Installing other carrier/provider setting. - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

I have questions regarding this issue. I have Dutch T-Mobile MDA Compact (locked) and I soon to go back to my home country. I will not be able to use T-Mobile there, so I have to unlock it.
Unlocking is not an issue here because I can pay someone to do it (imei-check) or ask T-Mobile to provide unlock (hope they will!).
In my home country, I will register for a new carrier/provider (I still dont know which one).
I read in this forum that I need a .CAB file of the provider to be installed to get the phone setting (GPRS, mms, sms, etc.).
(1) Is that right?
(2) How to install that .CAB?
(3) If I install Provider1.CAB and then I switched back to Provider2.CAB, can I go back to Provider1 again?
Many thanks in advance to clear up this questions for me.
Regards,
gogol

Please, anyone can answer my questions ?

1. you can install the cab or do the settings manually that's up to you but using the cab file is much more easier.......
2. put the cab in your Magician and click on it......
3. the cab file is an installtion file meaning you will only use it once to install the settings...... to switch between them you can set it to auto pick the provider or maually choose ur provider from the connection settings.....
hope that helps

Thanks PapaDocta,
How to setup manually ? I have Dutch T-Mobile MDA Compact and I cant find any way to setup the GPRS. Could you please inform me which program or icon to do this ?
Thanks,

How t remove T-Mobile colours from your device

So here is the procedure of getting rid of T-Mobile's customization:
The whole proccess means you will do a hard reset and you will be installing everything from the beggining! So if you don't want that to happen you have to stay with T-Mobile's customization!
Step 1
Hard reset your MDA Compact (power+soft reset). Do all the neccesary steps (choosing your country and timezone) and when you get in the screen that tells you to tap the screen in order to start working have your stylus at the soft-reset hole tap the screen with your finger and do a soft reset IMMMEDIAELY AFTER YOU TAP THE SCREEN!
Step 2
Your MDA compact will restart without any customization it will be a clean Windows Mobile 2003SE. With the file manager go to the Extended ROM folder that is now visible and install the following files:
Caller_ID_WWE_RC10.CAB
Camera_Patch_WWE_B15.sa.CAB
GPRSMonitor_WWE.sa.CAB
Java_10.1.2.57_WWE.CAB
MMS_2.0.0.13_WWE.CAB
MMS_Settings_WWE_NL.CAB (This file will install the settings of T-Mobile NL but if you don't install it and then change the settings to your providers settings most probably will end up with MMS that does not work. So install those settings and change them accordingly to your providers settings)
Patch_101123.sa.CAB
Version_WWE_101124.sa.CAB
Zip_Magician_T-Mobile_WWE_B12.CAB
Those are all the files you need to install. For those who need intellipad and intellidialer they will also have to install the 2 files for those programs.

Download the 02 settings from clubimate.
intellidialler does not work
I have a T-mobile MDA Compact in the UK.
If I follow these instructions it works fine - thanks. (SOme of the CAB files are UK versions or have later version numbers.
1. Is there a list anywhere of what each of these CAB files does?
2. The Dialler becomes crappy (formatting numbers in the US way, and not searching for contacts). The default microsoft colours are much more intuitive for showing missed calls/received calls etc in the recent calls list than the T-mobile palette, but i can't make the dialler search the address book in the very clever way it usually does. The intillidialler won't install either.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Nigel.
Has anyone found decent versions of intellipad and intellidialler to install after doing the debrand on a UK Compact?
Quick question, i did all this and it worked fine for me, orange sim is working happily away when i unlocked the device via IMEI check and installed the orange rom but i've lost the clearvue products suite. I've looked in the extended rom partition but i can't find it
love this thing tho...still fiddling with it 2 months down the line
and how do i get the default microsoft colours?

Remove_UMTS_only(networkBand)

Hello,
I was made a small mistake with my brand new mda VARIO II,
t-mobile Version.
I was proceed the the cab File: Remove_UMTS_only(networkBand)
In the Windows directory.
File was running, mda was doing something…
but I don’t know wht is now really happened and what will be the
result.
Who knows the function of this cab-File?
Could be possible to get a description of this File-Function?
Is there a way to redo this procedure, without a “HARDRESET” ?
For your help thank you in advance !!
Regards,
Gerhard

This will have no effect unless you had deliberately selected use UMTS only in the Phone settings screen.
You can check what network bands are in use on the phone by going to:
Start>settings>personal>phone>band. In the select your GSM/UMTS band drop down box you can choose which band(s) to use. The default setting is Auto.
Mike
Thanks!!
Hey, thanks’ for your support!!
I was check my settings: AUTO mode is still active and I can select
between:
- Auto
- GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100)
- GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850)
In the moment, the system is running without any bad effects…
Could you read German? I was just found an interesting Link to a
description for the different CAB files on the vario II

Orange UK Connection Settings

I've made a cab for the Orange UK Connection Settings, including MMS. It also sets the regional settings to UK as well. Hopefully helpful to those people who keep flashing these lovely WM6 ROMs
Install and then soft reset.
how can i build my own cab file with the settings i need?
Forza,
Sounds good - does it re-apply the MMS folders to the device too?
Oh and how do you run it?
Many thanks,
Matt

This cab applies the MMS settings applicable to Orange UK on a newly flashed device - on my device I get the usual Inbox/Deleted items/Drafts/Sent Items etc.
To run it simply copy it to your device and the use File Explorer to find it and click it.
Nice One
Many Thanks forza.
Very useful - was getting fed up typing them in manually all the time!
cheers mate thanks for the cab file i lost the last one now have it on my storage card
thanks
andy
Spot on!
Orange were struggling with getting my connections back up and running, lucky someone knows what they are doing!

official wm6 dopod network wizard problem error (workaround)

For all those who has problems with the new dopod wm6 network error you can now copy these files into your windows folder it will ask to overwrite select yes to all and then you can reset (optional) go into settings again and you will see another network icon which can be used for all.
You can use total commander which i think is the best file explorer

Cheers for that duttythroy.
I had done it manually before, but prefer the automation of the wizard.

Get rid of icons in the programsmenü?

Hey everyone!
I used the search, but didn't find a match for my question.
I have a Vodafone branded X1 and don't want to flash another rom (not yet).
I have erased the Vodafone settings under "Connections" so it shouldn't connect to anything Vodafone WAP/GPRS/UMTS, right?
Now I need to get rid of the 3 Vodafone Icons named "VF E-MailConect etc" in the Programmsmenü. Any way to delete them?
Thanks!
Hi
Get a file Explorer (Total Commander/Resco - I can Attach the former if you need because it's freeware)
Go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs
Delete any shortcuts you don't want.
Also, to properly disable the voda rubbish (I also have UK Voda Xperia) Just reflash with Generic UK, No HardSPL required, and it fixes a lot of the Voda muck ups.
P.S. Deleting the connections I found didn't really "delete" them, and the phone can still connect to them when it needs to.
Instead, install an app called "NoData" and toggle them to disabled. it can also be done with Advanced Config (I believe). Again, i can attach the files if needed.
Thank you so much for your answer!
I'll get the Total Commander and install NoData!
I have a German Vodafone branded phone. I never read before that I don't have to use HardSPL to get the unbranded Rom working. Are you sure about that one? Thanks a lot!
Yep
Yep, 100%, I refused to mess with my SPL so I tried out the Generic UK ... now I can update my Xperia from Sony Ericsson Updater as if it were a standard generic.
Of course in your case you would use the Deutsch ROM.
Great! And how do you do that? I've only read about the method using HardSPL and renaming the image to Kovsimg.nbh and put it on a MicroSD. I guess that won't work with the normal SPL?!
Yep

Hehe, luckily you guessed wrong.
Put Kovsimg.nbh on your memory card, restart, hold VolDown+Pwr.
Enjoy
As long as it's the "Official" image (get it from Xperia ROM download thread) it works just fine, I did it just to try and it worked
