Hi,
I just got my MDA II and love it. I've used pocket pc's before but never really got deep into it. I was wondering how, if possible, how to get the .Cab files from .exe's so I can put them in the ext-rom? I want to make my own custom ext-rom but dont have some of the .cab files for certain apps i want in it, I only have the .exe install files. Also...is there a way to save my settings in the ext-rom also? Im away from home and desktop alot so incase of a hard reset Im safe.
Thanks
When you install any program (using a setup program), go, on your desktop PC, to \Program Files\Microsoft Activesync. You will find there folders with the names of the programs you installed, and, in each folder, the related cab file. A few programs install directly in a folder in \Program Files.
thanks for answering.
Or if you are under Windows XP, sometimes you can just right click over the .exe file and select extract, there you will see all the files, including the .CAB ones...
here we going to share on how to customize the PPC after doing Hard Reset.
Normally after Hard Reset, There are clean n nothing inside. So how to add some files inside so that next time if I do Hard Reset. Only the selected new files will automatically installed. How do we do that ?
Thanks..
as i looked carefuly to the files in the extrom, there is a file "config"
so i asume when you create cab's for ppc and place them in the extrom and add a line to the config like te other's.

Using resco file explorer or windows file explorer, go to windows folder and view all files.
Locate LoadVDisk.lnk and copy it to the Windows\StartUp folder.
Soft reset your device and it will then be visible.
You can try running it instead but it doesn't always work on my device.
Hi guys!
Playng with wifi connection I map some folder of my laptop on my Jamin and now I don't know how to unmap that drive...
With Resco Explorer I can unmap the path but on WM5 file explorer it still persist.
After soft reset it goes up again on Resco Explorer too...

Hi,
Is it a folder or drive that you have mapped? I'm asking 'cos you said:
'I map some folder of my laptop on my Jamin......'
You also said:
'and now I don't know how to unmap that drive...'
Assuming that you meant having mapped your folder, but are now unable to un-map it, a walk-around is to:
a. copy the contents of the mapped folder onto a newly created folder and
b. delete the original mapped folder.
This will get rid of it.
If however, you meant that you are no longer able to un-map a drive, I take it that the drive is a virtual one. The walk-around is to:
delete the virtual drive so that it no longer exists.
Personally, I can't see why WM5 is not allowing you to un-map a folder or drive. Perhaps a dig into the registry would de-mistify it BUT please be most careful as to what you do if you follow this route.

I have the welcomehead192.png image reade to replace the wm6. But when i copy to windows dir is write protected. How can I do this I am so very new in WM
Thanks
look for a program called "Total commander" its a file explorer that can move stuff even if its write protected, use that and then drag it into the proper folder
