Hello everybody,
It is my first post in this web. I have sold my XDA, two weeks ago, and now i am reading post in different webs about the new realises like XDA IIi, the new magician wi-fi built-in and the MDA IV 3g, because i want to buy a new one, but i don´t know wich one.
I have read about XDA IIi, that the camera is a crap, and the WI-FI ok, the screen worse than XDA IIs, but can anybody tell me more about it?.
The speed of processor, The BT function, Whatever you can about it.
Do you think the new Magician wi-fi built in is a good competitor or is low in services if we compare with XDA IIi.
I would like not to wait for the MDA IV, but do you think it worths?.
Thanks
Hi mate,
Well I'm unimpressed by the XDAIIi tbh.
There are a fair few improvements, like landscape mode in WM2003SE. And the built in WiFi is great. The new Bluetooth manager is allot better also; you actually get some kind of BT management
However the screen really is worse than the XDAII (cant vouch for XDAIIs) I used a friends original XDA and the screen on that was pretty poor, although I cant directly compare it with the XDAIIi anymore as said mate moved away.
It really is a toss up over which features you want most in your XDAII.
I'm still split, and have about a week to decide whether to return it or not.
The cam really is crap! A friend at work needed a quick pic for the web the other day, he laughed at the image and for the rest of the day used his Nokia!!
The choices are still fairly limited- the WiFi Magician and the XDA/MDA IV are still just development models.
The XDA IIi definitely has a problem with the camera, otherwise it is an evolution of the XDA II. The WiFi and Bluetooth enhancements are real improvements, and in the UK, the new O2 Active is getting to the point of being fairly useful, as long as you don't allow it to load after a reset. And of course, WM2003SE is an improvement.
The main problem with the Magician is the lowly memory (64Mb RAM and 64Mb ROM, as opposed to the IIi with 128 RAM and 128 ROM, or the IIs with 128 RAM and 96 ROM). The extra ROM on the IIi amounts to a 59Mb user area additional to the normal RAM.
With regards to the screen- there have been a few faulty ones with a poor resolution and yellowish tinge. Mine is a joy- much clearer and brighter than my XDA II, which always had a rather dark screen.
Even at Normal (416MHz) speed, the IIi is faster than the II or IIs, and at Turbo (524MHz) is much faster but with reduced battery life. When I was benchmarking the IIi against the II using SpB Benchmark, one interesting fact was that RAM writes were slower on the IIi- whether this is down to the O/S or not I can't say, but if the write speeds had been equivalent, then the IIi would have been much faster at both speeds.
Thank you, very much guys for your responses. I have been reading a lot about the new pockets phone edition, and i have decided to buy the qtek 9090.
I think it would be an intermediate step to the MDAIV.
I hope to have taken the best choice.
Any commnet??
Great!

Thanks a lot Jerome 8)
Don´t loose my new subject in todopocketpc.com, about at least 10 different places to buy qtek 9090. It is quite interesting, if looking for prices and aditional information(time of delivery, transport prices).

Nice enthusiasm but is it really necessary to start a new thread just to say that?

That's as general as it gets.

I would have to agree with you that this is an amazing phone. Coming from the nexus I am very happy with the switch... just hope development for it takes off soon. That is one thing I greatly miss from my old nexus.

Sexiest phone out of the Galaxy S line up by far...
Omg my vibrant came today, but i had it sent to my cousins house because i work all day, and they are not around.....
I need to play with my damn phone. Let me have it *sob*
**** 100 POSTS TODAY, OH YEA
I also love my vibrant coming from a nexus one... the only thing the nexus had over this was development, flash for cam , trackball/notification led... I love the vibrants the awesome Multitouch, bigger brighter screen/samoled, awesome processor/gpu (hell benchmarks are about the same as the rumored dual core T-Mobile phone), And I actually like touch wiz believe it or not..... I don't have a gps issue and even if so if it get me close I'm smart enough to figure out the rest, I can wait for a fix because from what I can tell mine works great , got me to a few places already no problem .... compass is wack but I've never used that so don't effect me.
I love the music player and the tw music player interface . Its got a sweet movie player too that plays avi and xvid like a champ...
All around I'm happy I made the switch, the n1 with fake Multitouch did it for me, I had to move on.... awesome phone..
You don't want positive posts here, now do we haha...*cough* jon c and byron or bryon.
I love my phone too!!!! I have had it officially two weeks now and so far so good. No GPS problems here, no menu button problem, no lag (not even close), I tested it side by side with my friends evo and this phone still went faster and looked crisper, no skipping, no nothing baby! Finally someone who had nice things to say about this phone.
I know this will probably bother some of you, but I haven't liked a phone this much since my iphone 3g. HD2 horrible, slide good phone but small.

As much as I love my phone, you gotta question what these samsung industrial designers were thinking!!!!!!!!
It would've been the perfect phone!!!! Anything design but this iphoneness ****
oh well, i still love the phone tho
I own them all (I deal in phones) and the only that competes with the vibrant is the iPhone 4 display (incredible) but I still keep my sim in my vibrant (mostly)

Ya know, it's true. With all the negative stuff about the phones gps and compass problems, it actually IS nice to see a positive thread about it! I too have the same gps and compass problems. BUT, unless they are hardware related I will patiently wait for fixes. I am just so pumped about the speed Froyo will bring!!!
*although the data and apps stored to the internal sd card thing does concern me because the I/O is lame in comparison to the Droid X. Why would sammy gimp their awesome hardware like that?!?!
It's only been out for a little while. It will only get better from here. And it's pretty dang good right now!
Hi all,
As I just said its been released in Spain and I was wandering if I should get it over the desire hd its in same price range so money ain't a problem but people seem to have major issues with the galaxy .
4" screen is more than enough for me but I saw the samoled in action and is amazing the camera I hear its good too, so what should I do?
I have a really hard time recommending the Galaxy S. I could really use a working gps and a cached map navigation. The lag is really frustrating as well but as you can see with the xda app it's still usable and games run smoothly. So to answer your question: it depends what you plan to do with the phone.
Also don't forget that the desires already have 2.2 and don't put your hopes up that samsung fixes current issues.

GPS accuracy improvements are on the way, and for map caching on sd card you can use this:

To OP: No phone is perfect.
If you don't want to flash or root your phone, you would have to wait until 2.2 comes to fix the majority of the various bugs / improvements needed. Samsung is apparently working on it 24/7, hopefully we'll get a release by the end of October.
Compared to the Desire HD, the immediate difference is the screen quality.
Cached maps navigation sure seems like heaven especially with compas integration, im directionally challenged so it could help me a lot, the 2.2 out of the box and first probable phone to get 3.0 is definetly a plus...
I really like the screen and video format integration it always pissed me off that i have to convert videos to watch on my phone. and I use my phone to listen to music how is the SGS in that regard?
What is youre experience with the phone (i know sammy isnt the best manefacturer but whats the problem beside the gps?)

Nope, I've had a Hero and the sound quality is much better. The original earphones that come with the SGS are bull****, from this comes the bad sound quality. If you have or buy good earphones the sound quality is great.

Interesting... the earbuds that came with mine are actually pretty good. Not as good as my £40 Sennheiser earbuds, but very close! Good bass response, uncoloured midrange. The trebble is a little harsh sometimes at max volume but that's to be expected.
Makes me wonder if perhaps mine weren't manufactured by Samsung.
If you don't care flashing, then the Galaxy S is ok.
I think the Desire HD will be better out of the box though.
I don't mind flashing...if its a resonable amount.
I can buy either just have a hard time deciding which one.

You should try them out!
The HD is quite heavy compared to the Galaxy (I held it briefly) but feels much more robust. That being said, I have the Galaxy S since August and nothing has happened to it yet.
I have used the normal desire (non HD) and it seems to be much snappier than the galaxy s. That of course doesn't mean that the HD will be as snappy. The Sense GUI seems to be better than touchwiz.
With JM6 and the voodoo lagfix, the Galaxy is doing ok. I am really happy with it.
If I were you I would wait a little bit to see what's going to happen with Froyo and hear first real impressions about the HD.
wasnt froyo realeased for the SGS? at least unofficialy?

this is the best phone available on the market right now!
if you can wait, then wait for better stuff comming out on 2011
if you need a new phone now get the Galaxy S
strong, good for protection out of the box, see the videos on the wiki
great reception
GPS works good contrary to what you have read here in the forum, it just depends on the firmware
the Camera is amazing, Video recording as well
Audio is the finest quality on both the 3.5 and via Bluetooth 3.0
if you have a car with BT stereo support, you'll love it!
the LAGs that you read about is not real, it all comes down to maintaining your phone with the autorun killers and task managers to optimize the phone.
WiFi N is very fast, i get up to 87 Mbps on it, not as fast as PC but fast enough to transfer large files, without using the USB
SAMOLED screen is amazing.
Well don't mind installing the lagfixes and if I keep waiting for a better phone il never have one T-T but I do want a tegra2

DesireHD delayed in spain should i just get the sgs?
Hey,
I'm from the Netherlands, and bought my Galaxy S 2 weeks ago. I knew full well that the Desire HD was coming, but chose for the Galaxy S anyway...
I couldn't be happier with my choice, this is why:
-The Galaxy S screen is superior. No match, S-Amoled rocks.
-Xvid support is lovely.
-There already is a lot of documentation and a big user base for the Galaxy S (and stuff like Galaxy S specific apps), which gives you a community to fall back on.
-The Galaxy S has a pretty good battery (1500 mAh), in contrary to the DesireHD (1200 mAh).
-The Galaxy S is available NOW (there's always something on the horizon).
-Bluetooth 3.0
-The best processor in smartphone world.
-A LOT more memory; up to 48gb (16 internal and 32 microsd).
-It is light.
-There's a front facing camera for video calls and such.
In all honesty, the Desire HD has some pros too:
-The screen, although it sucks in comparison, is pretty big.
-The build quality seems to be pretty good.
-HTC support, probably until android 3.0.
-It has more RAM.
-8MP camera with flash.
-Maybe device design and HTC Sense, depends on taste. I like the Galaxy S and Touchwiz just fine, personally.
To me, the Galaxy S was better on paper and I am very satisfied with the experience it is giving me up to now.
It does need some tweaks, but the good news is all of those tweaks are available due to the huge user base (>1 mil!). It has lag, use a lagfix. It doesn't properly manage RAM, use AutoKiller Memory. Etc.
Fact is that, if the DesireHD runs into these issues, you won't have a fix ready right away simply because the user base will need to grow and the device hasn't been tested by over a million people for half a year. With the Galaxy S, you know what you will be getting, and you know it's awesome.
So, there you go; get the Galaxy S.
Greets,
MM
Really? Awesome havent noticed the front camera xD
Well the main pull the desireHd has over me is that htc phones are better supported (xda etc..) And kinda like the new sense(The site, cached map nav are really awesome )I dont like the battery, i dont care how much more optimised the proccesor is at 1200mAh with its huge screen its gonna die quickly.
4 inch screen is plenty of space.
everybody says the camera is awesome
Hey is the bootloder unlocked can we flash costom roms yet? Dont think i saw any...
Ok, this isn't about taking away from people who are having genuine problems.
I don't have the phone yet but very much want it
If you got this phone and think its good and was a good choice for your upgrade say hi.
Please don't bother otherwise, there's plenty of threads for that. Itd b nice to counter the balance a bit As the title says....

Zero problems .
GPS works and locks and sticks to route .
WiFi as good as SGS1
Battery no problems .
Screen no problems .
Sounds excellent though i can understand thats it not much good if you want to distort the sounds with extreme treble or base .

Hi, good phone, no real problems just slight weak wifi
Absolutely no problems here. Only gripe I have with phone at the moment is the game selection. But Live Holdem Poker works and thats the only one I play daily.

I don't know if the battery could be better but besides that this is an impressive phone. After you use this for a couple of days it is very hard to look back !!!
Pretty much everything is great for me. TW took a little time to get used to but it's been a solid experience
had this phone for a few weeks now and after my much loved hero, this is in a different league! if you dont have it, do sumthin to get it, you will not be dissappointed
Im loving my phone. Feels great in the hand. Doesnt feel too light! The screen is the finest screen ive seen on any smartphone. The blacks are just that. Ive not noticed any wifi strength issues at all. Call quality is very clear. Voice commands work impressively well. No reception issues.
I can also confirm that i am getting approximately 32 hours of normal everyday use out of one charge. Which i believe to be very impressive.
Luckily i can say ive not had a single issue that others have reported.
Best phone I've ever owned (came from G1 to Desire to this)
Thanks for the effort peeps interesting to see a couple of names from bug threads still rate the phone. Its a shame about how few came on tho, leads me to think that either
a) the phone sucks, don't believe that personally. Iv had a couple of sessions on it now in phones4u and cpw n love it.
b) people prefer to be negative than positive, this I can believe.
c) most have been happy enough with it to not bother coming to this forum
d) people don't want to comment knowing some **** will either bash them about being a noob or use the new favorite and call them a troll

I'll keep it short. I love this phone, its awesome. Its not perfect (a perfect phone will probably never exist) but I'm happier with this than I was with my SG1. I may even go as far to say that I'm more excited with this phone than I was when I got my first Nexus One. (the N1 was a huge upgrade for me, and my first real switch to android)
I don't have any serious problems, and haven't been disapointed in any way. My GF has a brand new HTC Inspire, and I would love to throw that away and get her one of these.
My setup is in my sig.

The only problem the others are complaining about is the screen color and camera but still its pretty decent
For me its Not something i could complain about because this phone is Just amazing... The battery, the performance, gaming... This can compete to other quadcore smartphones

Im not satisfied.
Front and backcamera are horrible.
The wifi range is damn low
The phone is gettin hot pretty fast
Multi-tasking doesnt work sometimes (sometimes I get fc, when I listen to music while browsin for an example)
Love mine. No problems, just a few minor bugs (wifi is weak, led bar no worky in stamina mode)
Mme so u like this phone but not 100%...i really don't care about camera... Mmm I have to think a bit before buy it
Thanks a lot people!
Wait for the update before you buy the phone.. the poor wifi and camera need a serious fix, if this doesn't happen I don't advice anyone to buy the phone.
I bought mine only a few days ago and I'm blown away by the bang for your money. It's a great mid range phone that feels high quality. Even on 4.1.2, the device feels really smooth and fluid to use. Plays games really well, Robocop, Real racing, injustice all play great.
Battery life is really good with stamina mode active. The sony UI is not floaty and quite a few of the bundles apps can be uninstalled without even rooting. Rooting is easy as pie, takes a few mins with 1 app.

the z1 mini will blow this out of the water, but don't forget that the z1 mini is a flagship almost and this is a midrange, if you can afford it go for the z1 mini other wise the sp is more than great. i got mine for free on a 2yr contract with a 100$ gift card. this phone competes with quad core flagships and in some ways out performs them like frame rate and battery. the only thing i don't like is the long wait till 4.3 and 4.4 other wise the camera is ok you just have to play with the settings. the light bar is EPIC people always stop and ask me what phone im using, its really cool. it never gets hot for me and never lags the biggest complaint is that it docent come with too many case option and accessories other wise this phone is superb id recommend it, feel free to pm if you have any questions
SIMPLY THE BEST MID RANGE PHONE RIGHT NOW. PERIOD.

It's a good phone. But the software need to be improved.
The memory management is very, very bad... If you are listen the music and open the Internet Browser probably the software will kill the music app.
The appdraw is frequently "redrawing".
You wont have a lot of Custom ROM (however there are good Custom ROM like eXistenZ).
Anyway it is a good phone.
If I were to buy a new phone today in the same range price I would of Moto G.
my sp c5303 doesn't have any of the wi-fi issues i keep reading here, maybe it's fixed on newer devices? i got mine in last november
I like it very much but the main problem which I face is the touch problem.
If that is solved then its great
