Try using a p[rogram to format the SD Card.
It will work then

Try Flash Format (www.cnetx.com), its a great program that deals with Storage Cards.
It can also verify your SD Card!
you can also restore your files from the damaged SD card using undelte software & a SD card reader

Can't format SD card

The Sandisk 256mb SD card in my xda II refuses to be formatted! I have used Cnetx Flash Format, StorageTools and PocketMechanic to format the card to get rid of unwanted data. All progs re-format the card, but when rechecking with File Explorer, all data is still there. I note that these files are marked in the Album app with a small lock image, as if they have been attributed read only. If so, how can I change the file attrib?
are you sure that the read/write lock on the card is not turned on ?
Definitely not.
can a sdcard reader format it ?
with pocket mechanics did you do a logic format or a fysical format ?
Definitely not.
Did a logical format with Pocket Mechanic
try a fysical format then it's more like a lowlevel format on a pc
Definitely not.

was this definitly not directed to the sdcard reader for the pc not being able to format the card ?
Have tried the low level and once again a logical format. Same result: folders and files still present. The "definitely not" was a repeat. Don't have a reader, but will try to borrow.
Have tried to format the SD card via a usb reader (which works! tested on a CF card). No luck: "Windows was unable to complete the format." I guess its kaput, and I have to resign myself to replacing it. Boy, this sure annoys me.
it happened to me once ... I formated my SD card on my qtek 1010 devices and it couldn't be formated on my i-mate
There is a silly trick but worked for me ... try using XDAtools to copy a ROM file to the SD card ... insert it into your device, usually it asks you to format the card ... this time press YES
HI Biso007
YES. 100% SURE IT WORKING!!!!
Tried XDAtools - got message that "the media is write-protected. Error opening target device. " Tried again only to be told "target device too small to hold an image." Now since the lock is off, this leaves me only one conclusion: its fried. I cannot understand how it could have gotten write-protected? I have never applied any security software to it.
Your SD card chip is damage!!!
hi.
If it doesn't work. It means that your sd card chip is damaged. Check if it is under warranty?
Put it in the toaster for 5 minutes, it wont fix it but it will pass the time.

XDA_II had just eaten my SD

great - apparently in the last 10 mins my SD card has become corrupted, losing half of my files.....
Doeas anyone know how I format the thing to get it sorted out??
Thanks
pocket mechanics or storagetools should be able to format the card
if not
and a sdcard reader also cant
then people say that using xdatools to put a nbf on the card and entering the bootloader of the device and choosing format from there is also a way to format cards which dont want to be format'd
ta very much - i used storage tools

SD problem!!

My Jam can't read my card!!
The information can be found, and the files/folders inside of the SD can be found..But it doesn't show up..I need to go to the finding thing and then it comes up as a list..Not a folder saying "SD"..
Anybody have a clue why it does that?
I've seen this problem before with a Ridata 1GB SD card. The data and structure on the card become corrupt. I've been able to fix this by backing up whatever is on the card (whatever is salvagable) and then doing a reformat of the card. If it won't let you reformat on the ppc, try doing it first on a regular pc with an SD card slot.

Hmm..Good idea, thanks.

you can use your pc to reformat a card [if you have a card reader]

Got it. Thanks.

Accessing the storage card

Help! I want to acces my storage card and I don't know how. When I am in the memory tab and then click on storage card it says: Total storage card memory" Not installed. What does that mean? Have I done something wrong? Any advice for a novice will be much appreciated.
Is it a new card (You haven't used it)? or have you ever previously used it? in any case if you have a card reader handy check it on your computer, or you can download pocket mechanic and run the format tool if the problem is the card not being formated properly. Piece of advice your better off doing it from a card reader on your pc cause your pretty limited to what you can do to fix the card on your device.
