Hi all,
I'm trying to get a magician off ebay and i need some advice. As i understand the ROM are different for different carriers (Tmobile vs others) Which rom is more stable? I'm not too familar with rom upgrades. Are all imates jam/MDA/xda mini unlocked? Is there anything i should look out for when choosing different versions?
I've also read online that the BT stack for magician is not using a standard driver. So is it compatible with most BT headsets? Will file transfers with other phones using BT work?
Sorry for the many questions. I just needed some encouragement/advice before i spend the money to get this device Thanks a lot!

Hey, I have an O2 XphoneII and I've been looking around and found a ROM upgrade for an I-mate SP3i. These are the exact same phones, just different branding. I was wondering if anyone has tried this and how their experience was with it. The upgrade includes WMP10 and support for MP3 ringtones and such, stuff that would make my phone really nice. But I dont want to risk it if it is going to break my phone. Please respond. Thanks.

Hello,
Mi name is Edgardo, and i live in argentina (excuse my english).
Im looking foward to change my wizard, which i really love, but i have a problem that i need to fix. I have a Bluetooth GPS and a Motorola 820 A2DP headset. I can not use both at the same time, because the bluetooth bandwidth is not enought. Since i love my wireless headset, i want to switch to trinity to be able to listen to music while i run (and record my gps info).
did someone else migrate from wizard to trinity? what is your experience?. Does the trinity have Wm6 that i can cook myself?.
i particulary want to know if there are several trinity models like the wizard (G3/G4). Some of this models (g4) are harder to flash, so i want to know if there is something like this on trinity.
i read something about usb host.. what is this? does this phone have a usb host? can i plug usb devices like a Usb flash?
Mi wizard have miniSD, and it is limited to 2gb. Does this happend on trinity?
Thanks

I did, and you can cook your own roms.

afaik, all trinities are the same. there are unlocking threads with all the answers in. remove any sd card before you flash

I use a 4 gb card, no problems
bt music still takes a lot of processing power, so I don't know if it will work well with two big progs running
Hi guys,
Really hoping someone can help me here as getting very frustrated.
First off, I just need to confirm what model of phone I have! It's the MDA Compact II, so I assumed the Charmer, yet does not have WM5 on it, it's WM 2003 SE. Is this still a Charmer...or a Magician?
Originally I had another unit which came direct from TMobile, which had WM5 on it. I lost it. I bought another one off Ebay but it appears to be an older model phone, with WM 2003 SE on it. (Didn't realise this at the time grrrr).
Anyway I bought a Bluetooth dongle the other day to use with my laptop. My only need for it really is to simply transfer files between the laptop and the MDA.
I've installed the software that came with the dongle (Bluesoleil) but I can't see obviously how I am to transfer files. I can pair the devices but they will not connect with each other. Do I need to use FTP? If so, I can see no provision for this on the MDA.
Hayy-elllllp!
Many thanks in advance,
RHF
Hi, the easiest way how to recognize these units is to look at the information about the device (settings - system). The older version (magician) has 416MHz clock of the cpu, newer version (charmer) has only 195MHz clock of the CPU.
It can only be the Magician. There is no Charmer with WM 2003SE and no Magician with WM5.
hi guys i really need some help, i have just taken deliver of 3 new P6500 running WM6.1, for my work i must use a pice of software that communicates with the head office with GPRS, unfortunatly it only works on WM5, currently they have not strared to work on a version that works on WM6.
i need to install a WM5 rom on this PDA, is it possible ? if so how would i do it? i am very IT literate but dont know the ins and outs of the HTC ststem for roms
i would really appreciate any help given
Hello...
I am not a new memeber, just new to the Wizard forum... I have a 8925 (Tilt) and love it.. use the GPS almost daily and love all the software for it... I have the oppertunity to pick up a used 8125 (Wizard) for $50 in full working order... I think picking it up is a no-brainer... Here are my questions...
GPS : I did a search in the forum and can find nothing stating whether this unit does or does not have a built in GPS chip like my 8925 (or my friends Titan)... I am assuming that it does not... but I would love to be plesantly suprised... SO, does it have a built in GPS chip?
Rom Update : I know it comes with WM 5.0 on it.. but my 8925 has the WM 6.1 on there, so I wanted something closer... With this upgrade, will the 8125 be able to use the SDHC SD cards ? What is the size limit? I downloaded the SNN Diamond WM 6.1 rom from the Wizard Forums.. and feedback on that rom?
Advice : I will most likely be giving this phone to a friend of mine who is envious of my tilt, as it does most everything my tilt can do (keeping my fingers crossed on the gps thing)... Any tips/advice from someone who has used both devices? Any tricks or anything I should be aware of? (I will most likely be their only form of tech support for the phone as they will be using it on Einstein PCS, not tmobile or at&t)
Thank you so much in advance for your help! I will greatly appreciate it!
Sorry, no gps. I use the SNN rom and I love it.
Thanks for the reply!
I assume this will stil lbe able to work with a bluetooth GPS puck, right?
Ya, I use a Telelogic Bluetooth GPS "puck" receiver with my 8125 since there is no GPS builtin. Also, the 8125 has a slower processor, most things seem to work fine for me.
I haven't heard if WM6.1 enables SDHC on Wizard. Regular SD is 2GB max I think. I still use stock ROM.
Thanks so much for everyones help... This afternoon I picked up the stock rom and locked Cingular 8125 for $50.. I have it CID and Sim Unlocked thanks to software found here in the forum.... And I upgraded it to the SNN WM 6.1 Diamond rom... Working great... I got the internet and such set up for Einstein Wireless as my friend who will be getting it from me will be using them for service...
SDHC will not work, the hardware does not support it. The Wizard's CPU functions at 180mhz stock but it can (and should IMHO!) be over-clocked to 240mhz.
I'm running WM 6.1 with Manila and it's really only lacking GPS.
Having said that, I wish I had the money for a Fuze!
