Yes it is possbile. You need to connect via bluetooth activesync. It might depend on what bluetooth your laptop uses. Mine is Belkin and that works great.

any special setup
Hi i am connected via bluetooth activesync but still can't access the ADSL Internet that my PC is using. do i need to make any changes any where.
thanks
can u be kind enough to let me know the procedures for using bluetooth and activesync...i have tried but failed.
thanx
it took me a whole day work to get it work and at the end i discover 2 things.
1. We have to read manuals carefull and follow instalation instructions for bluetooth software and driver .
2. to activate activeSync simply go to you XDA II and select ActiveSync from start --> activeSync and then go to tools and select connect via Bluetooth.
thats it, now how can i make it access internet using ActiveSync , i have no IDEA
check if there is a V before PASS-TROUGH ( in activesync )
Hi what do you mean by a V before PASS-TROUGH!! , i have selected in RULES to use internet and i checked "open active synch when my mobile connect"

here is a guide how to use the xda1 as a wireless modem for a pc
but is there no way to use it for wireless lan???
I did this with an old XDA1 and IBM Thinkpad. It worked (just about!) on an IR link, but was incredibly slow. The IR connection was a bit flakey to say the least. I was reluctant to fork out on a serial cable for something I would use very occasionally. I now have XDA2 and new laptop which does not have serial connector-its got SIX usb,s though!
I was running through the set-up on the O2 pdf walk thru (can anyone memorise that rigmarole!) I notice that there is an option for Infra-red, serial, OR USB. The O2 notes don't mention any way of setting up the USB option. Does anyone out there have a clue how to do this?
By the way I dropped 12volt adapter on the XDA1, screen is dead, but the unit worked to allow me to transfer stuff back to my PC. Anybody need it for parts?
XDA II Modem Set Up Via USB
I think you will find it on the last 2 pages of the modem guide that's posted on the O2 web site It involves disabling USB active synch and then running the "add new hardware wizard" on the PC. It then asks you to install the HTC USB modem driver from the XDA II set up disk.
I got that far, but my old version of the XDA set up disk, does not seem to have the right modem driver on it. Does anyone have the HTC USB Modem driver on their set up disk I could share?

Ok, with a bit more searching through the posts I found this really excellent link.

It even has the missing file I was looking for! I am now up and running! Yeah!!!

Connecting laptop to net via XDAIIi using bluetooth

Hi guys,
Okay, I want to be able to connect my laptop to the Internet by pairing my XDAIIi and the laptop together via Bluetooth.
I have managed to get my laptop to identify the XDAIIi as a modem, and I can get it to dial normal dialup numbers through the IDAIIi... However, I want the laptop to connect using the phones GPRS, NOT a dialup number.
Any idea's how this can be done?
Cheers,
R
Come on! Surely this must be possible

just take a look around or use search most of these things have been up already
Hi Rudegar,
Thank you for your reply. However, I have extensively searched the forums already before posting, and could not find anyone trying to do it this particular way.
The link you gave is an example of that. They are connecting the XDAII using a USB cable to the PC. I'd like to do the same thing, except connect using bluetooth.
So if anyone can help !!
here are a few from the networking forum

PC/Laptop to xda 2 viewing

Hi,
could an expert out there advise me if my theory is possible please?
Using Remote desktop/Terminal services : See whats on my PC/Laptop on the screen of my XDA2 - connected via cradle and usb(as usual). If so what do I put in the "Server" box of the XDA Terminal services prog and on the "Main" PC.. Do I have to make a Network first? Or ?
Thanks to all.
The site is great but much of it goes straight over my head at the moment..
P
ummm ... your theory seems not that much difficult as you can implement it using Bluetooth networking I guess ..
you can setup bluetooth networking from Pocket PC to Laptop then you can browse what your home PC conatin from your PDA
give it a try
I hope this is what U was talking about , if not please give us more clarifications
Cheers
It is better and faster to use Wifi if you're going to use terminal services.
Been using this method since last year.
Thanks but I do not have wifi or bluetooth...
There is a ref to doing it on MS site via the cradle and usb but then it shoots off in the over the web stuff...
I have tried just now but nothing connects.... But I notice that when I check my desktop (xp) pc under the rempte tab - I only have Remote Assistance.... Could this be it? Perhaps I do not have Remote Desktop installed then ! Eh? I will try to locate my original xp discs and see if I can install !!??
Ta.
Remote desktop or Terminal services connect only via IP address.
So you can only connect via TCP/IP using WIFI on your XDA.
Bluetooth 1.1 has no IP address setting so it is not possible also.
I tried all methods since last year and WIFI is the only solution or if your XDA has a backpack you can use a CF type NIC for wired connection via crosslink or hub.
Still Wifi is the cheapest and cleanest alternative. You can use Adhoc settings between your PC if you have no WIFI access point.
