Morning all.
I've just got a XDA IIi (Andes?). I have been trying to unhide the extended ROM and no matter what I try it won't unhide. Is there a newer tool or a different way to do it on the XDA IIi ?
Also, when the XDA starts, I get the My Info screen, with My Info. Anyone know if it is possible to edit the screen to put a different header on instead of the My Info header?

Ok, I'm new to this messing about with ROM's etc, but two easy questions.
1. How can I dump my XDA II ROM (somewhere) pref. not SD card, and then rewrite it to a different XDA II without killing either device ?
2. Is the SIM lock code part of the ROM ? If it is, will the lock status be taken across when the first ROM is written to the second device.
Idiot proof instructions appreciated !!!! - or am I just barking totally up the wrong tree ?
Has anyone either done this or know how to do this ?
Thanks
hi all, i have a little problem unlocking my XDA
first of all my PocketPC is a TSM400 and it is mysteriously identic to XDA. I think is the same model with a different name cause distributor company (telefonica Spain). I have a 3.18.10 ESP ROM version (08/15/03) and when i try to unlock it i got a "error getting unlock code"
any idea?
should i update the rom?
will i have any incompatibility problem?
thanks!
If indeed it is the same pda I would suggest installing xda developers special edition rom 1.2 AFTER you have backed up your existing rom using sd method. This should unlock your pda automatically on first boot after burning the new rom.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news here, but that statement keeps getting thrown around yet its a false statement.
Its not the ROM that is stopping the Unlock, its the Radio stack. as i found out yesterday.
After i had upgraded to the special edition, it still returned a "Error getting Code" message, it was only when i upgraded my Radio stack to 6.24 was i able to unlock the phone.
But then, because i now had the wrong radio stack, i failed to get a signal until i had downgraded back to 4.21, Only then was i able to place a call and get SMS through.
Indeed the Phone does look exactly like a XDA,
So first thing for people with a tsm 400 to do is find out what hardware versions they are on.
Could i ask that both peachy_212 and elessar pick there PDA up and do this
Click Start on the today screen
Navigate to settings at the bottom of the drop down list
tap the SYSTEMS tab along the bottom row of tabs
And then device information
You should have
ROM version
ROM date
Radio version
Protocol version
Then click the next tab over (Hardware)
If it is a XDA it should say something along these lines
CPU: ARM SA1110
Speed: 206mhz
RAM: 64mb
FLashsize: 32MB
Flashchip type: 28f128
Databus: 32 bits
LCD :240x320 TFT
Colors: 4096
ALso what would help is the next tab over from HARDWARE, (Identity)
Give the model number and platform from this section, DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR IMEI NUMBER ONLINE,
Could you reply with what version numbers and hardware info to confirm that it is indeed a XDA
Then maybe we can help
Hiya Guys,
Ive been doing some searching and I still cant find a clear proceedure on how to upgrade to 2005 for the O2 XDA II.
I have all the files - from various sources - the "wm2005_.zip" seems to be the only one that will like my XDA - the others cite country code errors etc. When about to upgrade it also cant detail what the current information is - maybe this is part of the problem. Currently using the Sin Merged 2003SE too.
Can anyone out there post a step by step with maybe some screen shots so we dont go astray with this one - including all the files needed etc.

Hi there, new here.
Have had a search but couldn't find an answer so:
I have an o2 XDA IIi.
Is it possible at all to reset this device to just a generic device without all the o2 software mods?
If it is does it affect its ability to work on the o2 network (or other networks)- voice and data only.
Also, can this device be upgraded to WM2005 at all?
Thanks
Andrew
hi,
search at this forum about unlock sim tools, so that you can use other networks.
there's no WM2005 for this device.
thanks
Just search for Pug's modified ROM with all the o2 Stuff ripped off. Or install the i-mate or qtek ROMs for this device, as I have done. It works fine, and doesn t effect the operation on the o2 network. You will have to download a CAB file with all the o2 settings off either the i-mate website or on these forums, though.
Thanks
Simpler one is while doing a hard reset ..
when the PDA installing the customization stuff it will ask you to specifiy if your Pocket PC for Personal or Corporate just press cancel
then again press cancell if it tries to install any software then it will ask you are U sure you want to cancel installing 'O2 Mobile Solution SLR' just press Yes ..
thats all
Now your PDA out of O2 setting and customizations ..
NOTE : every hard reset you need to repeat the procedure as it stored in the ROM....
if you wana get rid of all these stuff permenantly used ( ripped-off modified rom ) from xda-developmers ftp site
cheers
Thank you for the replies.
I have tried the soft reset method for now - knowing me I would mess up the ROM upgrade!
Does the job and now looks a lot cleaner
Unlocked too and now running Vodafone...

Just another quick question.
Getting confused as to exactly the make and model of my XDA IIi.
I had a look on the i-mate site as suggested above but when I register it does not like my EMEI number.
I also see the Himalaya/Andes and Alpine all look physically the same.
Which is mine and who actually makes it?
The model no of the device says PH10C.
Thanks
Andrew
The XDA IIi is an Alpine.
You can not register an o2 IMEI on i-mate's or Qtek's website, or vice versa. They are different distributors!!!
However, most of the Alpine ROMs can be found on this website or by Googling 'HTC ROM' or something alike.
For i-mate's ROMs, visit here:

Hi,
With my O2 Xda II Mini (Magician) and I can change the boot screen using MDA3_bootimage_changer2.cab (found in this forum few years back).
I'm wondering whether it is safe to use it to change the boot screen of my O2 Atom Life (WM6) since I read in the forum that the offset for the boot image in the rom is different between roms.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, attached are the tools used for Magician if anyone dare to try it out...
Anyone out there?
Hi,
Have you got the answer to this yet?
I wonder if the boot screen of atom life can be changed...
