Does anyone here use their MS Mobile 2003 “smart” phone with a Bluetooth car kit?
I wonder if you can help me…
With my old Nokia phone, it used to activate the connection to the car kit when I turned on the engine.
However, on the MDA Compact, I have to go to Bluetooth, select the car kit, and select “Set as Hands-free” every time I get into the car, witch is rather annoying.
Does anyone know how to make this automatic? Is there a third party utility perhaps that would monitor the availability of the car kit every so often, and connect to it automatically when it is available?
And another question, does anyone know of a good utility for voice dialling?
I tried Microsoft Voice Command 1.5, it is alright, more or less (apart from awful recognition of spoken numbers, even if spoken by upper class English people) it does recognise the contact names, witch is all that I need - however, I cannot get it to react when I press the action button on the car kit.
I still have to take the phone out of my briefcase, and hold it in my hand, witch is illegal whilst driving.
My dream application, would be something basic, that I can train for certain contacts that I call regularly (like with my old nokia phone, which appeal glows by the minute) – as this way, thick eastern European accents do not matter ;-)
Thanks in advance for any pointers!
I have the MDA Compact Working with the CK7W form Nokia.
Works good exept the voice dailing, You can thakeand disconnect a call with the remote controle.
But do you have to manualy connect to the car kit every time you get into the car?
Once it is connected, I can accept and end calls using the action button. so that is not a problem
No just hold the center button of the remote for 2 seconds, than it will connetct again

Hold on a minute, I have the same Nokia car kit, and my Compact when connected suffers badly with reported echoes at their end, not mine.
Do you have this problem?
I was to believe that this was a common problem not resolved yet!
Mike.
I'm gonna test this tomorrow in my shop, I will place a list with phones(other than Nokia) that will work with the CK7W
My car kit is CK-1W
I am generaly happy with it, apart from the fact that on the MDA I have to manualy connect every time I get into the car.
I used it with many different phones, and it works fine.
so I think that it is the bluetooth manager of the MDA that is to blame.
my compaq Ipaw bluetooth manager was the best!
but this one, I cannot even get the activesync to work...
For the manual connect you have 2 blame the BT manager in w2003se.
I have good results with:
Nokia CK7W:
Qtek 9090
Qtek S100
Sony Ericsson P910(I)
Sony Ericsson P700i
Samsung D500
HP6340
Are there alternative bluetooth managers?
or a reg. hack I can implement?
thanks
Hmmm, I Don't know...Anyone?
Apparently not…
I had the same problems with my mr handsfree genius car kit, and i thought it was the fault of the car kit.
Just upgrade your rom to 1.06 and all your problems will disappear most likely.
Which rom do you have?
Andre
I have an old ROM.
however, all my atempts at upgrading it failed.
my device ID is something like TMOB-005, not 001
cracked update exe file did not help, running the scripts to modify the ROM files did not help...
in the end I felt inept, and gave up ;-)
This is more FYI others.... when I started looking at new phones some times ago to intergrate in to my car system getting one that was able to do BT headset and com port at the same time was important - and in fact to my knowllage the IJam was the first.
Any way as it seems no ones broached the subject and at the time I would have killed for this info I'm please to say I have tried both my BT carkit and GPS with Tomtom at the same time and it works... I'm currious if I can get 3 concurent connections now
Any way - probably no biggy for most here - its just my was of helping any newbie that comes along searching for this info... like I did once.

Hi Terran,
Out of interest, which BT car kit have you got? I've got to replace two Nokia kits now we've got the 9100's. I've looked at the parrot kits, but am using voice commander and would like a kit that works as well as my Scala bt headset.

The Parrot CK3000 - Had it since it came out and never looked back. Used to cost me ( cos no company even my current one which expects me to travel has ever give me a car kit ) a fortune before BT having to upgrade to specific kits... and they where a pain to install.
Parrot - Can't fault em - but my only tip is buy the upgrade cables... I've upgraded mine several times and it has helped depending on the issue.... for example..
I've not upgraded it this time how ever the other half found the quality of sound from me ( ie in the car ) better than with my T610...
Hope that helps - PS if you want GPS some of the higer models have it built in.
Terran
PPS Any one with a basic under standing of plug socket a in to socket b can do the install in about 10 mins or so.... the worst part is getting the radio out.
Thanks for the reply Terran.
My only concern (aside from the Parrot compatibility, which you've cleared) is that with two 6310i's, if my personal phone rang, I could ping the work one out of the kit and plug in my own within a couple of seconds. I can't find a way to disconnect the 9100 from my BT headset (which operated in hands-free mode too).I asked here, and after 70 views, there have been no replies... I don't know if there's a quick way on the Parrot kit, and if so, how fast I could "connect" the other handset, or, if I'd have to have two kits, one for each phone...

Never tried but my Parrots update is supposed to support up to 3 handsets... you can set which one gets priority...
I think they have a forum so may be its worth having a chat with em.

If you have a CK3000 then this thred ( especially post #20 ) is worth noting...

Dear Sir,
Thanks for visiting our forum.
Concerning your request, with the K750and W800 it's not possble to use the phone's voice recognition system
with the CK3000. This issue to the phone software and unfortunately only Sony Ericssson can make some improvments
on it.
However with the CK3000 evolution, you have the possibility to send contacts from the mobile phone to the car kit.
Thanks to this function, you can use the car kit voice recognition system and no more the phone voice recognition system : we are no more depend on the mobile phone. The knob of the evolution's remote control allows you to select this function by spoken menus. It's the same way like for the CK3100 however instead of a graphic indications you have voice prompts. This function was not possible with with the CK3000.
To change your CK3000 into a CK3000 evolution. You just need to change the car kit software and to change the buttons.
However the software update have to be done using a Parrot Serial cable or by Bluetooth using a Parrot Flash Kit.
That's why we ask to send us the unit.
If you have the buttons and a way to make the update , the transformation into a CK3000 evolution is possible.
However for technical reasons, please send us before an email to our technical support : .
Some situations can cause bad issues and it will be wise to check with us if the transformation is possible.
Please note : Before to make the software update, please erase the car kit memory. You just need to press the green and red button of the car kit at the same time: you will hear MEMORY ERASING PLEASE WAIT and then your can release the buttons. Once you hear PLEASE PAIR DEVICE, the car kit is OK for the update.
Best Regards

In other words if you have the flash kit ( which I do ) all you need to do is upgrade the buttons for £18 and flash the ROM and you have a new upto date Carkit...

Hi all,
I've got a Pioneer P55BT headunit in my car, and it has support for bluetooth to use it as a handsfree, however I cannot connect my Vario II to it, as it doesnt detect it as a phone, so doesnt come up when trying to pair it.
Has anyone managed it? or have any advice?
Cheers
have you tried pioneers tech support on this one? I know its not directly helpful, but if they are not currently aware of a problem they cannot patch the firmware

Solution
Hi,
I've got exacly the same problem with a Vario II and a Pioneer DEH-P75BT. After a lot of email's and phonecalls with pioneer in the Netherlands, they came everytime back with the answer "Your phone is not on the supported models list". Yea i knew that already.
Before my Vario II is always used a SDA without problems. I discovered that when i select hands free from the vario itself, it pairs without problems. The radio just have some problems with discovering the Vario II.
The problem:
The vario II identifies itself as a PDA bluetooth device. The pioneer modules are searching for a phone or smartphone, so it just ignores the Vario II.
Solutions:
Change the COD (Class of Device) from a PDA device to a smartphone device.
This can be done this way:
1. First make sure you've got a backup, or remember all settings you change in the registry.
2. Edit with a registry editor the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\SYS\COD
By default my vario II does have the value: 1048852 (decimal)
Change this to: 5374476 (decimal).
3. Soft restart your device
4. Voila! Your device now identifies itself as a smartphone, and my pioneer unit finds it without problems.

Cheers tho, appeciate it.

that's got to be worth adding to the wiki!
how's it done?
I would def say so, sure it's a problem on a number of devices (i.e. stereos)
It's also a solution for other devices using a Microsoft BT stack.
Maybe it's worth to make it a general wiki update?

Vario II working with 55BT
After several tries with 55BT, I have finally managed to connect it.
The way to do that was only by using radio and not PDA. Wherever I tried to pair the devices from PDA, I was getting PIN code screen over and over.
However, after running detection as advised in the manual from the radio side, all was running fine. What might have helped was the pairing with other phone (Motorola RAZR3 to be precise) and pairing on position 2. Magic but was my case Generally, the worst thing with 55BT was the duality if I may say so of the buttons and knobs changing its funcion is different steps of the pairing - simple mistake and you need to start over.
Given the problems, I have tried Sony BT5000 and it worked like a charm, but I was afraid of the sound quality, given the mic is builin in the radio.
Finally I have decided to go Blaupunkt route, but can confirm, when paired, 55BT was working fine, althoug some echo was present during call.

The problem described above is that the radio doesn't detect the PDA. As i understand from your post, is that your radio does find the PDA by default, right? Or have you paired the pda once, and registered on the radio? This shoud work by default.

flue,
I have the HTC Prophet pda and the pioneer DEH P75BT and have just changed the value in the registry as you suggested (haven't had chance to test it yet though) but I trust it will work.
Have you used the BT Audio function on the stereo to stream music from your pda to the stereo yet?
My experience is that it's a painful process to pair but the quality of music once paired is second to none. I eventually gave up with it though because of the dreadful pairing process.
Could this be to do with the COD? I mean is there a seperate COD code for a wireless stereo?

Hi,
I don't really know if the prophet has a different stack of modified stack for a2dp because i don't use that phone.
I've got the universal and tytn phone here. I never figured out how to get the universal working without stuttering. My conclusion was it's a lack of processor power.
The vario II does work better with a2dp, especially after a soft-reset.
I never got pairing problems with both of them for a2dp. The radio connects fine and directly after choosing "set as wireless stereo" on the phone.
This does have nothing to do with the COD. Even with the COD set to the default value (pda), and you set your radio as headset/wireless-stereo from the phone, is should work without problems. Even registering on the pioneer should be possible then.
The only thing it doesn't with the default COD is automaticly connecting to the bluetooth headset when powering on the pioneer device.
I seems that the pioneeer deh-b75bt does not have the funcionality to auto-connect a2dp, such as the headset does. Too bad
Thanks for the info flue.
I've now had chance to see if the phone will auto connect with the new COD and can confirm that it does. So well done that man!!!!
I can also confirm that both times I tried "set as wireless stereo" it paired with no problems and I was able to listen to mp3's on my phone through my car speakers in almost perfect quality!
BTW I installed the Tornado A2DP hack in order to get A2DP working as the Prophet isn't capable of it without it.
this procedure don't function with my TyTn on mercedes Benz Bluetooth kit.
It recognized the phone with a 16 numbers code but don't pairing. Someone have the same problem ?
Hi guis!I've got an HTC MTeor smartphone and pioneer bluetooth car stereo.Excuse me for the stupid question, but I couldn't understand how to change my phone COD from PDA to smartphone.Where do I have to type this code?Or what settings I have to change? Thank you in advance
I have a DEH-75BT as well. Have anyone found out how to get adress book transferred to the radio?
/Kasper
StoianZh,
The MTeor is a smartphone and its COD will by default already be set to smartphone. No changes are required.

Use outlook on your PC
First do a Select All on your contacts* You may have more than 1000 contacts and if so may wish to break this up into one or two attempts to provent overloading the PC.*
Then choose Action->Forward as VCard
On the mail that appears choose File-> Save Atachments.
Save the VCFs to a folder and move them to your phone.
In the car use SmartExplorerEN or Resco Explorer and Select All the VCFs. Choose Send Files Via Bluetooth and the Headunit will appear in the list. Send them all to the HU

Hi,
I have a HTC TyTN and a Pioneer DEH-P4900IB
I have the same problem as described. If I pair the phone with the Pioneer it will work fine, but as soon as either the car-stereo or the phone's bluetooth has been switched off, it will not automatically connect.
I can either re-pair it, or alternatively choose the Pioneer radio in the list of paired devices on my TyTN, click update, re-choose "Handsfree" and click save.
I have now tried your solution, and unfortunately it hasn't solved the problem.
I still have exactly the same problem. When I turn on my car, the radio will search for bluetooth devices but ends up displaying "NO TEL".
Can anyone help with a solution to this problem?
Thank you in advance.

Hi, I have a Pioneer P75BT. I've used the COD hack, which works very well. Thanks to the original poster.
I've found that I have to leave the Vario II in discoverable mode in order for the P75BT to connect to it automatically, even though the P75BT has the Vario II registered. I can also connect it manually.
I don't like the idea of leaving my Vario in discoverable mode all the time, but it looks like thats the only way to automatically connect each time, unless someone has found another solution. Perhaps its not so much of a problem as I tend to turn off bluetooth on the Vario II when i'm not using it.
Hi.
I am having problems with the mute and communication with a Parrot CK3100 handsfree. Either it doesn't mute the car music equipment nor receives the voice from the Niki, sometimes both sympthoms at the same time. Any idea about the reason?. I have upgraded the Parrot version to the latest one.
Thanks for the help.
There is know problem with Parrot handsfree and touch. I had a problem with htc touch dual and parrot MK6000. After contact with parrot support I got sollution. It works know. If you are stil looking for fix let me know I can search the link I got.
In short you doe following (remove first all pairings betwee your parrot and touch):
1. pair with some other bluethooth phone (I used nokia 6230).
2 disconnect first phone (shoot down bluethooth).
3. now pair with your touch.
Seems very rear but it works wel.
We have the CK3100 running the latest firmware.
The only problems we have had is the occasional ghost call when starting the car.
The kit will just say Call in progress, but nothing on the phone and it is not actually dialing.
A reboot of the phone fixes it.
I also have the same issue with My Kaiser witht he 3100 and the 3400 GPS in my car.
Same problem for me with parrot rytm'n blue
i'll try this solution...pairing with other model....
Thanks for the answers, will follow asmanm recomendations to see if it works and post results (fingers crossed...)

Hi.
IT WORKS with some restrictions!!
What I did:
1) I paired my old but reliable Nokia 6310i with the Parrot CK3100.
2) Switched off the Nokia BT.
3) Paired the HTC Dual and done.
Problems:
1) I got the ghost call when I enter into the car but after some minutes dissapears.
2) Sometimes gets crazy and hungs, mainly when I dial from the Parrot. If you dial from the phone, then no problems.
Hope it helps.

problem with minikit
Hi all,
I have a problem with the dual touch and the parrot minikit.
- the connection between the two devices is ok
- when I'm called or I call someone, I hear very well my correspondants but they don't hear me, I have to use the mute mode and use my phone to continue the discussion.
I have already tested the solution purposed on this thread but it doesn't work aith my dual touch

same prob here
got touch dual w mk6100
it doesnt work pretty good.
the ghost call happens once in a while, but can be repaired w a call and hung. its fast.
sometimes i can hear some interferences when listening to music.
to make better calls i prefer to use the voice dialing from the dual. pressing the green button on remote control mk6100 starts the voice dialing in the dual. didnt try the mk6100 though.
it is very important the parrot disconect, i had some issues coz it didnt say "bye", pretty stupid but it is important.
i still have some issues w the 100ms stop music. (music stops every now and then for less than a second)
i gotta say they dont hear me pretty good. dont know why yet.
till searching on satparrot.com
I too am having trouble connecting with CK3100.
emailed HTC Australia who were less than helpful, with this :-
"Bluetooth should be universal or is marketed as universal although it is far
from the truth. Certain chipsets conflict or are incompatible with others. If a
device is not fully compatible it will not offer all features or possibly not
connect at all.
This is hardware related and not a software issue. This will not be effected by future update for the handset."
Parrot were more use, with this :-
"Hello sir ,
Indeed we notice several compatibility issues with ck3100 and htc touch dual
That's why we haven't listed this phone in our compatibilty list
Our technical engineers are currently on this issue inorder to find the solutions , when it be solved this phone will be listed at this adress below :
http://www.parrot.com/documents/en/support/ck3100_notes_new.txt
Moreover we have several feedbacks from our clients , who informed us that windows mobile 6 works better with ck 31OO software version
4.15
if you are intrested you can use 4.15 software version which is in enclosed mail"
Will try when I have time.

Does any one have one of these bluetooth car kits and if so does the HD pair successfully?
Yes works not problem with mine - much better that with my tytn ii. calls fine both from parrot & phone answer and hang up & contacts all OK.
you should try the THB CC9060
works very well with my HD and you can A2DP the music to the audio input of the ICE
CK3100
I have S2U2 installed, and use a Parrot CK3100 Kit, and have no problems whatsoever making or receiving calls! I've used several WM devices on the same kit and never had a problem!
Hi,
I have a parrot and I also do not have any connection at all. The parrot keeps asking me for a password.
I have read that you can update the parrot device with bluetooth, so I will try it and I will let you know...
Yes S2U2 installed and no problems, if you have never updated the firmware on the parrot it may be worth looking at that, I had to upgrade it when using my tytn ii as it kept dropping - after the upgrade problems disappeared.
I have 3100,HD and S2U2 and no problem at all.
But I updated to the last rom of Parrot's hads free (look for in his web).
It has few improvements, one of the with WM phones and an other one, very important for me is the possibility to increase the characters cize (for the contacts) in the screen (they were too small before).
Try it
Yup, I have an HD with S2U2 and no problems.
I updated the firmware of the CK3100 about a year ago. When was the last firmware update released?
I have a Parrot 3200 in my car and it took several attempts to get it to hook up. Used to have a 3100 in the wifes previous car - IIRC my diamond took a few goes hooking up to that also (the p/w is 1234 for those IIRC) I found that after an unsuccessful attempt, a soft reset then try again and it worked first time - might be worth a shot?

Hi,
Found the solution to my problem. I had already 5 phones in the list .
Removed one and paired the HD Touch without any problems...
Hi,
I also used the parrot ck3100 in combination with Touch HD. First it didn't work. Also had already 5 paired devices ;-). After removing one it still didn't work. Updated the Parrot with my laptop and the Parrot update device and now it works splendid!

great to hear, same problem, just downloaded the software will let know results.
Is it not possible to upgrade using our HD's? I'm not sure the Bluetooth will work on my laptop with it having Windows 7 on it...

Does any one have one of these bluetooth car kits and if so does the HD pair successfully?

I have got 3200color. it's paired successfully. But for the contacts i am not sure since I have it transfered to 3200Color before.
Okay, it all worked fine. That's actually the second time I've updated the firmware... not sure I notice any differences.
Has anyone used the VCF creator?
