Hi,
I've only just got my XDA 2 and I'm on Orange so I've just been setting up all the GPRS settings.
Just wondered if it is possible to set the GPRS connection to automatically disconnect once a MMS message has been downloaded?? Or do I have to do it manually, what if I forget!
cheers

my cellphone load gets suck out most of the time because it connects to the internet on its own, is there a setting/program that prompts me first if i want to connect to gprs...
many thanks
Hi,
Your phone is most likely trying to connect to check your email. To prevent this happening, from your Inbox select Menu/Tools/Options. Click on your email account, press Next till you reach page 4 then Options. De-Select the box which says 'Connect and check for messages every:'
Hope this helps.
GPRS connection
I have a similar problem using exchange push email. I have established an Internet connection with WLan and checked that I can access my webmail (which is my Exchange mail). Despite this to update email the phone automatically connects GPRS - this is really annoying. I read once that this is set in the registry when one installs the operator customisations. Can anyone tell me how to change this?
this tool
http://www.gb-soft.cz/xdaII/
can be set to auto disconnect gprs after x seconds/minuts
GB Soft Tweak
Thanks for the suggestion.
I tried this and it doesnt seem to fix the problem. Although I am not excactly clear on the settings.
I tried the Turn Off GPRS option with a 5 min setting, trued Search GPRS [G] on start radio and Search [G] on start GPRS connection.
With regards

My Phone: HTC TytN (Vodafone 1605 VPA Compact III).
I am new here and have 3 questions:
1. If i turn on WiFi and see the connection to my wireless network it still wants to connect to the internet through GPRS. Is there a setting or an order wich setting to use ?
2. My phone connects to my exchange server to get my mail automatically despite the fact that I is set to manualy. Then it keeps the GPRS connection open. I want to get may mail manually and not automatic ?
3. My phone is HSDPA prepared but it's not enabled. How do I enable this and keep it enabled also after a soft reboot or setting the device off and on again.
Thanks for your info .
Is there a way I can disable the GPRS on my HTC TyTN? I would like to use the WiFi I have at home sometimes and it just automatically use the 3G, GPRS setting...especially with Internet Explorer which is on the phone.
Any help is appreciated...thanks!
I'm having this problem too. Whenever Wifi and GPRS are both active, it always defaults to GPRS. I cannot get it to recognise the Wifi connection under any circumstances.
I have an Orange SPV M3100 (HTC Hermes) with Windows Mobile 6.
sorry for my english first. if you use the automatic set up connection GPRS for your operator ; the wifi doesn't work.
You must do a hard reset and configure the GPRS connection manual.
Then the wifi works.
I've done this. I had to input my operators settings when I upgraded to Windows Mobile 6. It still doesn't work.
Hi
does anyone know how to automaticlly disconnect the gprs on a spesific time, eks 16.00?
I have XDA orbit. I have wireless router at home.
I have enabled the wifi. However whenever i try to browse the internet- by default GPRS becomes active (which costs me). I have to manually disconnect it. But after few minutes , GPRS becomes active again. I have gone through manual and help section on my XDA many times but can’t figure it out.
Is there any way that my XDA defaults to wifi rather than GPRS.
Any help will be appreciated
settings->connections->connections->advanced->picknetwork and picking the item in the dropdown box which is not! my isp or whatever it's called on your device
will result in gprs not being used untill you change the dropdownbox again
but then will i be able to send MMS as MMS uses GPRS i believe
What I am doing is changing to GPRS each time I want to use GPRS and then back to my WiFi network. It prevents accidental charges.
