Hi my first post here...
A friend of mine bought me a relatively cheap XDA 1 which previously was a T Mobile XDA 1 from US.
The phone itself already updated to WM2003 but it cannot support my country's GSM1800 network.
FYI the phone was unlocked to support other country's telco already.
But seems like only GSM900/1900 are supported now.
Is there any solution?
Pls help...
There is no solution, the hardware supports 900/1900 on your phone and cannot support 1800 band.

Hi i've been a long time lurker in these forums and I've learnt many things from here and just thought i should join and say hello
But i was also wondering if anybody knew when will these XDA's be released and will the comunity here dedicate themselves to taking the rom's from these version onto the XDA II
Release Date
From the article at tekguru's site it says November 1st for the IIi and first quarter of 2005 for the IIs. I may have the two models mixed up though. The difference between them as near as I can tell is a megapixel enhancement on the camera and an extra 140 mhz on the processor.
As for the ROMS, expect a LOT of activity the moment they are released.
To that end, since I notice you are in Europe, I am looking for anybody that has pre-order information for these models.
Cheers for the info i was curious if the rom will work on the older xda II as it seems a be pointless to upgrade fpr those minor improvement
I really don't know if the ROM will work on the older XDA II's. I would hope for the rest of you that they do. The difference between the XDA II and the XDA III,IIi and IIs is not enough to switch when the price tag is most likely 1000$ US.
As for the improvements not being worth the upgrade in the US, that statement does not hold true at all. The XDA II's and III's are fairly worthless in the US since they do not support the 850mhz signal. AT&T and Cingular are lying bastards when they say they are still developing the 1900Mhz signal. They are not, and they are in fact converting most of the 1900Mhz towers to 850Mhz.
Bottom line is that your only hope of getting a working cellphone in the US now is on the 850Mhz GSM band or CDMA through Verizon. TMobile sucks #*#$& along with Sprint PCS which really only leaves Cingular/AT&T which will become one provider soon anyways.
I know there are some TMobile users out there that will rush to defend, but I am only talking from my own experience where I live with their 1900Mhz GSM network.
The XDA IIs and IIi are the answers to my prayers. Not only are they XDA and totally kick #$#, but they will actually work with my provider.
Some people swear the XDA III's will actually be Quad-band and not Tri-band. All I have heard are rumors though, not detailed specs. Everybody who has tried to correct me has published the links to the XDA IIi and IIs, but those are only BASED on the XDA III model. The TMobile MDA III specs and QTEK 9090 specs (Blue Angel) indicate Tri-Band still.
T-Mobile MDA III is quadband
I know initially everywhere I read, the MDA III was just a tri-band phone. After looking into it more, the specs are clear (german only).

Tri-Band Vs. Quad-Band on the XDA III's
It has been confusing for awhile since the only quad-band specs I have ever seen were for the XDA IIs and IIi that said they were based on the XDA III (Blue Angel). The specs for the Blue Angel taking from the QTEK 9090 said they were Tri-Band.
Well thanks to Drj we have another review site that is saying it is Quad-Band.

Thanks to Drj for posting it.
i understand that there is a quad version coming out for the 850 frequencies of the world, not all carriers will have it as they do not need it and it costs more. i understand HTC is in negitiations with an undisclosed provider for the N.A. market.
Hello, I purchased the XDA mini from India (triband 900/1800/1900) and in the USA it does not work properly with my service provider Cingular since Cingular uses 850/1800. Is there anything I can do such that my XDA Mini can support 850 or make this phone a quad band?
Please heeeeelllppp
I am sure this particular topic might have been discussed all the time, but I tried doing searchs but was not able to find anything close to what I was looking for.
Check this post hope it helps

Hello,
Thank you upfront to anyone who can answer my questions. Bleeding edge is vague and a lot of hearsay at times; it's nice to have simple, straight-forward, and accurate answers on this site.
I have T-Mobile in the USA; I'd prefer not to change. I see reports the Streak will only work with 3G from ATT and be limited to EDGE on T-Mobile. Is this true? Ack!
If so, I have some questions I wonder if people know the answer to:
1.) Likelihood 3G support will be added (via radio firmware or something) for T-Mobile? Will they have a different model I'll have to buy?
2.) I see screen shots of some power users on this forum running T-Mobile 3G. Is this because it is the UK version on the UK network?
3.) If I get the UK version, will it work on T-Mobile's 3G here in the USA? Any danger in using the UK model in the USA?
Cheers!
Kyle
Yes it is t mobile UK and the specs have not been fully released yet for the US so its only speculation as what is on it and only some one from the US can answer the US questions about if it will work on t mobile US as i am from across the pond, but what i will say is the t mobile UK ones are either working with an unlocked streak or a rebel Sim so don't know if that will help you
Some of the posts I have seen for TMOUS running Rebel sim, is NO it does not work yet. I am sure it will work soon.
According to a couple of people here the DHD can work for tmo ON 3G in the states if you unlock the sim apparently how much of this is true?
Dhd works on gsm. Any septic supplier on gsm will provide service. Just like any other gsm phone. I sent ny dhd to canada and it worked great with Rogers and telus.

Did 3g work? Or edge?
It never ceases to amaze me how many people ask this question when the information is so easily obtained. In the spirit of you asking a question which has been addressed countless times on XDA forums in general, I will not provide you with an answer but the tools to find them.
Go here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS_frequency_bands
...and match with what you find here:
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2598&c=htc_desire_hd_a9191_htc_ace
Hint: btw "UMTS" means 3g freq.
Ya. It worked in Mexico, L.A., and Vancouver. I didn't use it much ad T-Mobile U.K. charges £7.50 per mb downloaded when you're roaming. I used a Mexican sim and a Canadian sim and it all worked. Gsm is normal in Europe. Cmda only seems to be in the states from what I've seen. Sorry sprint hero and evo users, I'de never heard of a phone without a sim abd that's coming from a Canadian across the Atlantic living in London.

Hello,
I have a Dell streak from the UK, and I am in Canada, so I think I have the wrong baseband hence I cannot get 3G service on the streak, only Edge.
I've tried following the steps to put Manii's 351 baseband on the phone, and then reinstall DJ_steve's 1.9 but it still came back with GAUSB1A135100-EU.
I've been trying to find how to somehow switch to an GAUSBxxxxxx-US baseband but have had no luck.
I've only had the phone for a while, and I have it rooted and no issues with fastboot, etc... but am still new at this, so if someone could help that would be great.
Cheers!
Phone info:
Android: 2.2.2
Baseband: GAUSB1A135100-EU
Kernel: 2.6.32.9-DJ_Steve-BFS....
Build: StreakDroid 1.9.0
If its a UK Streak then the radio frequencies are different from the US/Canada ones so you will not be able to get 3G regardless of the baseband. I've got the UK unlocked Streak and can not get 3G on ATT or T-Mobile.
Thanks. I hope that is not the case a both the uk and canada sites show the same bands in their tech specs on the dell page. Unless dell has recently added band support to their uk model. My provider uses the 850 band...I thought out is perhaps not enabled on the modem somehow if the uk provider did not use it...
I don't want to give up quite yet since I got this phone for quick data on the road...and edge is not quick...
But im not sure what else I can try.

The only way is sell and buy.
Aren't all streaks essentially the same though? I have the uk one and 3G works fine in the uk.
No, the aws, euro, streak has different radio frequencies than the US streak.

Can't you just add your carrier settings in the apn? I'm in Canada but I got Rogers streak 5 killer phone! Runs dungeon defender like **** tho with qualcom score of 2200 benchmark

But that shouldn't matter anymore. It's not like things are built with quartz crystals to determine their operating frequencies anymore. The frequencies are synthesized using a PLL. That's programmable. The software sets what frequencies the radio supports.
Weither or not they're reprogrammable is moot since noone's able to do that.
Fact of the matter is the 3 submodels work on diff frequencies
US: 850/1900/2100
AWS: 900/1700/2100
EU: 900/2100
Tmobile usa uses 1700
at&t uses 850/1900
reprogramming them to accept diff bands is something that hasnt been attempted to any serious level and the antennas might be different in the submodels, noone's taken all 3 apart to compare the antennas
US model runs 850/1900/2100 in 3G.

3G of AT&T on my DS (Asia)
agreed to you but my DS from AT&T kept original firmware 1.6 and used 3G in Viet Nam seem ok for me, I am confusing with many version and have to follow original of DS at the end, happy with it until now and always think : what is the best for us ?
no more idea ? come on
