Check out SynCE. Still work in progress, and not ready for prime time yet IMHO. But I'm sure it'll get there!
Mmmm
Anyone tryed it? Can someone explain me how to use it?

Like most things Linux, read the HOWTO
http://synce.sourceforge.net/synce/howto.php
I've got as far as my PC recognising the Jam when plugged in, but have not yet established a sync connection, because Shorewall is blocking it. Haven't had time to try and fix yet.

Wait a bit. It shares a lot of hardware with the other
htc phones, so the progress should be fast.

O yeah, i like this program that dopod uses, "usb switch" cause it seems that when in serial mode it sync better and connect faster unlike in RNDIS mode. is there anyway to make it permanently in serial mode?

Is there a way to do this?
I don't recommend doing this, so do a backup first because it can be a pain to undo. Let me know if it works or not.

Vijay.
I have one instance of USB switch installed.
It temporarily sets the switch to Serial but needs to be re-set after every soft reset.
Does this version make it permanent?

This is no different to the version I had installed beforehand.
Is there a way to permanently set it to serial?
???????????????????????????????????????
No idea - it's pulled out of the Tornado rom. I used it once, it screwed my activesync, I never used it again.
I can't really see the benefit of the idea though. RNDIS works well, when it works.
If there's a registry setting that it forces (which it probably does), you could extract it and I could make you a program to make it a permanent setting. But, I'm not trying the program again as it is, because of my previous bad experiences with it.

Exactly, as you say 'when it works' since i installed a new wifi card and started using higher encryption RNDIS no longer works
so the benifit is the fact that i can actually sync with my laptop, which previously i had to either do it server based, of fire up my desktop pc (which i dont really use anymore)
i have had a good search through the registry and not managed to find a key that will permanently set to serial mode
Yes!!! i was having problem with activesync too and this USB Switch solved the problem for me! thanks!!!
Is there anything to do on the computer to get this working?
After I switched my Qtek S200 to serial, a new peripheral was detected... but nothing new with activesync... no sync at all…
In RNDIS mode, it syncs correctly with outlook, but not with my exchange server… and I can not surf the net while connected to usb…
In HLM/Drivers/USB/FunctionDrivers you can find the "DefaultClientDriver = RNDIS". I think here you can change the default setting. (Not tested ...)
Hi,
I'm looking for a tool, which allows to execute a program with a command line a certain time of x minutes after docking the device in the cradle or alternatively x minutes after active sync. Does something like this exist?
*bump*
Really nobody got an idea?
Maybe MortScript has such an option ...

Interesting idea. Maybe someone knows more. Unfortunately, I don't know mortscript myself.
Hi
It would be easy enough to write a desktop application that will fire off an application using RAPI. Have a look at the Opennetcf library.
If your c++ is up to scratch you could also create an Activesync Service Provider (then let me know how you did it).

Pete

Unfortunately I'm not a programmer, so I'm unable to do it myself. Maybe someone else would like to try...

I was looking around and saw some forums on a Prog called SuperBlueTooth Hack. It's a .jar file though. Anything similar for the G1 yet? Able to connect to someones phone through bluetooth. Read txts/contacts/see pictures? Maybe edit their phones settings.
No one has any idea?

Root your phone, wait for Cyanogen to update his rom with full OBEX bluetooth support. ;] ;] ;]
Did I mention they wouldn't know you're doing this? >>

They probably wouldn't know you're remotely controlling their phone, but they probably would know that you're trying to pair up with their device via bluetooth, that's how that superbluetooth hack worked.
I know. So...?Anything like that for g1?

No.
I remember use the Super Bluetooth hack on my old SE W580i. The only device it could pull information from was a Nokia 6210 >< And that's after you accept on the other device. They really are useless, as hardly any phones are vulnerable.
Does anyone know of an application that allows one to use Wikipedia on the HD2, it doesn't have to be offline viewing. I'm just looking for a faster way to access Wikipedia without loading up a browser. If someone could supply a .CAB file of the application, that would be superb.
I am also looking for a decent Wikipedia application, similar to Wikipanion on iPhone. Can anyone recommend one ? Or may be develop ? )))

I downloaded both english and italian wikipedia dumps, and the only thing stopping me from creating an mdict version is that there are no pre-made tools to do it under my server's linux OS, and I don't want to keep my windows workstation turned on overnight.
Plus, it's a pity but virtualbox crashes my ubuntu server so virtualizing xp is not a feasible way of doing things...
