When I use my JAM to call someone (so without headphone), many people complain about listening to their own voice when they are talking to me. I thought it might have to do with the sound of the speaker being to loud as the sound of it is picked up by the microphone again. When I lower the volume during a conversation to counter this (using the volume switch), the lowest volume level still is quite loud. Is there a way I can decrease the volume more?
More ppl having this problem?
ROM: 1.03.00 WWE
Radio: 1.01.00
ExtROM 1.03.141
I hear myself sometimes. I cannot pinpoint when and why. It happens spradically. I hear myself echo super clearly. The other person on the line also hears echos.
Upgrade would fix ...
I've got the same problem. Without a BT headset there are sometimes echo's in the phonecall. With my BT headset there are no problems at all, according to the other user.
According to what I've read on this and other forums an clubimate update / upgrade would fix this problem. So the engineers are working on it. I don't know when this update will come out, and don't blame me for false information. I've based this on other posts ...
Knd regards ...

Hi,
When making calls I can't hear any sound at all....neither can the other person.
I can record and playback using the dictaphone function with no problems. I can also play back all sound using windows media player. and all other sounds within the XDA such as volume increase/decrease, beeps etc....
But when using the phone I can't hear anything :? ...does the XDAII have one speaker or two ? any help on this would be greatly appreciated...
Also holding down the green phone key does not activate the speakerphone function ?
BTW I have already done hard and soft resets

Does the phone work with the headset.? There is only one speaker as far as I know but 2 settings for phone/pda.
yes the phone works with the wired and bluetooth head set !!
Is this something that just started happening, or has it done it since a ROM upgrade?
I have the same problem appart from I get no sound from the wired heatset either. Not tried bluetooth as i dont have a bluetooth headset.
How long are you holding down the button? You hold it down after dialling the number for about 3-4 seconds, you should then get a popup informing you speakerphone is active.
No volume on unit
I have the same problem and it comes and goes. Anyone know how to fix this bug entirely?
No sound during call, speakerphone works and headset works.
I have the same problem:
No sound during call, however speakerphone works and headset works well. There is no sound only when I use it as regular phone. Person on the other line can hear me well all the time.
When I raise volume during call I can hear peices of the person on the other line, at the same time as phone beeps that it reached sound maximum.
This happened after phone was dropped and it hard reset itself automatically.
I am trying to reboot it now with different ROM.
Headset jack hasnothing to do with it, since speakerphone works well.
If anybody has any idea please share.
Thanks
xda 2 sound problem
Unfortunatley I have the same problem ;/
Identical as b11gy
Could anyone help us?
After rom upgrade the problem is identical
Hey.. did it happen after unlocking the phone?
I've got the same problem, Sound and mic work perfectly until I call somebody, I've got a wired headset, the speakers work during a call, but the mic doesn't.
I've just updated the phone from wm3 to wm5, but I had the problem before I updated, and i'n still having it. Does somebody have a solution for this problem?
The problem is not in Windows, because I updated windows from 3 to 5, it's not a hardware problem, because the notes-function work fine.
in an other topic I read some people think the phone is in headset mode, but if that is the case, mediaplayer etc. would only play via the headset.
Does nobody have an idea where to look?
I cant recall any more what was exact situation but as far as I remember I had same problem on 1010. Please check that part of the forum (wallaby), maybe it help.
A lot of pople had that with 1010, as far as I remember somehow we fonund that solution that worked for most of the people was to leave qtek on a dry place for a day and then charge it. That was the way I solved the problem second time and first time I patched it and it started to work (win 2003).
Heres the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=222433 maybe it help someone.
Hey guyz i was just wondering u know you put it on loud speaker, the person on the other line always hears an echo of his voice and they can immediatly recognize they're on loud speaker + it's kinda annoying hearing ur own voice. Is there anyway through this? I tried lowering the volume.. no use :/

I think it is either the distance of the phone from your mouth or the phone application itself! I think you do get this even on the normal desk phones, so does the N9210!
my bet is feedback from mic to speaker
all devices which have a mic and a speaker can get feedback
but most likely it would be something they could fix in the software
cybermate it's not Me who i hear the echo of.. the person talking to me always hears His echo and it's annoying to the people i talk to and sometimes id rather talk by speaker because im like typing or something ..
Yup, every time I use speaker phone I am told to get my head out of the bucket.
because speaker phone inc the vol the mic can recieve the sounds comming from the speaker
thats why they can hear themselfs
every time i have my head in a bucket while speaker with people on my xda2 people tell me to disable speakerphone
yeah same here !! shouldn't they have THOUGHT of that at least !! it is important to some people !
I have the same problem any fixes for it.
Yes, me too on my QTEK 9100. Unfortunatley most of my day is spent in long conference calls and the speakerphone is a must! Anyone with any fixes please let me know.
When ever I use it people complain that they can a) hear themselves and b) can hear alot of hissing sounds
Hi All,
I'm using my wizard as a cell phone (without bluetooth), and the people on the other end complain that they hear themselves, with a second-long delay. They hear me just fine, but it's really distracting to hear what you just said come back to you about a second later (it's very low volume, obviously). What I'm saying does not come back to me, only the people on the other end have this problem. Is there any solution to this problem? Is this a known problem? I'm on WM6, 2.19.11 radio and use Rogers in Canada.
Thanks!
Thats usually a sign you have your earpiece volume set too high and it is passing back to them via the mike.
Try turning the volume down whilst in a call and see if that helps.
Thanks, buit it doesn't seem to work too well. I think it may be on the recieving side, or may have something to do with reception. Actually, I noticed that the speaker volume adjusting doesn't actually make the speaker louder/quieter, it has next to no effect.
Recently my friends have been complaining of lots of buzzing from my phone when I make or receive calls. I called my house phone and noticed that sometimes I could hear the GSM radio noise that I often hear around speakers. I can't hear the buzzing on my end of the phone, only the person on the other end can. Also a lot of the time it comes and goes much like the GSM radio noise does when you leave a phone by speakers.
I think it's been going since at least the official WM6 update from AT&T(not sure what radio version was packaged with that), but it could have been longer. I updated the VP3Gs 3.62 rom and the 1.48.00 radio today and still got the buzzing. Also tried the 1.54.07 radio as well but got the same results.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Also, has anyone noticed that if you put hte 8525 just about an 1" from your ear a high pitched whine is being emitted? Can't hear while the phone is pressed to your ear, but still annoying none the less. Thought it might be related to my other problems perhaps.
Ok XDA, i have one big/huge/enormous problem,
Scenario:
Talking on the phone, using the Wired Handsfree (which came with the phone), when i get another call (call waiting) the notification of the other call is going through the loud speaker! not only that, the ongoing is immediately routed the loud speaker, anyone near me can hear the conversation clearly!!!!!!
does anyone face this?
i checked it on 2 X1s, 1 black & 1 silver and it's there.
anyway to solve this
same problem for me
I have a similar problem with a Parrok CK3100. The phone can't ever seem to decide for sure what speakers it's supposed to be using.
Sometimes I'll press the Voice Command button on the bluetooth device and the phone speaks out, sometimes the car speakers speak out.
I just don't know.
Annoying that the much, much cheaper E71-2 handles all of this with great aplomb, as did my Q9h.
any one else facing this problem people?
i started searching in order to get a clue,
the main thing i'm thinking is that it's caused the same way VOIP (including skype) used to behave using speaker phone!
what do you think?
I have the same problem with a german x1. ROM R2A.
Is there any solution for this problem
thx
walk
Fixed
Bugs Fixes (Registry):
Sound is routed to the Loud Speaker when having a phone call and get a waiting call while using Handsfree
change the key HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\Speaker to 0 (default value = 1).
added to the wiki of X1
Thanks. I've changed that setting to see if it solves my problem, too.
