Hello.
Need some help with my xda 1. I got this from abroad and is unlocked so i am using my smart sim card. no problems with text messaging and phone calls but can't configure gprs/MMS coz it is configured to O2-UK, etc. tried to let smart wireless do it but said they can't. Can anyone help me with the configuration? Thanks a lot.

Can someone unlock my XDA sim for me across the counter. I am more comfortable walking in and out with it instead of sending it through post. Also could not do it myself since was not too familier.
If somone could help me would be really grateful. Please send me an email at [email protected]. I am in UK (obvious)..he he.
unlocking..
Usually it's not the SIM that needs the unlocking, but the phone. If the SIM is locked (when your tried the wrong PIN three times), you need the so-called PUK-code from the cellular provider. No way around this.
Usually when people seek 'unlocking' they want a locked phone (i.e. it will only accept SIMs from one or a small set set of providers) to be set free to accept any SIM.
Let us know where in the UK you are based. Just might be able to help you

I didn't check anything out about whether another provider would or wouldn't work until I came across this site looking for info. on how to get the xda to work connecting to the internet using activesync and the cradle.
So two question here really -
1. Will the xda work with Vodafone?
and
2. How do I configure it to connect to the internet using the cradle and Activesync?
Anyone that could help on these points I would greatly appreciate the advice

Yes. You may need to "unlock" it if your phone is "SIMlocked". There's plenty of messages on this forum describing how to do this.
2. How do I configure it to connect to the internet using the cradle and Activesync?

Open the ActiveSync main window, 'Tools menu', 'Options', 'Rules' tab and make sure 'Pass Through connection' is set to 'The Internet', and then when your desktop is connected, all should be automagic.
FANTASTIC! Thanks for the answer to number 2
I'll let you know how I get on with number 1 when they change me over!
Well there we go !!
Unlocked the SIM straight away and the VODAFONE SIM card works perfectly !!
Thanks for help
Now I'm thinking of experimenting and installing a Special ROM ... hmm .. wonder if the SMS, GPRS and other little qwerks will effect me?!
Hi im totally new to this so please bear with me. I have just purchased an XDA 2 unlocked , ive put my tesco PAYG sim in ( uses o2 settings it seems in my nokia).
1. if i try to access the phone settings it continually says "wait 15 seconds"
2. teso has told me there is no way I can get to use internet, in GPRS with it unless i go to o2, is this correct ?
All i really want is to be able to use my adrss book to dial and also to get my yahoo emails as I can with my Nokia phone.
Thanks in advance.

Hi I purchased my Imate K-Jam G4 in the UK sim free and brought it to the Cayman Islands. I do not appear to have any GPRS or edge ability. My service opertaor supports both they tried to send me the settings but came back with handset not supported.
I am running the latest imate ROM and have hard reset a couple of times to now avail. When i click on the internet all i get is cannot connect with current settings. i have tried both types of authentication.
Can anyone help me?
Is it anything to do with the CID lock which reports 001?
Thanks any help will be appreciated
Update:
Ok i have now managed to get it to connect by creating a new connection. However although it shows connected i get no data. can't even open google. any ideas?
Ok now got it working. my sim was not enabled for gprs put it in my wifes phone which had a text with the service provider settings saved them and then put the sim back in my phone. all now works. However seems to cost a small fortune so looks like i am going to disable it again. :-(
Hey guys,
Needing help here. Sister has one of these on TIM (she lives in Italy). When she was over in UK I was tinkering about and using mobile internet (non-wifi). The problem is though that when she has pt her own sim back in it has stayed on and now she has ran up a €400 phone bill due to her being constantly online. As I don't have the phone in front and my own phone runs windows mobile I haven't got a clue how to get her to permanently disconnect it.
Can anyone tell me how so I can phone her with the instructions?
Many thanks in advance

You can use an app such as APNDroid to enable/disable the APN she has configured. Or, she can use Wisync (or Wisync plus) to do the same.
Or she can go to Settings/WirelessControls/MobileNetworks and append "xxx" to the name of the APN that is active.
Thanks...Will call her just now
