OK - Can anyone help with this....
I have a network at home and a server which controls access to the internet.
I have a bluetooth dongle on the server.
I connect my XDA II to the bluetooth network. I can then access the internet going throught the server. it all works fine.
BUT - MSN messenger on my XDA II will not connect to the messenger service unless I also connect to activesync over the bluetooth.
This would not be a problem, But my wife also has a unit, so currently we cannot both connect to MSN at the same time over the bluetooth network, as AS only supports one connection at a time.
Any ideas why this is happening, I thought MSN messenger was supposed to connect as long as it had an internet connection, not an AS connection??
Thanks.
when connected to bluetooth to activesync you cant connect to gprs
when connected to activesync you get the network from that
if you use vidcomm bluetooth stack you can connect using bluetooth without using activesync
and you get around the only 1 user connected to activesync issue
or of cause you can connect to 2 different computers
asuming you have more then 1
The only problem I am having, is getting msn to connect when using widcomm bluetooth. It simply tries to sign in for ages then reports that the service is temporarily unavailable.
The only way I can get it to work over the BT network is to connect to AS over the BT as well.
It then logs in first time.
Disconnecting the BT link to AS also disconnects messenger.
I don't want to use two computers : the BT is on my server because it is always switched on.
Surely as long as the unit can get to the internet it should connect to messenger, but it won't !!!
GGrrrrr!!!

Hi All,
When I connect via BT with Activesync. When I set passtrough on activesync I should be able to surf using the PC's BroadBand connection I understand. My question is, will all other internet related traffic be send with the BT connection ? ie, will MSN Messenger and things like PocketIRC be able to connect via BT also ?
Thanks,
Rob.

Yes, Bond your XDA to the PC and connect via activesync. Once connected, open the internet browser on the XDA and you can surf the net.
How bout without using activesync, cuz i want to connect to internet via bluetooth secretly without knowing the person using the pc.

Network via bluetooth
Hi,
I am also trying the same thing. (Connecting without activesync)
Maybe you have to set up a network on bluetooth.
I would also like to print thru blutooth on the XDA2, so it uses the PC's printer on the network.
I am sure it can be done... not sure how
Hi all, here it is my problem with Sync over BT. I am able to establish a partnership via BT, but when I try to surf the net by useing my PC ADSL connection, it stays few second connected, it start to downloads my web page, and than all of sudden, my BT Sync connection get interrupted. It seems that there must be some issue releted to internet connection and activesync via BT. Any Idea?
THX!

just connect to AS 4 and use it (of couse your PC must have internet connection)
I'm using ActiveSync 4.1, WIFI to connect my PC to the internet and an USB port to synchronize my Pocket (SPV M3000 /Qtek 9100)
When my Pocket PC is connected to the PC, this "lock" the WIFI acces to the Internet. After synchronisation, it's necessary to reboot my computer to be ale to use the WIFI acces to internet.
Do you have an idea to correct this problem (this never happens before with ActiveSync 3.8) ?
Thanks in advance.
Thank God for that I'm having the same problem when i connect my wizard to my PC for active Sync my wifi in fact my internet connection locks up. When i look in network connections on my PC I have another Local Area Connection 3 ??????
But my web is locked ????
As soon as i disconect my wizard i loose the LAC3 but have to reboot my PC to get web acess again???
Anyone got any ideas???
I dont have wifi acces at home but when i connect to the pc which is connected to adsl, the wizard is also connected to the lan as i am able to surf the internet. It seems perhaps you have established another connection via your pc? my wifi is disconnected btw.

I have the same problem. After a tip from someone on the MS Active sync forum who said it may be something to do with security I have worked out the following.
1) All computers loose all netork connections if they are connected to the router wirelessly and I try to Activesync.
2) If the Activesunc computer is connected to the router via CAT5 and I Active Sync then all is ok.
3) If I disable wireless security both WEP and WPA I can Activesync with my laptop connected wirelessly via to the router without loosing my network connections.
4) Something strange is happening still: When the PDA is connected to Activesync both computers keep popping up the UPNP icon telling me new network device found, even though its been connected for some time.
5) I have tested with WPA security, I will test with WEP next to see if it still has the same problem.
All computers loose all netork connections if they are connected to the router wirelessly and I try to ActiveSync.

I hit this issue with my home LAN when syncing via cable - all wireless clients dropped their connections and I got an earful from the lodger
I found that this doesn't occur when syncing via Bluetooth.
Mmm, thanks for the info - I spent hours trying to get this running yesterday and hitting the same problems - I actually cocked up my entire network and had to reboot everything! Will try bluetooth later...

I have an htc touch running nfsfan's 6.5 rom and recently bought a cheapo bluetooth usb dongle that uses bluesoleil.
I've configured activesync to feed the touch internet via bluetooth and can browse the web and all through that connection, but none of my sip programs can register their connection.
Upon googling it turns out activesync dosnt pass the required udp packets for voip.
The second solution is to create a bluetooth network completely bypassing activesync.
And here are my problems:
- I cannot establish a pan connection from bluesoleil as long as I do not establish a bluetooth activesync first (am able to exchange business cards though)
- If i establish activesync, then bluetooth pan, then disconnect activesync, the pan connection is still active, but I get about 75% packet loss when pinging my router from the phone and apps want to dial the #777 to get internet.
The touch not having wifi, that bluetooth pan connection seems to be my only solution to get voip working on that phone (cell provider phone data connection has very high latency and unusable for voip)
Any suggestions greatly appreciated
