XDA IIs or XDA IIi?

Which do you think I should buy?
Which is best?
What are the glitches of the XDA IIi?
Hope you can help make my decision...
Cheers,
Rich
hey~~~ must be xda IIi~~~~~
the most powerful PPC phone~~~
XDAIIs having keyboard, usefull when you type a message with one hand.
Rom XDAIIi biger = 128Mb
XDAIIs = 64Mb
XDAIIi design like XDAII
which one's is your.
I prefer XDAIIs.
If you still can wait upto next few month.. wait for XDA IV..

it seems that the outlook of XDA IIi / s is better than IV....
I like the look of the XDA11s with it's nice black finish and pull out keyboard - but i was won over on the XDA11s specs, and i couldn't be happier using it as a wireless modem at the minute with my laptop typing this in the garden.

To Foxman: yes..the outlook of IIs is just cool.....but I am using II...and want to change eith IIi or IIs..if I buy a IIi...I can use the II battery.....but I like the ourlook of IIs..that's why I still think which one I should buy
I have XDAII and I still find IIi features better.
IIi is for power and IIs is for look.
But the most important still ROM support from this forum.
If there is a upgrade for IIi to WM2005, I will go for IIi now.
lolx if you see the video of bill gates about the WM2005 youll see that all the microsft staff are using himalaya XDA IV.. prety cool.. im jelous i wanna go find a job to microsft..
outlook?
outlook as in the program ?
outlook as in the style and look of the device
outlook as in the ability to be able to get ones hands on one of those devices ?
Hello,
I used to own an XDAIIs and now I have the XDAIIi. I beleive the XDAIIi is a better pocket pc/phone in all aspects. The XDAIIs is heavier, slower processor, and very easy to break because it has a sliding keyboard which tends to become loose also. The XDAIIi has it all better than the XDAIIs except if you want a keyboard.
Bohs
I started with a XDA then a XDA2 then i tried the 2s and had 4 of them all the same crappy bluetooth, i now have the 2i and find it works ok, plus i did have some spair batteries and stuf from the old XDA2 that that was good
also like Rutgar what do you mean by outlook is better in the 2s
JOhn
I think outlook means "appearance", or "the looks" if you read sunlight's posts.
XDAIIi
 i really wna know how much is the XDAIIi in the philippines and where can i get it.... hope they will allow monthly installment hehehehheheh
Dude XDA II mini here in pinas worth 38000 pesos and IIs is 48000 pesos expect 60000 for IIi and 100000 for IV..
Wow, that's how expensive XDA back at home? There were quite a bit in Ebay (UK) & the price were cheaper too but I'm not sure if they would ship it back there (Philippines).
Back to forum's question, I'll still go for XDA2i, mainly because of faster processing speed & in my opinion, almost all (not the keyboard from XDA2s of course) features of previous XDA's were in it. I haven't read about XDA4 but I hope it's as good as XDA2i.

Magician 2 ... rumours rumours!!

Don't know if this old news for some ...
http://www.theunwired.net/./?itemid=2696
An identical device to the Magican with WM5, WiFI, 128MB and 2 replaced buttons!
I spoke to our logistics manager today (TMUK) and he confirmed that the Compact II looks the same as the original with Windows 5 OS. Didn't have anymore tech specs to hand although don't be surprised if some more case colours appear. If I get anymore info I'll update.
BulletTime,
many thanks for your reply. Looks like we might get the long awaited WM5 through "official" channels then!
Hence my excitement!
Athena anyone?
I'm not entirely sure if this is the Athena or not. I heard rumours that this could be the athena but I also heard rumours of an athena that has a different shape than the Magician altogether. I think we'll have to wait and see ...
Could be the HTC Prophet
German tmobile also claims a new release of our mdacompact should appear before christmas. And "yes" they say its planned to be equipped with WM2005 wlan and 128mb.
Greetings

So Compact II will be a S110 with windows mobile 5.0? Nothing more, nothing less? Well, at least i think we'll be able to install its rom in our magician in short times!!!
Oh Prophet, we are u???
Bye
Could you please scan page 12 and link it for us?
Or at least tell us what further information about the MDAcII is given on page 12?
Edit:
It seems that the missing page/information is given here.
That's great, because we could use the firmware and have wm5 on our magican i suppose... If anyone have the solution for that please provide us with it.thx

HTC Kaiser

Anybody ahve any info on the Kaiser. Basically a thinner Hermes with GPS as I understand it. It was announced at CES but can't find many details anywhere.
Here you go m8..
interesting...sorta. i looked at the specs and ok so it's got onboard gps enabled and 256MB ROM (Hermes has 128). otherwise it's the same specs as the Hermes.... not enough for me to fork out another $700 to "upgrade".
In the above link the picture shows the slide keyboard open with the screen slightly tilted up. Is it really so?? or maybe just an optical illusion
Regards
Htc Kaiser
Hi, three day ago I saw this new Htc tytn- Kaiser and communicate to our local pda-forum called Mobisux from Ljubljana (capital of Slovenija)very open-minded forum. I was suprised that all expert start asking me: what do you mean with this link - who is behind, I put link http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=733, . I have feeling that I do somethig wrong, than I ask moderator, why my post disappear - he don t answer me? Is this page(pdab.net) fake or what?
Best regards,
Derek
I hope this HTC P4550 (HTC Kaiser) is for real! It will be my replacement for the HTC Hermes. The GPS and the extra memory is a must for me
This one is real, altho the picture is not of the real device, it is picture designed on computer, more like concept art.
My opinion is that it is not worth of upgrade from hermes to kaiser. I am waiting for a hermes/kaiser form factor device with 3D hardware accelerator
Added HSUPA..
Not sure how important this is.. From what gather they probably could add this to our Hermes since it is just a protocol change..
Is it even used anywhere yet?
Also boosted the Camera up a bit..
Having something thinner wouldn't be bad but I won't be changing anytime soon..
From what I can see
Kaiser = Hermes + WM6 + 2x memory + GPS - a liitle bit of size.
In other words practically the perfect device, what else could you want other than a battery that never runs out!!
However, I won't be upgrading, but that's becasue I've only just got my Hermes on an 18 month contract with T-Mobile and I can't justify 5-700GBP for the extra bits of suff. I'm not too upset though; I was one of the first with the Universal (first WM5 device) and I found that having WM5 at the time to be a real pain as nothing properly worked with it. Plus when I look at all the early problems on the early Hermes (screen misalignment) and my own experience, I'm already on my second Hermes (the first HTC device I've ever had a problem with), I do wonder if quality is being sacrificed in place of speed to market, so I console my self that waiting a while for the problems to be ironed out is the best thing to do.
It's also USB 2.0 - hmmm.. USB2, GPS, 256mb, better cam... I think me wants!!!
Matko,Matko
Hi, everybody I am very happy, that I can read something about future pda - Kaiser, becouse in my country our administrator(moderator - I don¨t wanna name it) delete some post about it. And the guys(expert) who translate in Slovenian language whole procedure from this XDA-DEVELOPERS FORUM ask me WHY I make a questions about htc Kaiser and if I am agent for htc. You Slovenian guys ask here :WHY, WHO is behind? this people will answer you, perhaps.
Best regards,
Derek

TyTN vs Zinc - help me choose??

Hi Folks,
I need a bit of help choosing my next PDA, I've had loads of pocketPC, windows mobile devices inc. HP Jornada 548, Tosh 540, Dell X5, iPAQ hx4700 but this will be my first forage into "convergance" devices.
I was originaly tempted to upgrade my phone to the Orange UK version of the HTC TyTN but i'm now getting cold feed with all this talk of new devices due out, I know there are always newer and better just around the corner but I don't want to jump into a 12 month contract just to find a newer and better unit being available next week.
My dilema is this.....after seeing the specs for the O2 Zinc with the Xscale 520Mhz processor and seeing the benchmarks against the TyTN I'm now more inclinded to wait the for the release of this Zinc (26th March 07), however on my travels through the tinternet I have stumbled upon what I would consider my ideal device...the HTC Kaiser, does anybody have any ideas which network will be carring this device and when it will be released????
I'm fairly sure the overwelling opinion on the site will be for the TyTN but I just need to know what makes this device a "No Brainer" compaired to the O2 Zinc.
Cheers Jim

Not really the answer you want, but my philosophy on life is, get the best you can today and not worry about what's out tomorrow... otherwise you'll never get anything because you'll always find that a month or so down the line something better will come out... so to say!
Otherwise, the Zinc does seem impressive... but O2 have already delayed the release once, so who's to say it will actually be out at the end of march anyway
True....Very True. The exception to that case was the iPAQ hx4700. which in my opinion is still one of the very best PDAs out there and its now 2 years old ???
I decided to hang back for the release of the Zinc hoping WM6 will be on it. have you tried flashing your rom to wm6??? if so did you have any problems setting the phone back up for T-Mobile??

I'll agree with you on that... I used to have a hx4700 myself... it was the VGA aspect that appealed to me, but I felt it was before its time... oh, and slightly big!
I think the Zinc will have v5.2 on it???
I've flashed my MDA several times and can almost memorise the internet/mms settings that takes approx. 2 mins to put back in... its all good fun
You may never flash WM6 on a Zinc...

Yeah - similar case here. I flash frequently and I could probably set it all back up again the way I like it with my eyes closed Top tip: get CAB files for all your favourite apps (and any relevant serial numbers) and keep them in a folder on your storage card. That way you can even get all set up from a full reset with nothing but your phone.

Absolutly agree.... I kept all my CAB files on my SD card..Just incase.. but that was WM03se. Is there a HTC "official" rom update available for wm6...where did the wm6 roms come from?? oh and whats the best...
back to the original question,
I own a TYTN and ive had good test run with the Zinc, even though the Zinc has a faster OS the tytn feels faster and reacts better. The finish of the Zinc is a big cheap looking too.
If i was to buy a new phone today it would be the Tytn again, if i was to wait then it would be kaiser or even one of the new samsungs.
Cheers lads.....Just bought a TYTN - Orange SPV M3100 to be more precise.
Now whats the score with all these ROM upgrades.
and is there a today plugin simliar to the Orange today screen
Problem with O2 is the data charges. They're probably the worst out of all the UK networks!
I'd hate to get a phone like the Zinc or Kaiser and have to constantly monitor my data useage.

That's far too big a question. You've got some reading to do - see the wiki
for the mods.. you can delete this message if you want...
i just want people warned specially in asia region that o2 zinc is not that good ..
although better processor ( but you will not see the difference compare to HTC hermes ),camera and o2 integrated software..
THere are many other choices on O2 products... Atom exec, atom life..etc..
Just not this is O2 Zinc is not worth recommending....
or im strongly recommending HTC HERMES (Dopod 838 pro, Softbank, or the HTC Tytn if available) if your fun of slide keyboard...
I promised you this will be a great help on you...
Trust me...
I just want you to be happy like me now..

Recomendations for Uni Replacement

I really do like my Uni but it is just too big to use as a phone. At present I carry use the Uni purely as an organiser. Can any one recommend a phone that has the following.
Keyboard
2.8" screen or larger.
Windows Mobile OS (but willing to consider others)
Smaller than Universal
The difficult bit is it must have IRDA. So this seems to rules out all the new phones. Any suggestions would be great.

If $ is not a problem: HTC Rhodium
There isn´t really a "Replacement", Universal is considered a piece of art on Mobile World
For having another reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=443421&page=3
Thanks for the quick replies guys.
The HTC TyTn (Hermes) would be perfect but they are very difficult to find in the UK. So may need to buy one from the USA.
HTC Rhodium unfortunately has no IRDA.
Totally agree that the universal is one of the best devices ever made. It replaced my aging Psion 5MX which in its day was the best organiser with a fantastic keyboard. It seems strange that such well loved devices are not replaced with newer versions. It has taken 10 years for a serious replacement for the Psion to be made but it costs £500.
Search over ebay.co.uk, theres a lot SPV M3100 devices
I have had a look on pdadb.net and notice that there was a HTC released in the USA by Verizon called the XV6800. It seems to be the same as a Hermes but with built in GPS. Doeas anyone know if this was ever realesed in the UK.

Only the Hermes 100 (i-mate JASJAM, Orange SPV M3100, Cingular 8525). The display on the Hermes 200 (TyTN) is garbage - it's a transmissive display and it turns completely black in sunlight. Hermes 100 had a high quality transflective screen.
