Hi,
Does anyone know some software that can make
the XDAII function as a remote screen for the PC ?
It would be great to use the XDAIIs touch screen
to control the PC - maybe via bluetooth ?
Cheers,
Johannes
Johannes,
Try using VNC .....
You'll need to install a server on you PC (TightVNC, RealVNC or [email protected])
Then use the Pocket PPC Viewer on the XDA
Regards
John
well you can use windows therminal services
or pocketVNC to get the screen from the pc to the pda
but it will clone not extend your desktop
and at least with therminal services (which is included in both the pocketpc and in windows) it logoff the pc user when the pocketpc connects
and at least with therminal services you need the vidcomm bluetooth stack to get the PAN profile
because if you use activesync to connect and then login from the pocketpc the desktop user gets log'd off and this disable activesync which breaks the connection to the pda
anyone know of a free PCAnywhere software for PPC (tmobile usa MDA)
I don't think there's been a PCA for PPC in years. As far as I know, your choices are VNC or the terminal client that comes with the phone.
can i use the vnc to connect to my desktop outlook? if yes can you please tell me how to do that?

Try: z2 Remote2PC - very good for wlan and internet remote your pc
or LogMeIn (www.logmein.com) for remote your pc only via internet.
The second one is free.
Why not just use the Remote Desktop that is standard on your PPC and on your WindowsXP PC?
I know it "isn't all that"...but hey, it does what it has to do, nothing more, nothing less

Dumb question : where is that on the PPC and the PC ?
Cheers

On your PPC: Go to programs, click on Terminal Services Client (at least that is the name of the program on my Dutch Qtek Rom).
On your PC (to enable Remote Desktop): Click on the Windows Key and the Pause/Break button at the same time. In the upcoming screen select the upper-right tab, enable Remote Desktop.
Note:
If you want to connect not only through your LAN (home network), but also from anywhere in the world, make sure you open port number 3306 in your firewall/router.
Note2:
You can only connect via IP Adress, not via hostname or pointed domain name.
Good luck.
The default port for remote terminal is 3389, not 3309.

PC Anywhere 11.5 for the PPC came out a couple of years ago. It's still a current version buy PCA 12 which should be out soon is better (free Beta version expired this month).
I'll be, ya learn something new every day. Last PCA I saw was that nasty "test" version for Windows CE 2.0 a *long* time ago. I was never a big PCA fan anyway but i didn't see mention of it on symantec's site.

FYI - remote desktop is only available if you have XP Pro, not XP Home. If you have XP Home you're out of luck in this regard.
try gotomypc.com
Just use VNC for PockePC
Here's some links.
A pockepc vnc client: http://www.cs.utah.edu/~midgley/wince/vnc.html
Another vnc viewer client: http://dotnetvnc.sourceforge.net/
A pockepc vnc server: http://www.pocketvnc.com/pocketVNC.aspx
anyone tried to grab new rdp client from crossbow and run it on WM5 ?
What is "rdp client"?
What else in crossbow is worth to try to import into WM5?
I think we are talking about the Remote Desktop / Terminal Services client
I use it on WM6 works great. I don't see the point of running it on WM5 when I can just run WM6.
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if there any alternatives to the Sync Centre and/or WM5 ?
I've recently "upgraded" to Vista (HP) and just don't like the sync relationship/set up..
It would be interesting to hear if anyone has arranged something different on thier Vista machine?
Thanks in advance
Well,
you can use the SOTI Pocket Controller Professional and make basic such as file synchronization either via WLAN or BLUETOOTH.

Not the answer, but I use www.logmein.com (free) to access and control a number of PCs via wireless/internet from my m700
