SpriteBackup has erased the contents of the SD card - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

I tried to backup through spritebackup and, in the process, erased the contents of the SD card
i lost everything

Sorry I can't give you a more helpful answer, but hopefully you will now get a card reader to back up your SD card regularly

On second thought. I think it is the card reader that has caused the problem. there is a warning in the card reader on how to remove/copy the torage card by avaoiding this kind of erasure. So be ware too.
Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately you are not alone. It appears as though WM 2003 has a bug in the file system, which causes a corrupt FAT every now and then. Corrupt FAT = unreadable file system.
I think you need to read the thread with the weird title 'Grrrrrrr its happend again'...

SD problem!!

My Jam can't read my card!!
The information can be found, and the files/folders inside of the SD can be found..But it doesn't show up..I need to go to the finding thing and then it comes up as a list..Not a folder saying "SD"..
Anybody have a clue why it does that?
I've seen this problem before with a Ridata 1GB SD card. The data and structure on the card become corrupt. I've been able to fix this by backing up whatever is on the card (whatever is salvagable) and then doing a reformat of the card. If it won't let you reformat on the ppc, try doing it first on a regular pc with an SD card slot.

Hmm..Good idea, thanks.

SD memory Card - loss of memory size

I have a 512 SD memory card, which when initially placed into my MDA compact was working fine. I have transferred files via activesync and the MDA was reading it at 512mb.
However, a couple of weeks ago. I had a message on the MDA asking if I would like to format the card for reading by this device. Initially I said no, however, it kept on coming up persistently until I clicked yes.
The format was done and I am now showing a size on my SD card of 139mb.
I have seen some of the previous posts and have bought a SD reader/writer, whilst this works perfectly, my card is still only 139mb. I have a feeling that the movie I transferred is taking up the rest of the memory, but not showing anywhere for me to remove it.
Does anyone have any suggestions, other than gentle pursasion with a hammer, to return the card to its proper size. Free would be best of course.
Thanks
In windows (your desktop computer) enable the option "view-hidden files"... perhaps you will find a lot of hidden files on your sd.
Otherwise, format the sd.
Sven,
Thanks for your response, tried hidden files, no luck. Also formatted the sd card and it still only reads 139mb. Shall I hit it with a hammer?
Cheers
Mark
adz1478,
Unzip the attachment onto your computer...
With your SD card in a card reader, format the card.
You should hopefully retreive full capacity- needless to say everything saved on the card will be gone.
worked perfectly, you just saved me £20 on a new card. Cheers

Yep- no probs.
When you try to format the card from Windows- it does not always comply with the SD 1.1 specs. This is what the formatter program does.
Same problem - but!
When I tried the formatter program it thinks the card is write protected even though on the outside it is not! So i can't format it to the correct side.
Any ideas please?

Strange problem with TyTn

Hello everybody, I'm new here and I'm having a strange problem with my Hermes.
Sometime ago I downloaded the slide2unlock cab and installed it. Then I removed it for some reason. Last week I inserted my sd in the computer and it asked me to format the card. There was no way to get into the sd and I lost all my data.
Now, after having formatted my sd, the device is continually hanging and when I put it in standby it always turns on automatically. Most of the times it also doesn't recognize the sd card and I have to reboot.
Can anyone help me, please?
Did you reformat the sd card FAT32? Its the preferred format but they seem to come formatted FAT by default.
Check to see if the sd card is still being detected by the PC, if it isn't then its time to get a new sd card.
Had you installed any apps on the sd card that might be causing problems.
Not from the sd card but I have had apps that, though I'd installed to the sd card, had installed the exe file onto my Hermes and a heap of data files onto the card.
Otherwise, might be time for a Hard reset...
Tanks for the fast answer. The sd card is formatted to FAT (not FAT32) and now is working in the computer.
Regarding programs installed in the sd, the problem could be exactly the slide2unlock, but I've removed it sometimes ago.
Only other thing to do wopuld be to do a hard reset. !st backup up your contacts to the sd card with spb backup(has a demo of 5 backup/re-installs). Needs to registered but you can at least backup contacts and messages then re-install after HR.
Hard reset should fix all your problems.
Cheers...

Problematic MicroSD Card

Been experiencing issues with an SD card. this is an 8GB that I was using. I normally remove the SD card from my phone and attach it to the adapter toread from the laptop's SD card reader. one of the times I did this, Windows popped up saying I needed to format the device. I put the card back into my phone, and saw that the SD card came up blank.
I put the card back into my computer and ran PhotoRec to see if I could pull any data off of it...it spit out 3000 something text files all with 2 lines each of garbled characters. I tried using TestDisk (program that comes with PhotoRec), and it says there are no Partitions on the card. I tried to format using the command line formatter, but the filesystem now shows up as RAW. I tried using the official SD Formatter tool, and it says my device is Write Protected (when it is clearly not).
I'm about lost on what to do next, as nothing seems to be working. is there something I'm missing, or am I dealing with a completely dead card?
Try the thread in the stickies right above this:

I already tried this, but thanks for the suggestion. The problem isn't with syncing data, but moreso with not being able to properly repartition the card
At least, that's what I believe the problem would be.

Thought you might try his methods on recovering your data.
I understand. Recovering also wasn't a big issue, as I keep backups of my data every so often. My main major loss is the use of this card.

Android creates a lot of stuff on the SD card, as long as the SD card is in the phone and the phone is being used you will have some files on your SD. If you format the card outside of the phone (e.g. with a card reader on a PC) you'll be able to delete everything, but as soon as you use it in the phone stuff will appear on the card again. In the EXT partition this will often be apps if you have an EU HD2 as there's not much internal storage. To be honest, it shouldn't be much of an issue at all seeing as normally these things don't take up much storage at all.
