Hi,
I am looking for a good maps or navigation software that would allow me to find my way around cities in europe without the use of a GPS receiver. So in other words - I would like a nav or maps software that would replace a comprehensive map book.
So far - I am very happy with Map & Guide - Top Cities Amsterdam.
http://www.itreviews.co.uk/software/s223.htm
It allows you to find a street in Amsterdam, displays the map, allows you to plan your route and traces the route on the map. The map scrolls very nicely with the drag of the stylus - overall an excellent piece of software - with just one complaint - it's only Amsterdam and does not cover other smaller cities.
TomTom does not work if you don't have a bluetooth GPS receiver - so you can't just use TOMTOM like an electronic map.
Microsoft Streets and trips does work - however it's interface and display are very outdated and it's street search function is also not very good.
Any program out there that may do the job?

Hi All,
TomTom may be great for street navigation, but if you want to use your pda for hiking or 4x4 adventures then you need to use topographical maps. I have found oziexplorer to be excellent for this and have used it on my notbook up until this point.
Does anybody tryed using it on there universal, or have heard anything?
Thanks
hi, i no that the x1 does not have a built in GPS.
but i have seen videos where ppl actually use it as a gps.
maybe they install sum sort of application into the phone?
can any1 please explain how does GPS work on the x1?
THanks alot, any information is greatly appreciated...
X1 has built-in GPS so you can use Tom-Tom, Garmin, iGo, ...
Just install the program (garmin, tomtom, iGo or something else for windows mobile). If you won't be able to connect with GPS satellite just do the hard reset on the phone. Than go to Quick GPS in your programs and download the latest gps positions.

Wow sounds like someone just got the X1 out of the box.
1. Go to Start > Settings > System > GPS Settings (or something with GPS)
There you can select what COM port the GPS chipset will use to communicate with the OS or any other software.
2. Use the "HTC GPS tool" to see if you get GPS signals outdoors. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360477
The X1 doesn't come with any GPS applications installed, but you can add a number of other programs that use the GPS facility.
For example, you can install TomTom Navigator 7, Garmin Mobile 20 or iGo8 for turn-based car satnav.
Or you can use the phone as a GPS locator for something like Geocaching (GPS based treasure hunts). GCz2 / Geocaching
Or you can use Google Maps to find out where you are and let your friends know with Latitude. Google Maps with Latitude
Or you can use the GPS facility to "geotag" photos, that is embed the location where the picture was taken inside the image data. Footprints
so is it normal that when using google map, i cant find any satellite??
if you enabled gps in googlemaps
and of cause stand outside as gps generally don't work in doors
only outside and in cars and the likes
Hi,

I use
Garmin
Ozi
Gps Tuner
There is a program that with it, you can easily download maps and satellite view from Google and use it in garmin....
I use Garmin when I want to go to a place and need navigation help while I am driving...but for other uses I use OZI because I downloaded all of maps I need from google...
Good luck!
Hello, is there an offline navigation map for the Titan because I don't have a data plan and need one that has maps of the US, or at least eastern US with voice navigation. Is there any software for this?
Thanks
I use NaviComputer with a map I downloaded using their tool. While the maps I got include small streets it doesn't display their name. If anyone finds a way to display their names let me know.
