Activesync 4 Problem... - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Can someone help me?
I was using Activesync 3.8 with no problem. But recently I installed Activesync 4.0 and I can no longer sync my Mini with my PC...
I even tried uninstalling 4 and reinstall 3.8 but it got worst. The Activesync software won't even run...
Anyone can help?

having exactly the same problem. Cant connect my S100 (jam) or Smartphone c500. This is after I loaded AS4 then removed the software and re-installed AS3.8. Nothing connects anymore. Infact, you can't even get into
AS3.8 now! might try AS3.7.1. Any ideas any1?

This was a know issue with the early beta release of 4.0. Have you tried the official release from a few days ago?

I thought I did download the official release, however, I cant find it now. So are you saying the old beta release stopped you going back to AS3.8?
by the way tried AS3.7.1 and nothing.

Official release? And where would that be available? So far 3.8 is the latest version I can find for download at www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile.

I tried the 4.0 beta and it wouldn't let me use AvantGo so I tried to revert, but I had to reinstall Windows before I could solve it. 4.0 beta is a big no-no.. Wait a week or something and it will come a 4.0 final.

I've done that (well, sort of, I didn't delete the whole directoy, only the the files and the drivers directory in it and kept the folders for the installed programs) and it didn't work out, AS 3.8 still wouldn't open or set up a partnership.

I am assuming most guys are using XP, if that is the case, you could also delete the application data files
c:\ -> docs and settings-> [user profile] -> application data -> microsoft -> active sync -> profiles
you can delete the profiles folder or the entire active sync folder, and if you cannot see the application data folders, you will need to show the hidden files tools -> view -> show hidden files

Let me clarify on Active Sync 4. Active Sync 4 final is not out yet. What is out is Developer preview version (ActiveSync4.0 Build 4343 to be exact)
This version has lot of quirks. Unless you are using Microsoft® Windows Mobile Version 5.0 it is not advisible to shift to it yet.
As of now ActiveSync 4.0 is compatible with the following operating systems and applications and nothing else:

• ActiveSync 4.0 does not support Backup/Restore of mobile device data.
In order for ActiveSync 4.0 to properly display extended characters in some languages, you might need to change the language that is used for non-Unicode programs.
To change the language that is used for non-Unicode programs, perform the following procedure.
1. From the desktop Start menu, select Settings, select Control Panel, and then select Regional and Language Options.
2. In the Regional and Language Options dialog window, select the Advanced tab.
3. Choose from the available languages in the Language for non-Unicode programs list, which determines the language that ActiveSync 4.0 uses.
When a device is connected to a PC over an USB connection that goes through an external USB hub, you might experience connection instabilities such as drops in the connection, or an unresponsive desktop PC. For more information about this issue, see article 817900, "USB port may stop working after removing or inserting USB device" in the Microsoft Knowledge Base at http://support.microsoft.com.
To successfully uninstall ActiveSync 4.0 and reinstall a previous version of ActiveSync on your desktop PC, perform the following procedure.
1. Uninstall ActiveSync 4.0.
2. Open File Explorer, navigate to the System32 directory in your Windows directory, and then manually delete the dynamic-link library Rapi.dll.
3. Reinstall the previous version of ActiveSync.
Other Problems
• If the desktop PC operating system is upgraded, or a Service Pack is installed, you must perform a repair installation of ActiveSync in order to enable the expected ActiveSync functionality.
• If the Windows Media Player application is upgraded to Windows Media Player 10 after you have installed ActiveSync on your desktop PC, you must perform a repair installation of ActiveSync. This enables successful Media Synchronization to a Windows Mobile-based device.
• If the desktop PC operating system is Windows XP SP1, EHCI USB 2.0 host controllers might cause unexpected drops in the USB connection between the PC and a device.
For information about successfully resolving this issue, see article 822603, "Availability of the Windows XP SP1 USB 1.1 and 2.0 Update" in the Microsoft Knowledge Base at http://support.microsoft.com.
• Multiple simultaneously running user sessions on a desktop PC that is running ActiveSync are not supported.
• If non-Microsoft firewall software is installed and running on your desktop PC, you might need to configure the software to allow the following ports in order for ActiveSync to function: 5678, 5679, 990, 26675, and 5721.
• Sometimes antivirus software that is installed on your desktop PC can conflict with ActiveSync functionality.
• In rare cases, some LAN configuration tools might also conflict with an ActiveSync connection. To enable your Windows Mobile-based device to successfully synchronize with your desktop PC, you might need to disable the LAN configuration tools.
In most of the time it is outlook which is going to cause problem if it is not the default e-mail client. If you get error in synchronising then go to outlook help menu and choose detect and repair followed by reboot which should solve the problem

Install the PPC2003 rom please.
If you don't know how to, please wait for the USB update or official update.
Just to confirm that WMP version 9 is only available as part of the new Windows Mobile 2003 O/S. I'm guessing we should see this available for download before the end of the month, else shortly after.

Error "Version of ActiveSync not compatible with the co

Version of ActiveSync not compatible with the connected mobile Device
This is the error I receive no matter what I have read to do or not do to my Desktop PC.
These are the setting in the Device:
New I-Mate Jasjar with
ROM Version: 1.12.38 WWE
ROM Date 8/24/05
Radio Version: 1.03.00
Protocol Version: 42.36.P8
ExtRom Version: 1.12.120 WWE
I realize that there is a new Rom Update but I can't sync with my Desktop to get the file? 62 MB by the way.
These are the actions I took to try and rid this error message.
Cleared Temp folder (%temp%) in all user accounts.
In the registry deleted HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services key
Deleted HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services
Uninstalled Microsoft Activesync from Add/Remove Programs
Deleted Activesync folder from Programs Files
Restarted the computer
Installed Microsoft Activesync 4.0 many times and 4.1.0 Build 4807 many times all the while deleting the other before the new install.
This is what happens after a new install.
The device is seen by my Computer running Windows XP SP2 and loads the device- At this point everything looks good.
ActiveSync start and actually connects to the device but only as a GUEST not as the device name that I imputed in the JASJAR.
NEXT the Error occurs “This Version of Microsoft ActiveSync is not compatible with the connected mobile device. Please upgrade to the latest Version of Microsoft ActiveSync and reconnect."
If I click on the OK button underneath the error. The device connects but I cannot explore the contents or sync to the device whatsoever.
Could anyone aid in getting this problem resolved. I have spent over 10 hours trying to figure this out looking at all other forums but no one seams to have a resolution.

Update to Above
I just went out and purchased a new computer and installed Activesync 4.1 and outlook 2003 Xp on the XP Pro machine. When I went to connect the USB cable it found a new Pocket PC device but didn't list that it found the JASJAR. Then activesync started and it happened again.
This Version of Microsoft ActiveSync is not compatible with the connected mobile device. Please upgrade to the latest Version of Microsoft ActiveSync and reconnect."
When I click on OK I get connected as a Guest account only but can't see any items on the Pocket PC.
I had the same problem...
It's a compatibility issue with Antivirus.
Uninstalled the antivirus and the device got recognized

8525 - Daylight Savings Time Change in March 11, 2007

Does a download exist for the 8525 to correct for the daylight savings time change? I've been unable to locate a download specific to or referencing the 8525.

Intellisync and Niki problems

Hi.
I have installed Intellisync on my device so I could replicate my job email. But the phone keeps rebooting after each sync.
Anyone had the same issue? Or even better, does anyone have a solution for this. It is pretty annoying when my phone reboots 20 times a day. At least...
I am desperately looking for a solution to this as well.
Is there perhaps a setting, that eliminates this reboot?
Why do you use Intellisync? Is it for an yahoo account?
IntelliSync was originally bought for sync'ing a couple of Nokia Communicators directly with our Notes server. But it never really worked...
So I convinced my boss, that a Windows Mobile device would do the job. And it actually does.
I log on to the Notes server, and make a setup for a WM device. Then IntelliSync sends a textmessage with a wap-link for a CAB-file directly to the phone. After installation on the phone, I have a complete Office-package with calendar, contacts, e-mail, etc.
BUT...
The problem is that each time the device has sync'ed, it performs an automatic restart. It can pretty annoying when the device makes 10 restarts, or more, every day.
Upgrade or install Client Patch
What version of the intellisync and client pack are you running? I had this issue on windows mobile devices with a particular version 8 client pack, it was a bug in the windows mobile client install. Nokia released a patch to resolve the issue or you could just upgrade to the latest Server/Client pack which should also do the trick. Info on the patch below, although it says TyTN if i remember correctly it affected my other windows devices as well.
Summary
This is a client patch that resolves a problem with soft resets occurring for the HTC TyTN II (WM) device. This patch is only applicable to Nokia Intellisync Mobile Suite server version 8.0.70.35 (8.0 SP3).
New Features
There are not any new features with this patch only corrections to an identified problem with the Windows Mobile client. Please refer to KB article 1355353 for more information regarding the items which were corrected with this patch.
Requirements
Must have Intellisync Mobile Suite 8.0.70.35 (8.0 SP3) server installed. Please use the following instructions to install the updated client pack to the server:
Stop the Nokia Intellisync Mobile Suite (NIMS) server.
Backup the existing <NIMS HOME>\ClientInstalls\SyncClient\PocketPC2005MTM and <NIMS HOME>\ClientInstalls\SyncClient\Smatrphone2005MTM folders by moving them to another location outside of the <NIMS HOME>\ClientInstalls folder.

ActiveSync 4.5 Problem

Hi everybody!
I'm having some trouble connecting a pocket pc to my pc. I'm getting the following error message from activesync when I try to establish a partnership connection:
"Cannot verify the version of ActiveSync on your device. A program such
as a firewall may be blocking a port ActiveSync uses to connect to the
device, or you may need to upgrade to a more recent version od
ActiveSync on the PC"
Even if I try to cardle a virtual pocket pc (visual studio) I get the above message.
I'm using activesync 4.5 on a windows xp service pack 3 pc. Installing AS 3.8 would solve the connection/partnership problem but I must use AS 4.5 because Visual Studio does not except older versions of AS.
I've tried so far everything: allowed all ports needed for AS (even deactivated the firewall) - I tried to delete the partnership folders but found out that they haven't even been created by AS.
Even google couldn't really help me: most people get this error message because they have installed a HSDPA usb modem driver from hauwei. But I did not.
does anyone have a solution for this strange problem?

I have the same problem. I once got into it through My Computer but since then I've had no luck whatsoever!

if you're not using visual studio just install active sync 3.8 as mentioned above. But I found an uggly solution: Cardle you pocket pc - you will get the regular error message. then open the taskmanager and kill the process rapimgr.exe and restart it again (C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync)
Uncardle and recardle the pocket pc again - you will get a critical error message but it can be ignored. Now you will be able to accees your data.
To deploy your software on pocket pc with visual studio you might restart the remote rocedure call locator (Control panel -> administrative tools -> services)
hope I could help you! but I'm really not satisfied with this solution. I'm open for better ways to solve this problem.
