to try with the next alpha.
no its not vista, its just a theme for xp.
so you think there might be a solution for my device to?
Was the unlock successful with the CID unlock tool?
I think you may need to downgrade your ROM and CID unlock your tool first.
According to what I've read in another discussions, this tool would work only on devices that store IMEI on DOC chips
These are - nearly all smartphones produced by HTC, and communicators like HTC Wizard and Prophet. The tool would never work on HTC Himalaya, BlueAngel, Universal, etc.
You can easily determine would the tool work on your device or not. Just take the ROM update tool, extract it with WinRAR. If it has the file "radio_.nbf" - the tool would not work at all.
The tool should not be called "HTC IMEI Restore Wizard" as it does not support all HTC devices. It should be renamed to something like "HTC IMEI-on-DOC Editor tool".

it is easy to determ which models work, just buy all the HTC devices and try yourself and you will know. I am doing same thing, since i don't want risc affect any of the users phones.
chunky charly
Rascal you sound like a baby. We should try to help each other, not put each other down. And remember business is business! You couldnt have thought that you would be the only person that could provide a imei repare tool forever!!
Maybe now you will drop the price of your dongle or even better, make the program work without the dongle!!
Hopefully the release of mimar's tool will drive you to produce better things.
AFAIK the Wizard has a radio rom file, doesn't it? I've used the tool on my Wizard just fine.
Raskal, tale the suggestions of our good friends here - update your obsolete sales mechanism, get rid of the pkey dongle, that will probably be the only way for you to remain competitive.
Great work MimarSinan
thanks for share and not change a my device imei ..

The spv M500 is a Windows Mobile 2003SE device. As far as I am aware this tool is for Windows Mobile 5 devices.
