I am developping a program that use serial port to connect a device.
That device use 2 wire communication (only RX and TX) so i set
2020i Serial in order to disable hardware handshake and modem
controls (CTS, RTS, DTR and DSR). But it doesn't works!!!
I investigated and i found that 2020i uses Standard UART port
(Address 0x4070000). Datasheet of pxa270 says that Standard UART
doesn't manage modem control, so why my 2020i needs it? Is there
some other hardware that controls serial port inside? How could i
disable hardware handshake?
And last, had someone connected a GPS receiver using serial port of
2020i?
I know that perhaps it is a too tech topics, but if someone can help me...
cheers,
Blackout

Hi all First time poster,
I have been looking through your forums now for quite a while and havent found what i am looking for so this is the problem.
Does the mda compact have a serial port or not.
I am after making a serial lead for my gps and was wondering if this is possible.
I have emailed Pc-Mobile about a lead and they tell me this device doesnt have a serial port but in the specification in the book it says
Connection - Mini USB individual port for signals(for USB,Serial, and Power)
hope someone can help
thanks

USB = Universal Serial Bus
It is possible that it lacks a serial port, this is a similar situation to the ipaq 1910/1930, they have usb but no serial protocol so the only way to use gps is through the infrared port.
Thanks
Do you think this is worth trying and if so any ideas how
Hi Folks,
Just wondering... I'm trying to get a little application to work on Hermes PDA and I need to connect a Serial device which has a DB9 RS232 connector...
I know there's a Serial port 'inside' the USB connection on the Hermes, I was wondering if anyone knows of a pinout etc. to enable me to build an adapter to plug in the bottom of the PDA which will then allow me to connect my DB9 RS232 device?
Any help gratefully received!...
Regards,
Rob.
no serial ?????
Hi FactionOne,
there's no serial port on on USB connector .
It's only USB-device port, mixed with audio signals on this port.
Bootloader got also support for USB device port.
So it's possible for the host to emulate serial support. That's all!
At least so far as i know

Hi there
Has anyone tried to hack the IRDA module (desolder it) and interface with a PIC (or else) microcontroller in order to make the HTC send and receive data through COM port to the external microcontrollers.
Is there another available COM ports (hardware addressable UART) that I can use ?
my P3600 lists the COM ports :
COM1 Serial_IR ???
COM3 IRCOMM ???
COM5 ?
COM6 Serial ?????
COM7 SERIAL_BTUR (I use it to send data via BT SPP to other devices)
COM9 GPSChannel (to read GPS data)
Best regards

I ve got quick question? Need an external(real) serial port on Blackstone. Is 'it possible?
no that would require the blackstone to support usbHost Which it as far as I know don't
but it does support serial ports over bluetooth
and you can get rs232 to bluetooth dongles if the blackstone made a com for bluetooth
and was bunded with the rs232 to bluetooth dongle you could have real rs232 that way
