SD Card insertion -> Wake up... - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hello,
When I insert a SD Card in my MDA Compact, the device wake up... Is it a way to change that (registry , ...)
Thanks in advance.
Largo

i think (not 100% sure) all pocket pcs react this way. when you insert or remove a card (memory, io, or combo) they wake up.

Not true. I owned multiple PPC's the last few years. Not all PPC's react the same way. My Tosh e800 has both, SD and compactflash, it only wakes up on compactflash, and it doesn't on SD. Perhaps there's a way, buy I doubt it. I think it's a hardware issue.

Heimiko is right. My XDA1 didn't wake up on inserting or removing a card from the SD slot, my MDA Compact does.

sorry for the hasty conclusion the last few pocket pcs i owned does this all the time (compaq ipaq h3870, hp ipaq h2210, and the imate JAM) maybe it is hardware dependent

Soft reset on insert/remove SD card?

Hi folks, my first post here so be gentle!
I received a new MDA Compact yesterday and have been playing with it today, loading on my favourite PPC apps (I'm hoping this will replace my trusty iPAQ h2210). However, I've had a few problems along the way.
Is it normal to see a soft reset if you insert or remove an SD card while the MDA is on? Somehow I think not but I can live with turning it off whenever I need to swap SD cards.
Can anyone tell me if this is normal behaviour for a Magician or specifically an MDA compact?
Please? :?
It's not with mine.
Mmmm, didn't think so. Will do some more experimentation with different cards and applications.
Thanks for the reply!
Mine also never soft reset when you insert or take out the SD card.
I no need to turn off the o2 mini first in order to take or insert the SD card. If o2 mini off, when I take out or insert the SD card, o2 mini turn on itself.
Regards,
Arto
I think because one of the application you use give the soft reset, I had also face the same problem with software which is not suitable with wm2003se.
Same as @artosoft said,
If the device is off while removing / inserting the card, it switches on by itself. But my device never rebooted .

Dead SDIO slot?

Hi.
I have tried to make two different WiFi SDIO cards work in my Qtek S100 now with no success despite following all advice on these forums and trying many different drivers etc.
My suspicion is that my S100 has a hardware fault and cannot read from the SDIO slot (although MMC cards work fine).
Does anyone know whether there is a way of checking this hypothesis?
Cheers,
Tom
Solved it!
The extra pin that SDIO uses had got pushed down. Use of cocktail stick to bend it back again solved the problem...
The answer to "is there an SDIO test" is yes - insert the card when the device is on standby. If the screen lights up, it's seeing the card.
Tom
Hmm... I sort of have the same problem. I got my new Wifi card today (PocketGear, or Spected mini card) and used it for 10 minutes. I took it out to replace my SD card, the screen lit up but nothing is recognising. Storage card doesn't appear and phone things nothing's connected when the Wifi card is in. Not good!
I'll check the pins when I get home, but since the screen is lighting up I'm not sure about that,
Any ideas, people?
Ok, well it seems it's fixed. 3 hard resets in 10 minutes fixed the issue! Good ole Microsoft, making nice and sturdy operating systems!

just bought my universal :) some questions !

hi, i bought my universal off ebay "brand new" for 258 GBP including postage which i reckon is a good price.
i have been using wizard so far and today i changed it for universal..the pocket pc is a real beauty..i really like it. i noticed two things which worriy me. the 1st one is : when i try to turn off the device it goes only to sleep mode but donst switch off. in wizard when i pressed turn off button it basicly turned off the device. is it normal in universal to make it sleep ? how can i really turn off my device. and the other thing is my universal dosnt detect SD card. i have got two of them one which came with my universal and the other one is the one i was using with my wizard. how can i make my universal detect them ??? (512mb and 2GB)
cheers, cudo
hey ! yeah ihave been researching a bit and i can tell with great confidence that universal dosent shut down, many pocketpc's dont. Some like your wizard are an exception. even i have a universal.
Regarding not detecting SD Card it seems odd, is it not appearing in explorer at all ? cause i've never had that problem
yes excatly it just dosnt appear in explorer.I will try to format it latter on and so how it is. is it normal I haven't got msn on my mda pro?
Hmm. this might sound like a dumb question but r u sure u're inserting it the right way ?? lol..
hehe yeah i think so and what about the MSN ...have u had it pre-installed on you universal ?
I'd be a little bit worried about it not detecting any SD cards and test it ASAP as I've not had any problems using several different ones - here's hoping it is not a hardware fault...
As far as MSN is concerned, it depends on the ROM you are using - they have different things installed and I've noticed one or two didn't include it.
Either way, using the instructions and vast wealth of knowledge on this forum, you should be able to find one that you like
all sorted at least for the moment...i am using mini sd card with adapter and after i locked it and instrted the card once again my universal detected it
can u tell me how to "activate" real VGA ? or give a thread on that ?
cheers, cudo
after a while the car is not detected again i have to take it out and put it back. thiss happens when usinng mini sd with adapter after inserting sd card everything seems to be ok....for now;
try this for true VGA and many other hacks:

Corrupted data on mini SD card

I'm having problems with my SD 2gb card from SanDisk (made in China) , the data is corrupted . Just bought a Kingston 2gb, made in Taiwan, slightly thicker than de SanDisk (just the feeling I think) and hope that the problem stays away. Are there more people that have the same problem with de HTC P3600 (HTC Trinity, SPV M700) in combination with a sd mini card? I've send a mail to de customer service yesterday and received an automatic reply. Now it is waiting for an answer. I have the hope it is just a small parameter in the setting of the PDA. When I let the PDA go to standby itself after 2 minutes it seems to be OK for now at least. Please give me some reactions from P3600 owners! Look at this link for the same problems on the Artemis: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285511
problem with mini SD
Hy
it seems that P3600 have several problem with mini SD.
first of this expencive pocket diamond does not like all kind fo mini SD..moreover i used a kingston 2GB and it was working well since 3 days ago...then BLACK OUT.
The pocket pc soes not see the mini sd anymore!!
Why? I really do not know, but i'm not the only one who is experienced in this beautiful situation!
HTC says that the problems with the artemis and the sd-card are depending on a software bug together with WM5, and they are working on it. I think, it is the same bug with the trinity
I have a microSD with miniSD Adapter, and is corrupted, and the size of corrupted data is increasing day after day ....
After few days I need format this f***ing card ..... I hope HTC fix this bug soon !!!!!!
Alex13
it happened to me couple of times with a trascend mini sd 2gb.
it really really sucks.
coming from a Mac only world sometime I feel throwing the trinity down a bridge is the best thing to do... I'm not used to crashes and corruption.
But hey, it's the only way to actually use skype when I'm around...
anyway, last week I've installed Trinity Hacks 0.2 a free app that modify the registry, one of the functions is to fix SD compatibility.
I didn't have problems since
This is what HTC told me:
Thanks for your email regarding your P3600. The SanDisk Ultra II 2gb mini SD card is not compatible with the device. Instead of an Ultra card you need a standard mini SD card with no more than 2GB.
I bought a Kingston 2GB and it's running a few days without any problem, keeped my fingers crossed while typing this!
I think I have the fix, instead of re-formatting the card connect the trinity (or data card) to your PC, make sure you can see hidden files and folders, search for a folder/directory starting "MSM". Delete this folder and all the files that have become an issue become unlocked.
Sorry if some one else has posted this fix, just saved myslef hours re-installing TomTom by doing this.
Hope this helps

restoring unformatted SDHC card

Hi,
I was playing around with Trinity hack the other day and got to change the "increase filesystem cache". After changing this, my sdhc card started corrupting. Today I wanted to format it and installed pocket mechanics, started a formatting low + slow and waited. Suddently the phone rang and pocket mech. froze. I had to reset in order for the phone to get back in business.
Now I am sitting with an unformatted card and I cant seem to "find" it with pocket mech or the normal memory overview in wm5.
Does anyone know if I can get this card formatted or if it is completely bricked.
I tried to insert it in the cardreader in my laptop. It froze winXP for some sec and then I could see it for a short while in the system hardware list (controlpanel -> system -> hardware). Then it dissapeared and I have no idea how to find it.
so what do I do?

SDHC cards are very new and most card readers won't "see" them. You can get a reader/writer from Sandisk at your local retailer that will read SDHC cards and will format them too. http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Item(1151)-SDDR-99-SanDisk_ImageMate_5In1_ReaderWriter.aspx
Alternately, there are many new digital cameras that support SDHC cards, you can take your card to the local camera retailer and format your card in a SDHC compatible camera.
Just out of interest, was your SDHC card working fine before, and what size is it?
WM5 storage app should work have you tried that yet?
