Transferring Data to an XDAII Mini from an XDAII - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hi
I have just landed my hands on a XDAII Mini and want to transfer all the data from from my XDAII.
I tried backing up from the backup on my SD card I made on the XDAII but the XDAII Mini then ground to a halt and I had to perform a hard reset.
Is there a better application than xBackup that allow me to backup all my information but non of the system information?
Alternatively is it possible to get outlook to work with both the XDAII and the XDAII Mini without creating a new profile?
thanks

Soft reset on insert/remove SD card?

Hi folks, my first post here so be gentle!
I received a new MDA Compact yesterday and have been playing with it today, loading on my favourite PPC apps (I'm hoping this will replace my trusty iPAQ h2210). However, I've had a few problems along the way.
Is it normal to see a soft reset if you insert or remove an SD card while the MDA is on? Somehow I think not but I can live with turning it off whenever I need to swap SD cards.
Can anyone tell me if this is normal behaviour for a Magician or specifically an MDA compact?
Please? :?
It's not with mine.
Mmmm, didn't think so. Will do some more experimentation with different cards and applications.
Thanks for the reply!
Mine also never soft reset when you insert or take out the SD card.
I no need to turn off the o2 mini first in order to take or insert the SD card. If o2 mini off, when I take out or insert the SD card, o2 mini turn on itself.

Arto
I think because one of the application you use give the soft reset, I had also face the same problem with software which is not suitable with wm2003se.
Same as @artosoft said,
If the device is off while removing / inserting the card, it switches on by itself. But my device never rebooted .

Can i use my Wizard as a memory stick?

Is there any way to use my phone as a "memory stick" without having to install sw drivers on a foreign PC.
I just want to plug-in the Wizard (with usb), have the PC to recognize extra RAM (mini SD) and be able to download files - just like a standard memory stick without installing drivers or active sync.
regards
Ulrik
Yes Tou can.
Install Card Export Pro.
Just keep in mind to switch from active sync to Card Export Pro if your device is not connected to your pc.
Any freeware out there, too??
Greetings,
Andreas
I don't have my Wizard yet (hopefully tomorrow). However, with my XDA 1, I just popped the SD card out & put it into a USB memory card reader like this one - http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-2-0-MS-Pro-...590924641QQcategoryZ50526QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Works great, and less than $10.00 U.S.
Hope that helps,
Shadowpheonix
Where do I get Card Export Pro? I can't find it on any English websites :S
Try this http://www.softick.com/pocket-pc/cardexport2/
I could get it to switch to 'usb mass storage device' only after soft reseting my wizard, then it would refuse to switch modes and i would have to reboot again.
Maybe one to keep an eye on as they seem to be working hard to get it to function correctly with the wizard. I will keep testing and keep you posted. As this s/w adds a great feature.
Has anyone got it working properly?
John
I downloaded the software and it works fine on my QTEK9100 - i'm still in the 21 days trial period. I'll do some more testing with loadind/unloading files. So far the turning on/off card works fine. I did a software reset as stated....

copying to miniSD is too slow?

hi everyone, i have T-mobile MDA USA, and i have noticed that everytime i try to copy large files (50Mb and up) from my PC to my SD in my phone through active sync cable it is taking forever...it is really pissing me off, when i use my card reader to transfer files it is a lot faster...does any one know what could be the problem? i thought the MDA has USB 2.0 isn't it supposed to be fast!!??
please help.
thanks
It's simply a bug with these phones which badly manage ActivSync ... The only solution is to use an external card reader as you do

Backing Up Contacts

Greeting Wizard family! Im trying to back up my contacts from my phone to my computer but the part on the phone where you plug the phone into the computer is broken. i tried the PIM backup but its not letting me save the contacts to the sim. Any suggestions?
If your laptop has bluetooth it can use that for Activesync, too. However, it has to have been connected via USB at least once before to work.
Aside from that, look into pimbackup, and back up on a mini SD card. Cards and card readers are too cheap not to use them for this kind of thing. Just remember to stay at or under 2GB. Anything larger usually does not work.
thanks for the info!

[Q] Sharing data on microSD via bluetooth

Hello,
I have MDA (HTC Kaiser with WM 6.0), which I can connect via bluetooth to other cellular phone (LG without OS). Can I use the microSD card of the LG phone in the same way as it was stuck in my MDA?
At the moment I can connect those two devices, I can even create a folder under virtual bluetooth link and in this folder I can see shared data from the microSD card of my LG phone as it was a folder on my MDA.
Anyway via this connection I can only upload/download files. I can not use the files as it was stored in my MDA, for example I can not directly play MP3, use maps for navigating etc.
Thanks for your advise
Dusty
