Have you tried reinserting memory card and or soft reset?

ei dude this happened to me too and the only thing i can do for remedy is to install another file explorer like resco to do the job.. sometimes though a few hard resets can cure the problem.. not usually in the first try..

Remove files from Startup folder

Hi!
Anyone could help me out!?
I place a file "powerstatus" into the startup folder.. What I can do to remove the file inorder to prevent it from starting up. I can't delete while its running and I there is no option for me to close it when its on. ... . Only way is delete it from startup folder.. . but how to i close the file??
Pls help ..
Rename the link in startup, softreset, then delete the link in startup, delete the file as well if you dont need it.
and if you put an exe file in startup (not sure if you can do that but)
then you just remove it from program.exe to program.exe.uncle
then softreset it
unless you use the extention uncle for something else it should just fail to start and then you can delete it
I have tired to rename it, but no use. tried to cut it out, no use, tried to overwrite with a blank startup folder, no use too..
Yes, its an exe file, anyway to close program that is not reflected on "running program" ?
The "Powerstatus" is running, but I cant find a way to close it, I have tired the program which make the PDA go into safe mode, but can't work
I am using WM2005.
Any expert with any solutions?
Thanks very much in advance. .. .
Move the Startup folder to somewhere else My Documents for example and reset.
Afterwhich you can delete the file and replace the Startup folder back in Windows directory.
tried that before.. The startup folder with the "powerstatus" will still be there even thou i cut the whole thing out. Plus, cos the file is running, i cannot delete, move, overwrite it. . . so i think need a way to close it...
Anyone know how to close programs that is running in the background where it will not show on the "Running Program"?
Happens to me but use the resco file explorer to rename the files, softreset ( prompts you ''theres no application associated with ''powerstatus.exe''....), tap start(repeat until the menu drops) then open again the resco file explorer, goto windows/startup and delete the file.
EASY....
yeah it could be a fileexplore thing ms's filemanagers like to protect people from extentions which is why many people use reso or totalcommander
Kill the process in memory
Can't you just kill the process in memory?
Read our tutorial about killing the Brador trojan:

If you're still stuck, please email me at contact (at) airscanner.com and I'll guide you through it.
I'm interested!
What about renaming the startup folder to something else and soft reset?
Safemode
Download and install "Safemode"
Soft reset your device
Just after the device restarts, tap on the upper part of the screen: your device starts in "safemode"
Delete whatever you want from the startup folder
Soft reset, and let the device start normally (without tapping on the upper part of the screen)

reinstall cprog.exe in smartphone

I read somebody suggested to replace the 'cprog.exe' with other file (which rename to cprog.exe). I managed to replace the original program of cprog.exe. Now my question is how to recover the original 'cprog.exe' back. I tried to copy cprog.exe from other phone but found the application(cprog.exe) actually cannot copy, rename or move. Now my phone cannot answer incomming call. Could somebody help me
Thanks in advance
A simple hard reset should do it
Cheers,
raul
Hi Rain,
Thanks to you it save my day of my dopod 577W
I just go to the START->ACESSORIES->CLEAR STORAGE
and voila! everything was cleared and comebact to original...
Thanks a lot to you because giving me the key words HARD RESET
Sorry I didn't see your post before. I would have saved you the hassle of HR.
cprog.exe is a ROM file so you can't copy it out.
But you can overwrite it whith another file that will be stored in regular storage memory. That is what you did, so the original file was never deleted, just hidden by a file whith the same name.
In the future, if you have similar problem, just rename the file, then soft reset. The original file will reappeare and you will be able to delete the replacement.

Windows Explorer loops in \Windows

Hi. The standard File Explorer program on my unit has suddenly begun "spinning" continuously in the \Windows directory. If I kill the registry entry that holds the current dirctory, it works normally until I enter \Windows again. \Windows is accessible normally through Total Commander or ActiveSync.
Apparently something in the directory is upsetting Explorer. Any ideas on a way to fix this (I don't want to hard reset just to fix this)?
Additional info -- it appears that after quite a few minutes Explorer may finish with \Windows and display a result for an instant, but immediately exits.
Thanks.

Must be a bug with File Explorer. Could you dump a full directory list of your \Windows or try to remove your programs one-by-one, checking back every time after an uninstall to see whether the bug is still present? That'd be great for the entire PPC community (that is, finding the offending program)
This is the approach I've been taking. It's a bit tedious since whenever File Explorer gets into spinning mode in \Windows I have to soft boot to get out.
I've removed the last several programs that were installed. One of them itself caused the "infinite" spinning during the deinstallation process -- others deinstalled OK.
I've also removed some of the more recently created files in \Windows that I knew were safe to delete.
So far no change to File Explorer's behavior. It works fine except in \Windows. Total Commander still has no problems at all in \Windows, etc.
I could post the directory listing for \Windows, but it's rather long.
Just go on deinstalling - and it t doesn't work, try reinstalling everything after a hard reset
Just checked this on my Wizard (AKU3.2 bepe/KTamas ROM): FE works OK in \Windows

msgbox.wav remove or change?

I have a sound called msgbox.wav that is very annoying. I use a onebridgeclient for checking my work email and everytime this connects I get this msgbox clunky sound. I found the file but I cannot remove it or change it to something else because it is writeprotected. Is there anything I can do?. I cannot change the sound in normal settings. I have shut every sound down and still it goes of when connecting to my inbox.
Try using TotalCommander, freeware file manager. It can replace most protected files (copy over it)
If in any cases that it is not able to, the program may be using it. Try disabling the problem by either some TaskManager, or remove them from the start list, and try again. Then re-enable the program.
I hate programs that tried to be funny with so call 'real-sound' effects.
I just tried to delete it using resco file explorer, didn't work. Gives me a message that the file is in ROM memory and can't be deleted, is there really nothing I can do?

You can't delete the file, you have to overwrite it as hanmin says above, just create a wav file with no sound, make sure you name it msgbox.wav and paste it in your windows directory, a warning will come up asking if you want to write over it, just click ok and bobs your uncle, sorted!

HELP,HELP,HELP:Pro2 folder disappeared after rename the folder(add a dot)

The most weird thing i ever encountered today with my HTC Pro2.
I renamed the folder "Beauties" to "Beauties." with Resco File explorer 2008 (note there is a dot after Beauties).
The Original path is" Storage card/Pictures/Personal pictures/secret/Beauties".
After existing Resco Explorer,I went back to see the folder again, jesus christ, the folder has gone! just disappeared without a trace.
I tried all means, soft reset,Resco Explorer, show all the files and folders, Resco photo viewer, connected with PC etc etc,all of them cannot find this "Beauties." folder.
Inside this Beauties folder, there are many pictures that I collected over years,no no I dont want to lose them.
Is this bug?
Am I being cursed? (lots of porn pictures in this folder as well)
How to get my folder back??? please help, help, help!!!!!!!!!
If there is a way to get the folder back, maybe we will have a best way to enscrypt folders?
Why don't you sync with your computer and use the MS ActiveSync to explore your phone? It is much easier on the eyes to look for a file on your computer screen than on your phone.

thanks for suggestion,As I said,I tried all means, including your suggestion. Got nothing.
no idea what could have happened.
folders with a period show up fine on my tp2, both in explorer and commander, never used resco though.
ne how, before you do anything else, do the following
remove the sd card,
plug it into a pc,
run a data recovery program on it.
tried everything,no cure for it.
My conclusion is that after you add period(dot) at the end of the name of the folder, this folder is deleted forever.
A bloody lesson.
Bye bye pictures,bye bye ladies.
Hmm . Files may be gone..
but I'd try another file explorer app if I was you
Total Commander --> http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm
You sure you renamed it xxxxx. and it took? Perhaps you did a typo (accidentally touch the touchscreen thereafter and it's called something else your not expecting?)
this just happened to me today using resco file explorer!!! dot on the end of a folder bam!!! all folder is gone!
bring it back
if you ever do this again press ctrl+z to get back the folder, it happened with me so being a photoshop freak instantly went for the keys and thankfully got the folder back with the old name, still cant understand what's happens when you put a dot (.) at the end of a folder name.
Ps. this will only work for a few mins after the rename before any other changes are made after which it is useless
