CheckPoint SecureRemote client - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

I'm trying to use SC-PPC2K3-148 version of checkpoint secure remote.... And it sort of works fine, right up untill I enable the wifi on my XDAIIi. I have not tried it on my XDAII yet, but expect it to be ok on that.
Anyone got any ideas? This device is runnin vanilla Rom from release of XDAIIi, like I say it's only when the WiFi is enabled.... Also after installing it I cant have BT and WiFi on at the same time, not enough driver ram available apparently.
Cheers all
Ashleigh

Anyone know of a wifi sniffer/snooper that'll work with Exec

Hi
I'm looking for a wifi sniffer/snooper similar to mini-stumbler that'll work with the wireless net card of the exec.
Ditto
I know
Try wiFiFoFum (google it I can't remember the link) its a very good sniffer which works on the exec AND supports GPS for wardriving. PS its also FREE
Socket Companion has released a WM 5. compliant WiFi application a few days back. You can have a go at that. Its not free btw.
Try Hitchhiker v0.32 works with WM5

Excellent software, it was on my list of "Things that I have installed on my IPAQ to try on the Exec".
URL is http://www.aspecto-software.com/WiFiFoFum/
Some other points about the software :- It does not use an installer or CAB so nice and easy, also, make sure you do not use it at the same time as your activestink (USB) connection as it will not pick any WiFi access points up! There should be no reason to change any of the settings in the program to get it to work first time and pick up a AP even if you are already connected to it. Accessing the GPS might be another matter, not tried yet.
For anyone that has not used it yet, try it, its as good, if not better than the "non free" software and yes, it will log the gps location when a AP was found to a file for later incorporating into a TomTom POI for example.
It has issues with landscape display (it doesnt flip) but apart from that the software is fantastic!
ok I've tried wififofum with my leadtec bt gps and it works just fine.
wifi doesn't seem quite as sensitive as the ipaq 3715 but I can live with that!
wififofum all the way!

wifi help, yes again i know...

i read pages of threads on this forum, but im not getting nowhere fast!
I'll start at the begining, mda t-mobile original rom, working as it should, upgraded the rom several diff ones and not working, tryed the origainal rom and not working!
rom now on the mda,
ROM version 2.8.7.1WWE
radio version 01.13.10
protocal version 4.0.13.24
ExtROM version 2.8.7.101
ive intsalled DJVW WLAN 302.11g Activator 1.0.cab
Now the problem, when the wifis switched on it takes awhile to even detect the network, my old ipaq would be conected as soon as switched on?
when it does detect the network it trys to conect for about 2mins then gives up ( in same room as router )
it wont conect but i can see the mda has downloaded about 20kbs of info, but can get no further?
Am i missing something here?
Also where do you go to check you have the latest drivers, updates, newest rom etc
Thanks for taking the time to read this
Hello,
I have found that i am having similiar problems with Wifi after updating to the latest qtek 9100 ship ROM on my qtek 9100 device.
the device can "see" the WIFI but it will not/connot "use" it.
Ya same here. I can turn on the wifi but it doesnt connect anymore ! I know fopr sure that there are at least 4 wifi connections around me normally but I dont see any of them !
I had this problem but was able to fix it by giving my router my DNS settings (that I got from my ISP).
For some reason, certian routers will not serve the MDA with any sites unless it has the IP address of your ISP's DNS server.
This should take care of your problem.
If this doesn't work, go to your public library and see if you can get on their wifi. This will help you troubleshoot to see if there's actually a hardware problem.
Actually the problem i had is unusual in that i could connect to any open WIFI zone aswell as our work and home one, BUT it will not carry any traffic AT ALL. Only uses GPRS NO wifi.
I actually hard reset the device yesterday and ensured that Push email was switched off - WIFI is functioning fine now.
There is still one problem. When i cannot the device to my PC for an active sync. It will sync with the PC but throw an error when trying to sync with exchange server via the WIFI.
The error on the PC active sync is
"The server could not be reached. This can be caused by temporary network conditions
SUpport code:85002003"
It also throws an error on the device.
This is a right pain and did not happen on the previous version of the ROM. It means i have to do a seperate exchange server sync when disconnected from the PC. ANyone have ideas on how to fix this.
Incidently, another thing I have noticed with the NEw ROM is that contact lookup is noticeably slower - sometimes I have to wait for a few seconds
before the contact i am searching for actually comes up. This is in comparison to the immediate results of searches in my old ROM.
Jass
right ive reload a rom, and the wifi works, then after adding each of my aplications, ive tested the wifi conection, i found wififofum being the problem.
now i know the developer of wififofum has an wizard himself , that runs this aplication no problems, ut on mine it seems to just freeze the wifi, giving a rssi signal of 90 no matter how close or far im from the source?

War Driving using the Wizard

Hi all,
I have an i-mate k-jam and I was wandering what was the best software to automaticaly connect to any open wifi.
I'm currently using WiFiFoFum2 that has a really cool radar detection and the possibility to add them as POI in TOMTOM. But it doesn't try to connect to the wifi network it found.
Do you have a good war driving prog??? (Maybe one that can try to Hack the "password protected" network)??? In general, what tool do you use for war driving???
Thanks.
I agree this would be a neat idea, especially if used with a GPS/Google maps/etc. to mark open networks. Im in Boston, and open networks are ALL over the place.
I don't know if this is a good idea.. because many networks have no encryption but they re-direct you to a web page in order to register (they check the mac addr)
The best way is to use wifofum to find networks with ssid default, linksys, usrobotics, wireless, etc...
then you can connect and check your e-mails
I can add that even on a fast machine it takes quite some time to hack 128 WEP, Let alone WPA. You need to capture about a million packets if the encryption is 128 WEP, then you can crack the code, in about an hour on a 2 ghz lappy with 512 of ram (last time I tryed =)) 64 bit WEP may be possible on a pocket pc but I cant think of anyone who would still use that. That lappy could crack that in about 5 min, with a minimal amount of packets. Nice idea though
Later; Lew
you don't need to crack anything...
I travel a lot...
I need max 10min walking with wifofum to locate an unencrypted access point that shares internet... with ssid default etc...
I was in amsterdam last week. I could find open APs anywhere (even inside the room of my hotel from a nearby house/company) !
And you are not breaking any law....
If you crack wep then you do...
many foolish people turn on WEP or WPA and use the routers default pass key, maybe a program with a list of default keys which it tries could be useful.
The defaults keys may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer but there are lists available on the internet.

Try HitchHiker 0.4 beta1 (http://www.kasuei.com/hitchhiker/) it's similar to wififofum but it will connect.
No WEP cracking or dictionary attack though.

Tried this - unfortunately it kept dying shortly after conecting to an available network - went back to wififofum2 - admitedly it doesnt connect but it does a good job of finding networks.
.NET 2.0 and Hitchhiker
Hitchhiker says it needs .net 2.0, and that is 24MB! Does it really need .net and how much free space does .net require? Will .net install on the sd card?
Found a cab file here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=51118&highlight=net
and it is 2MB. Would still like to know if this can install on the sd card, does it screw up .net version 1, which is needed for registry wizard, and is hitchhiker worth it?
bratag : i noticed that the Hitchhiker crashed due to trying to connect using Pocket MSN. Try registering your MSN using the pocket MSN.
I did it and it works find after that
Tried Hitchhiker in WM%
and it crashed incessantly, sometimes taking the whole device down. It was a nuisance to install .net 2, although it helps to use the cab file located at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=51118
and then to follow the instructions involving shutting off the today screen items, soft reset, shut down all running programs (I used memmaid for this) and then install the cab. That got .net to run. Then I installed hitchhiker, but it seemed to conflict with the default wifi connection. I was near a wep enabled wifi connection of my own. Hitchhiker would accept the password and even connect me, then crash. I could still reach the internet even after it crashed, although a couple of times I had to do a soft reset because the screen wasn't responsive.
There was a report elsewhere of a t-mobile / hitchhiker problem, so perhaps it is the T-Mobile customization.
Is this really better than the native wm5 program for finding wifi's and connecting to them? Actually, often I can't connect to unprotected wifis very well, which is why I tried this program, but with 5 MB for .net and frequent crashes, it doesn't seem worth it. I would appreciate your reaction, however, since I would like to be able to use voip (sjphone) in Europe and readily connecting to wifis would help.
Yes Hitchhiker crashed for me too...
Finally I use an old version of WiFiFoFum = 0.3.3 to detect hotspot but unfortunaltely can't connect with it...
Ive tried Wi-Fi companion but it's a shareware and can't make it work on my 9100.
Does somebody has a complete list of the default ssid (maybe depend on the country)... linksys, usrobotics, wireless...
I'm really interested in the routers in France and USA.
Thanks
Wifi Companion is a pretty nice app. It has a connect option and has trace route and ping utilities as well..

I have used all of those mentioned and had problems with all of them freezing, crashing etc. I now use PocketWiNc, version 1.3 build 952. It is a special edition put out by PC mag. I dont remember where I got it, but I am sure a search can find it. It is free but has just a couple features that dont work in the free version (that I wouldnt use anyway).
PocketWinc the Special PC Mag Edition can be found here for free...

mine wizard cant connect on network after I use wififo,so I had to hard reset and backup it and now working ok

In The Netherlands you are breaking the law, well according to the new system. But if you can't protect your open wifi you are probably 99.999 of 100.000 shure you will not be seen on the network

Streethawk: War-driving

I found streethawk out on the modaco forums and was wondering if is a viable option over hitchhiker. Anyone know anything about compatibility with wm5? Usability?
doesn't work for me just says "waiting on WCZ to be free" forever and doesn't show any networks. (or was it WSZ? i can't remember)

Mine said the same, couldnt be arsed to try to get it working. Hitchhiker works perfectly for me.
Doesn't work here also.
Too bad....looked like a nice little app
Hitchiker always crashes after it's found the network for me. On an O2 mini s.
On my Qtek 9100 HitchHiker behaves strangely also. It usually finds half the APs WiFiFoFum does, and it NEVER connects. Also, on exiting it borks the PDA, and I have to manually remove it from memory to get things going again.
Is there anyone with a Qtek 9100 out there who has HitchHiker actually working and can suggest a reliable operating procedure?
Also, are there any other wardriving (WITH connecting feature) which actually work?
Well, I haven't tried Streethawk but it's disappointing that won't work.
I've had hitchiker running just fine on my wizard, though. I didn't do anything special but I exit just fine and while I only connect at my house it's able to do that just fine. I'll try doing a comparison sometime of the two war-drivers and see how many networks each gives me.
Couldnt get Hitchiker to work on my Wizard. Get a message about and error and the program has to close. This happens just after it has found an access point and tries to connect.
i find that WiFiFoFum works good for me, version 0.3.3.3 i think, if you go for the nicer looking version 2 then you have to install .net compact framework version 2 as well. plus if you connect a GPS unit then you can try and triangulate the signal
WiFiFoFum is great, but only to scan for APs. It doesn't have a simple way to select one of them and connect to it - or am I missing something?

No it's true - really annoying in a multiple network area if you want to hit a specific AP.
Yes sorry i forgot that, it doesnt allow you to connect, but i did find that it logs AP even if they have only got the WEAKEST signal or you only see it for a split second so you can then go in search. if im bored i go looking for AP's using WiFiFoFum and then try to connect using a combo of 'PockLan' which allows you to ping and search a range of an IP subnet and also map a drive of a share (the mapping is abit flacky) otherwise i use RescoExplorer to map the drive bacause its good at it.
Does anyone try and connect while wardriving or are you just looking?
P.S i am still looking for a good BlueJacking software for windows mobil, for symbian there are loads of good one like BTEXPLORer and SMan
Anyone know any? apart from 'smurf'

Hitchhiker Problems using WM6

So i installed hitchhiker and ran the app, it started smoothly, found my work wireless network, and connected to it! I was so happy because ive been having issues using wifi anywhere but at home.
So when i went to close the application down ( just hitting the x) it threw an error and froze my PPC.
Is this because i was using Hitchhiker 4.0 Beta on WM6? should i downgrade the program to 0.32?
Or is there any other programs that seek out wifi signals and assist with connecting just as hitchhiker does.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Well as you know some others have had problems with WM6. However some folks had issues with WM5 - though I never have.
You do not say if you tried it again after that first time it crashed on closing? If not try again. Quite often after first installation it may show a memory exception error but it's worth trying again. As you say it is a superb help at obtaining that connection. You should know though that Hitchiker saves it's settings and you may find that you can succesfully connect without the application having once used Hitchiker to make the first connection. Hitchhiker is also good because it allows you to cut and paste long WEP keys - this is not permitted in WM5 native application.
Mike
I tried about 6 times, both with versions 4.0 beta and 0.32.
And now it wont connect to that network? I was surprised on how fast and efficient this program is, it connected to the network without any problems, (aside from crashing afterwards) and now it wont connect at all, and it's not crashing anymore!
I'm using Pro Black 2.0 Is there a more stable version of WM6?
same problem here. program is nice - if work. but work only few minutes, before crash. I tested it only on WM6, not WM5. Till now I did not find any way how to "repair" this problem. Nevermind, I using WiFi occasionally and I have two same AP´s on different places with the same settings (it is more as 300 Km between this places) so I need set only one settings in wifi control panel.
