Okay I was told if you leave your phone in the craddle charger when its 100% it will break it, and if you use it when its in the craddle it will break it, is this true? Because what I usually do is if my phone is dead or fully charged, I just let it rest there and charge up for the next time I go out. =/
no it's not true only old type nicam batt's are like that
li-IOn and newer nicam batts should have no problems
the xda series use li-ion
http://www.batteryuniversity.com/partone-5.htm
http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm
so from what i read i can leave my xda ii in the craddle for as long as i want? =/

how long does it take to charge an XDA II, lets say the battery is completely dead, or on the other hand lets say its 50% left, because usually with my "phone" not a PDA, (that I used to use), I would use it for a bit then just come home and plug it in if it was full or not. Should I do the same thing with my XDA II, or does it only get so many charges out of it?
You should plug in the charger, however I have been told it isnt a good idea to actually use the pda when it is fully charged and connected to the charger, something about heat being produced which is detrimental to battery life, dont worry about overcharging or memory effect because those are a thing of the past with modern batteries.
How about this....

R u saying that it is not a good idea to sync (using cradle) with pc when the battery full? Cause, when you put the hadnset on the cradle, it automatically sync and also charge your battery, rite?
I regularly charge my unit through the sync cradle using the USB power source. Best thing is not to overcharge it as the battery heats up and may not be good for the battery.
so i cant do what i do with my normal cell phone with my xda ii? i usually go home and weither its full or not put it on the charger so its ready for the next time =/.
Of course you can charge it every night, I was told it isnt a good idea to use it at length while it is fully charged and plugged into the charger, so watching a film or playing mp3 etc is best with it unplugged, this is to prevent too much heat being produced, I have no evidence for this being good advice but it makes sense that heat will not do a battery any good.
When the battery is around 80-90% full, and your just not using it, do you just stick it in the craddle or the charger so its always fully charged whenever you need it, or do you let it completely die then charge it?
li-ion batt's dont require you to use it all up
so there is no point when the batt dont have "memory"
like the old nicalm batts
so people who charge it when its like 80% and leave it in the charger even when its 100% for hours so it doesnt drain, is that bad? will it discharge the battery eventually?
no it charge to 100% and then start to use the batt untill it reach a surden level and then start to charge to 100% again and repeate!
you cant really hurt a li-on batt unless you use water a hammer or give it much more then the volts then it's made for
Just thought I'd pass this along. This little battery charger for the Wing or Dash charges your phones battery with just one AA battery. It kicks up the voltage from 1.2-1.5v to 5.7v. Saps the hell out of the AA battery but charges the phone -- its really cool. I bought two of them.
I'm Not the seller - I have No interest in selling these. Just thought Wing users would like to know there's such a thing out there.

How long of battery power do you get for 1 AA battery?
If it has small USB connector, can I use it for TyTn II (Kaiser)?
I will time it
Hi -- I've not timed it yet but I will and post results.
Iffy
I got one of those little portable chargers for mobile devices. It's a neat concept. Upon pruchasing one of those (in the US) for $19.99, it came with a cheap AA battery, and several adapters for different mobile phones. I used the AA battery that came with it and it charged my HTC Herald P4350 for 20 minutes. You can actually drain (and cause damage too) your phone battery it you have it plugged in (with a dead AA battery) your device (it said so on the package). This is my experience and others may be different. In a nutshell, the amount of time it charges depends on what kind of AA battery you use. Again, this is my experience.
True
Yes it does depend on the type of AA battery you use. A Lithium AA will give you much more than a rechargable NMHI. I put in an alkaline AA and talked with my brother for two hours today using my Bluetooth headset and this thing kept my phone to 100% charge the whole time.
I am not planning on keeping it plugged in all the time especially when its dead.
I am going to use NIMH AA batteries in my Solar Charger that sits on my Dashboard. Rotate them out and get basically free energy. Hey I know its not going stop the Icebergs from melting but its something.
Here are the specs from the package:
Input 1.2-1.5v
Output 5.7v
Standby 80 hours
Talk Time 2 hours
Charge current 850-2300m
Discharge 150-530m
*This one says nothing about draining your phone's battery in fact it says if using NiCads or NMHI to make sure it drains all the way down before you disconnect it. It says best results can be obtained using a Lithium AA but who can afford that.
It Should work with the Kaiser

Yes it has a mini USB connector and it should work with the Kaiser but you may want to ask the seller to be sure.
What is the purpose in doing this?
On to my real question
So anyways I charged my phone to 100%, removed it from the charger and wiped battery stats, used my phone and let it run all the way down and it turned off before I put it back on the charger. From reading you are not supposed to let it turn off. So should I do the process over again?
Thanks.
When I do the batter calibration I let it die completely and that's what it says everywhere so I think you'll be ok unless you really don't see an improvement in battery.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Seriously.. I think the USB charging port is bunk.. I brought the 2 batteries and a wall charger for 9.99 on ebay. I would always have to top off the batteries to they stay full charged...
With the Wall charger.. it's a way better way to charge. I"ve done 4 charge cycles.. and every time I plug in a charged battery off the walll charger it's stays fully charged for a long time.. then it trickles down... I serioulsy don't think calibration is the problem.. it's the USB charging port. There shouldn't be a need to Calibrate your battery.
Just my speculation.

i think he is talking about calibrating your battery in use with a new custom kernel, in which they recommend to calibrate battery.
to answer your question though, like you already know i did the same thing. the response i got from that is that it should not matter.
also i too got the 2 battery deal and wall charger for 9.99 and can deff say using a wall charger charges your phone way better than the included usb charger.

What is this two battery and wall charger?
For the kind of batteries we use in the cell phones, it is never advised to let the battery drain completely - this is stated in the manual that comes with the phone, too.
I believe it is wrong information that the battery needs to be drained completely in any case. Draining the battery completely actually reduces the storage capacity of the battery.
If you have more than one battery are you supposed to do the battery calibration for each one?
The phone comes with a li-po battery, for the li-on battery i have read that the first charge should be 4-6 houers , anyone know how mouch is the recomended first charging time?
Also any battery tips like when its better to charge are really welcome
hey there im about get my first X5, could you tell me how you did your first charge! thinking of leaving it for 4-6hours before i use it!
Li-ion or li-po batteries don really care how they are charged. First charges etc. are remains when they used nicd/nimh batteries...
charge to full and youre done...
