Recording a phone call - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hello anyone help me? I need to record a phone call, sure ive done it before and I cant find it in the book. can some one tell me how to ? thanks Peter.

when you go into the phone program in the buttom there is an icon which show an old mic

That just mutes my voice so the other person cant hear me speak. Thanks anyway.

Right I have sused it !!! start the conversation then press the notes button top left of XDA then press record on screen,. Thanks.

Record a call
Before you do anything. You need to press the Record button located on the left-top side as you hold the PDA facing you. It is remarked with the cassette mark.
As you get the next window. Select, switch to Notes.
You're done here. Close the window.
While on a call, press on the same buttone mentioned above and remember, by one press it switches to notes. Press and hold, it recordes the conversation both your and the caller voice.
Mind you that you cannot record the other end voice while on BT headset!!
Done..

Thanks, the only trouble with that is you have to keep you finger on the button. Peter

Has anyone remapped the answer button?

I have been searching all the forums for an answer with no luck so I am just going to ask...
I want to be able to activate MS Voice Command from the answer button on my wired headset (JAM). I guess that means that the answer button has to be remapped? Is there a program that can do this or do I have to fiddle with the registry? Sorry if the question has already been asked, I couldn't find it.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Matt
hehe, I would like to do that exact thing too....let me know if you find something out.!
The Mobidila.net 2.02 has the ability to assign the answer button to Mobidial...maybe U can look what it change in the registry files...and so U can find out how to change it...
regards,
Primoz
Thanks for the advice, I will have a look at mobidial. I was hoping to find a program that allows remapping of the answer button just like so many other programs remap buttons 1-5. Idealy a short button press for answer and a long button press for MS Voice Command. My Sony P800 worked that way, which was a nice system. I have been looking around on other forums and I'm surprised that most people are only interested in bluetooth headsets. Personally I prefer a nice sounding set of wired headphones for listening to my ogg files.
Matt
Matterhorn, have you found a way to map the headset button? I've alse been looking for ages for this.
Me too! Please post if you found a solution!
Cheers
I think Vito buttonmapper might work.
I can't test it as I'm still waiting for my MDA compct.

Hi All,
I just tried Vito Buttonmapper. Unfortunatly the remapping is limited to the standard 4 buttons you can choose in \settings\buttons.
This doesn't solve the voicecommand-headsetcontrol problem.
I hope someone can tell me otherwise, or come up with a solution, 'cause the voice command control with my headset is the only thing I'm missing.
Thanx for all the information in the forum!
cheers,
karolinger
HI All,
I just installed MS Voice Command 1.5 on my new Jam and I can't even get the AGC Microphone to stay on "enable" after I select it. Further, in Power Buttons options, I can't find the Voice Command option to assign to a button. What I did was copied the voicecmd file to the Windows\Start Menu so it would appear as one of the options in "Power Buttons"
I can't figure out why it won't keep the settings. After selecting it, I go back only to see the button is back to the default assignment. Please help. I got MS voice Command to work as long as I click on the shortcut I created. I need to be able to map it to a button. Thanks.
Hi Gybanez,
I can't help you with to the point advice, I'd just tell what I did and it worked for my. Hope it'll work for you aswell.
I installed Voice Command 1.5 from my computer. After a soft reset, I could choose Voice Command in Settings/personal/buttons.
I asigned it to the record button, 'cause untill now, I haven't used it. Works really well,
it just doesn't work wirh my headset...
The ACG microphone stays on disable! (Well, the microsoft manuel told me so...)
cheers,
Karolinger
thanks karolinger. I did it again and finall it works. The ACG Mic is disabled but it does work so I won't complain. I still have Blue Angel and I did install MS Voice Command 1.5 and didn't have any issues with it. Also, ACG setting stays on "enable" Thanks for the advice.
Hi gybanez,
Glad I could help you!
Maybe I stupid question... what does the ACG Mic? What chances when it's enabled?
cheers,
karolinger

SMS - how to call back sender?

So I did a little searching and couldn't find my answer. This should be an easy one for you guys.
I am new to Windows Mobile and when I receive an SMS from someone whose number I don't have stored it shows up in my conversation window with just the senders number.
example:
12131234567
"how r u?"
Now when I click the number to call the person back it won't let me. It says the number is not in your contacts, would you like to add it?
Here is the deal. What if I don't want to add it, I just want to call the sender to find out who the hell they are first. Can this be done? If so, how?
Highlight the number with the dpad and hit the call hard button?

that method does not work on my english x1i.
when i do that: highlight the number then hit the call button, when i hit the call button it just opens up the dialer and shows me the last call that i made.
You have to highlight it with dpad, not with touch screen. It is working without any problem on my UK X1.

thanks, wow. didn't know there was a difference between highlighting with touch vs with the d pad, but obviously so. thanks, that one was killing me though i still think its rather inconvenient to do it. i wish you could just tap the number and it gives you options with what to do with the number instead of having you do different actions to execute different tasks.
On my X1i Uk generic...
From the in-box just highlight(select) the message from the list with the D-Pad. If you use the touchscreen, the problem it will open it!!!
Then just hit the call button. it will open a window to verify number to dial and at the bottom of the screen it has a "Call " or "menu" soft button ....

To call even faster you can just use call button on unopend sms (for ex. you can read it, then close it fast with ok button and next hit call button to call this person).

Prevent "answer" button from dialling

The Take-Call/Answer button appears to haveseveral functions:
It switches to the phone app (Good)
It answers an incoming call (good as prevents having to use the slide)
It dials the last number in the Calls list display (bad)
I keep finding that I double-press the button by mistake and end up dialling someone without intending to do so.
Is there any registry hack that can eliminate this last function. I have tried using Mobile Magic to assign the key to "switch to phone app" but then I can't use it to answer an incoming call which is a bit of a pain.
Or do I need to find an alternative dialler?
personally I find that disabling the green button from answering calls is a good thing - it means that you don't accidentally press it when taking it out of your pocket for example! you could try AE Button Plus and set long press of the green button to "press green button" and short press to "launch program" -> "phone" that way if you accidentally double-pressed the green button it wouldn't call the person, but would still load the phone dialer and could still be used to answer calls, just holding buttn instead of pressing...
Closest solution I can think of...
Sounded promising - thank you. Unfortunately I can't get a long keypress to generate an "green button press". I have decativated the usual long-keypress action but still no joy.
I even tried implementing a "double keypress" for answer but it only works sporadically.
Slider for Calling?
The Take-Call/Answer button appears to haveseveral functions:
* It switches to the phone app (Good)
* It answers an incoming call (good as prevents having to use the slide)
* It dials the last number in the Calls list display (bad)

after my touch hd didn't make an international phone call of several minutes today from my pocket, I didn't realize how right were your words.
So, I unbinded the Green Phone Button with AEB Plus and I reassign "Key 1 (Press)" to act as Green Phone Button. From now only pressing for a while the talk/send button will actually call the dialer.
However, the most gentle touch on a contact in the default dialer will make a call... which most of the times really annoys. What would be really cool and solve many problems is to use a slider for making the phone call (not only for answering). I searched conscientiously in the forum and I found no solution.
An alternative solution would be to use other contact manager, like Yota Contacts, for example. But, having a slider for making a call would be so cool

HELP - remove call history from phone dialer or "confirm call"

Newbie here, getting used to my first touch screen phone and WM6.1/Touchflo on my HD.
First of all - this forum is GREAT! I have spent a week glued to it and has given me loads of helpful info during my transition from Nokia S60 to Touch HD.
However, there are 2 things I'd like to know:
1. Is it possible to remove the recent calls/contacts list from above the keypad on the phone dialer either through a registry change or using a different wvga dialer skin? It's too easy to accidentally press one of these and call someone I don't want to call. I am more than happy to press menu->call history to see the call history.
2. When you click on a name in the contacts list it goes straight to dial them (if there is only one number or you click in recent calls). Is there some kind of "confirm call" question add-on? i.e. if you click on a contact, instead of calling them straight away it asks you if you are sure! (This would actually be a solution to 1. above I guess).
I've been searching for hours for something like this so if it is already covered I do apologise for not finding it from searching (perhaps I am using the wrong terminology).
Thanks in advance.
Newton.
p.s. keep up the good work here!
First of all - welcome to the forum!
In terms of your questions....
Yes, this is an issue that has been discussed and as far as I know, no one has found a good solution for it. It is annoying that it automatically calls the contact you tap.
For your question Nr. 1: I don't know if that can be done.
For question Nr. 2: Here is a suggestion that I posted in another thread.
Keep in mind that the "recent calls list" above the number pad is the issue here.
On the other hand, if you simply open your contacts' list, then tapping on a name will not automatically call, but rather it opens the contact. Then, tapping on a number will call, and tapping on the name/picture at the top will open contact for editing.
1) I used AE Button Plus to solve this problem. Remapped the Green Button: One press -> Return , tripple press -> Green Button. Since then I had no calls by accident any more
P.S.: Changed from Nokia S60 (N73) to the Blackstone too ! Cheers!!!

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. Not sure what this actually means (we don't have a green button on Touch HD!!) but I'm going to download AE Button Plus and I'm sure I'll figure it out anyway.
Did you use the freeware version 1.0.1 or the paid for version 2.6.5 of AE Button Plus ?
EDIT: Just downloaded 2.6.5 and mapped green button triple press to green button and single press to nothing (I assume that's what you meant by "return") and yes, it prevents a single press of the hardware call button but does not seem to help accidentally tapping a contact in the recent calls list above the phone dialer keypad and dialing straight away. Perhaps you misunderstood what I was trying to do or I missunderstood your solution!!
Thanks
Newton

Remap the Button on the headset

Is there a possibility to program the button, which is integrated in the headset?
If I push it, nothing happens. If I push it twice, the caller dials the number I last called in the callhistory.
It would be nice if the caller would popup if I push the button one time, and maybe, if I hold the button for 3 secs, my player (Conduits) would stop playing or something like that.
Pressing it ones is for answering and hanging up a call
jeah, but on my samsung omnia which i had before the TD2, i pressed the button once and the dialer opened up, i liked that in some way, it must be possible to make this on the TD2 too.
and it would be simply nice if i could stop the song i am playing with pressing the button for 3 seks or something like that.
I installed the voice dialler software. Now when I press it, I can say 'home' and it dials home etc. or use it to fire up software.
