DUN, USB Modem problem

hi, I have kjam. I use the dialup networking via bluetooth for my laptop. After 5min of connection there will be no receive at all. I disconnect and try to make a call but no luck. I reset kjam, same problem. I use usb modem, still the same. I call ISP they said they don't have a problem. My brother uses edge with no problem(not kjam)
rarely kjam will connect correctly.
I have lastest english rom
Works flawless on my magician for hours.
M
oltp, did you use the DUN using wizard?
Well actually I'm using the USB modem dialler on my magician. So it's connecting via gprs. I'm on flatfee gprs, so haven't tried DUN.
What happens when you surf the net on your wizard, does it keep the connection alive?
M
I can surf internet perfectly in Wizard. The connection will not drop. But, If I use DUN and disconnect due to no receiving of data, I can't surf internet anymore in Kjam or even I can't make a call. So, I use a soft reset.
Strange! Today I've downloaded 1.2Gb files in 20hrs without losing connection.
Why sometimes it worked and sometimes it fails, is it a rom bug? or I have a hardware problem?
Pls help!
Oh man!
I tried Windows XP SP1. It worked for 2 hours then the same hell problem came again!!
I think I'll throw kjam through the window. :x
Maybe no body used kjam as a modem, so no one will help me
PLS HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Solved my GPRS re-connect problem

Many of you on this bb has a problem that GPRS doesn't re-connect and you have to reset or turn flight mode on/off to get connected again.
Here is what I did and mine has now been working for 3-4 weeks as it should be working. Shows to me that none of the software like Wisbar, Pocket Plus etc is causing it.
In SETTINGS/CONNECTIONS, under CONNECTIONS I have My ISP and My Work Network. Under both I used to have WAP, where it will use GPRS to connect. I have deleted the WAP GPRS option under My Work Network, to have nothing under Modem Connection, I only have WAP GPRS under My ISP in the Modem Connection.
Also, I used to have my work's settings in VPN, which I have also taken out. When I activesync via GPRS, my phone used to connect to the GPRS server and then tried to connect to VPN. After that I couldn't re-connect with GPRS.
After I have done the above, my phone now connects flawlessly everytime using the actievsync mobile schedule and when connecting manually.
O yes, I also run GB-Soft's GPRS tweak which can be found at http://www.GB-Soft.cz/XDAII
Well I was very sceptical about this. But I too deleted the WAP settings under Work and in the last month I haven't been unable to connect once.
So either this works or O2 have solved a problem with their network (I did not have the problem last winter in Singapore, Malaysia, or Australia iirc.)
The only other difference to my setup is that I now use Activesync 4.2 rather than 3.x
I am on Vodacom in South Africa, and what I have done above works for me. I only reboot my phone now to clear memory to free up some or when I need to run my GPS software, then I reboot to give it as much memory as possible.
I posted a solution that works for me, use, don't use it, up to you.
Hey, I was saying thanks - I believe it works

Sorry, my mistake, this part was confusing, as it looks like you couldn't connect.
Yes,
"I have always been able to connect first time" would have been a lot better than the double negative

IE not conecting by WLAN but only GPRS

I have done as best a search as I can of this forum but I have not found an answer to my problem.
I have an O2 MDA mini S and until recently all was well and I had no problems at all using Internet Explorer to connect to the internet through my WLAN. However, last week I had to do a hard reset and rebuild the machine. Since then Internet Explorer will not connect through the WLAN and gives the following message. “Cannot connect. Ensure your phone is turned on and correctly configured…..” WLAN is working fine, AvantGo updates over it as does SBSH Pocket Weather. PIE will connect via GPRS but when at home why pay O2 good money! I have tried various things in the connections, network cards and Wireless LAN folders. This is becoming very frustrating and if anyone out there can offer help or advice I thank you in advance and will be most grateful!!!

wifi problems

hi all...
i just purchased a mda vario 2 and i seem to be having problems connecting to internet explorer and msn messenger via wifi. i have set up the wifi connection and it all shows that i am connected. but it just doesnt find any pages or connects to my messenger. any ideas guys? i know most of the topics on here are to do with some form of connection problem or what not.... so i will appreciate any advice.
settings->connections->Connections->advanced->sellect network
odd ms havent addres'd this a long time agoe judging for how many people who ask this question
but then guess it's the same thing for pc users who wanna change between their internet access between wifi, nic and modem
I don't think that this is the issue because my wm5 os seamlessly switched from wifi to gprs.. I see the same issue where I can access the new through the gprs setting but not through the wifi when connected to an access point. I know that the wifi accesspoint works cause I can access it on my laptop. I think it has to do with a registry setting..

Cannot Connect ActiveSync via GPRS using MyWork Network

Very Strange Problem with ActiveSync over GPRS.
I upgraded Imate JasJam WM6.0 to HTC HD2 Telstra WM6.5.
Device uses activesync over Telstra NextG to My Work Network with Exchange Server 2003. Setup the new HTC with the same work network authentication credentials, used the same Activesync credentials for Exchange Mail Server. I now have the default Telstra Internet connection plus MyWork Network connection. The new WM6.5 connections area is a little different but not too difficult. I started it up and worked first time. Fantastic.
I purchased another HTC HD2 and did the same for a work colleague. Once again worked first shot. Fantastic. Couldn't be happier with the trial.
Purchased 10 more for the rest of the team to upgrade their Jasjams. Setup the next one and no worries with the connection but it would not start active sync. Then setup the next one, with exactly the same problem - activesync spins for about 30secs then pops the 'Cannot Connect' error. Then I setup the next HTC and it worked perfectly. The Jasjam upgrade program is now stopped pending resolution!
So we have 3 that will sync to exchange mail and 2 that won't. I still have a drawer full of brand new HD2's so I try other devices, same problem. I move the SIM back into the JasJam, no problems so its not the SIM or the user credentials. So I try using my own credentials into a HD2 that won't sync and get the same problem, HOWEVER, without touching my own working HD2 whule testing the faulty one, my own device will now not sync either.!
The Work Connection dials telstra.corp and my credentials establish the connection OK which does work and can run other remote apps. The cannot connect error has a blank where you would expect to see the number dialed so it means that activesync no longer knows how to connect. If I change the internet connection from Telstra Internet to MyWork Connection then activesync works OK. Then change it back to Telstra Internet and Activesync still works OK, so that seemed to solve the problem, but now the device cannot connect to the Internet. This is all very strange.
Have tried internet/dedicated setting but this seems to ignore me anyway.
Have tried diabling '...Faster Data Sync..'
Device syncs via a USB/PC connection without a trouble.
Anyone got any ideas. Thanks
Workaround found but its still strange behaviour.
On the HD2 the Telstra connections can't be edited so I created a new one and supplied the access point, IP address and proxy from the old JasJam. The HD2 now has my work connection and my own version of the Telstra connection. This seemed to do the trick. I now have Internet from Telstra and activesync via GPRS to my work Exchange Server.
However what caused Activesync to not know how to connect in the first place?
I would appreciate any ideas you might have. Thanks
I have been having exactly the same issue as posted above and have been tearing my hair out for the last couple of days trying to fix it.
I am syncing using ActiveSync on my HD2 ( WM6.5 ) to Google calendar using google sync and was getting the same unable to connect error or ActiveSync just sitting there saying Waiting for Network.
Syncing worked fine if I connectd to my Wireless network but OTA just wouldn't work.
After much googling I came upon this thread so tried setting up a new connection to Telstra Internet but this didn't fix it.
But then I happened upon the solution, so thought I'd spend the time posting it here in case it can help somebody else with the issue.
Open Tools/ActiveSync on the HD2, then Menu/Options.
Highlight "Microsoft Exchange" and press Settings.
Assuming your settings are already entered and correct, press Next until you see the list of what to Sync (Contacts, Calendar etc).
Now press MENU and select Advanced.
Under Connection, change this to Internet (click OK if you get a warming about not using a dedicated connection) , and press Save then Finish, and finally press OK.
As soon as I did this syncing worked via the Telstra Internet connection and has worked perfectly for the whole of today.
So I hope this helps somebody else out there who like me may have been googling for ages trying to find a solution to this issue.
No Activesync Through Telco Connection
I was also having activesync issues. The connection worked fine via WiFi through any access point (home, work, friend's house) but would not sync through Telstra Internet.
I was trying the "internet" option rpalmer68 mentioned when I stumbled upon the "Sync data when roaming" setting in >SETTINGS >DATA SERVICES >ACTIVESYNC.
After turning this on magic began to happen. All working perfectly.
I realised that I still had the "internet" connection set as above and went back to change it when I noticed it had changed to "dedicated".
I am using stock standard Telstra issued HD2 and haven't needed to modified any network connections.
This may be a simpler solution to try with the same outcome.
I had the same problem with my HD2. Changing the "Sync data when roaming" made no difference.
But rpalmer68's solution worked perfectly.
I noticed that I had to set the connection to Internet (this made it work). And then, when I checked the settings later, it had changed itself to Dedicated.
Setting the connection to Dedicated myself did not solve the problem (it changes itself back to blank).
