Usually, after I send SMS, I get the "Message sent" envelope on my screen.
Tapping it once takes it away.
Today, it won't go away. How do I get rid of it?
How do I get rid of message confirmation in general. I'd rather not get these "Message sent" messages at all.
after a softreset everything is ok!! So softreset....
But I know why it won't go away! If you use a taskclosing program like Pocket Plus or Pocketnav, and you close messaging program after sending sms, but before you got the sms sent notification appeared and disappeared, then it won't go away!

my question is how do you get rid of the envelope????
Please help me
Thanks alot
Zetex
same problem
i have same problem ...
Hi m8,
i hope someone has the answer, and also does anyone have this problem with the UK rom installed???
Thanks alot
Zetex
I have had the same problem on my XDA II
but when i got the next SMS it went
i even did a soft reset.
Now my wife's phone is a Nokia 3330 and she has the same problem
Just do a soft-reset to get rid of the stuck "sms sent" notification.
This happens when you have SPB Pocket Plus installed and set to close applications when you click on the 'x' symbol. If you close the inbox app before the "sms sent" notification goes away, then the notification icon (envelope) gets stuck.
You have two choices:
a) Remove SPB Pocket Plus or set it so that it does not close apps when you click on the 'x' symbol, or;
b) Wait for the "sms sent" notification to disappear before closing the inbox app.
Possible fix...
Hi,
I'm using an XDA 1 but should be the same fix for you luck XDA2 people...
Start -> Settings -> System -> Pocket Plus.
Highlight Feature "Close Button" then click "Feature Options".
Click on "Programs to Minimize".
Add "inbox" to the list and hopefully that will fix your problems... (it did for me anyway!)
Enjoy!
Follow-up...
Just to follow-up....
I think my solution is intermittent!
Try also adding "poutlook.exe" and "tmail.exe" to the "programs to minimise" button.
Of what I have read, "tmail.exe" is the one you want. But put the others in as a pre-caution.
If this still plays about then the only thing to do (unless anyone else knows what programs the Inbox runs) is what rene_canlas quite rightly says with regard to switching off the close button feature on Pocket Plus.
The only other thing to try is going to the Pocket Plus web site and asking the question: http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/pocketplus/support.html?en
Go to the bottom of the page and ask.
Right,
Think I can help all of you! (maybe!)
Lets see if I've got this straight....
A text comes in and you get a wee white envelope icon in the top border with a "comment" box displaying the text message for a few seconds. If you do nothing with the comment box - or miss it (it only displays for a short while) and read the text through the "inbox" program the envelope icon on the today screen won't go away until you click on it and delete the text.
Pain, but it's because there are 2 routes to read messages which don't really talk to each other.
Hope this helps
MDA Vario II - T-Mobile.
On my 'Today' screen, it informs me that I have 4 text messages. When I click on the 'link' there is nothing in my text messages 'inbox'.
I've even sent on from another phone, and I can't see it anywhere!
Has anyonr got any advice?
Thanks
Ratzz
are you sure you're definately in the text messages inbox?
if you click on 'inbox' (top left) it'll show you a list of directories;
imap4
mms
outlook email
text messages
then click on text messages to go to the inbox folder.
appologies if you know this already!
Yep - that's exactly where I'm looking - and I have checked all the other folders (services) too.
There is absolutely nothing there - although I can, and do have emails.
weird! do your text messages flash up on the today screen (preview) when you receive them?
Have you restored your settings from an old backup? This can cause problems in PIM sometimes...
[bigshape]
I don't have a preview on the today screen, just a notification:
"Text Messages: 4 Unread"
Clicking on this brings me to the 'Text Messages Inbox" but there is nothing there!
[pof]
No, I haven't done a restore - I've had my phone one week.
Also(!)
When I send a text message from the phone (after clicking on send) it remains in the "Outbox" and does not get sent.
Anyone got any ideas?
soft reset your tytn or keep opening text inbox, it will evently shows up
thanks netboy, i had a message waiting to be delivered, and the soft reset sent it - however, the today screen stll says i have 5 messages and there is nothing in my inbox.
Have you received any text messages since you noticed the problem? if no, have you tried asking a friend to send you a text to see if that makes them all come through at the same time? worth a try, it might fix it
Hi Nicky - I've just sent a text from my old phone, and I am receiving them, but still cannot find the other 5!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!
I also had this problem, i used this software to reset the unread count: http://home.comcast.net/~relmerator/
I got a text message in my notifications, so I click on it, but it comes up empty. so I go back to the home window, but the text message keeps repeating in the notifications. I restarted the phone and it's still doing it.
It's weird :-/ Take out battery & insert again after 10 seconds, it may help...
Have you more than one SMS applications?
Nope, I have only text application that came with the phone.
I did the battery thing. It's still doing it. I keep getting he message showing up in my notifications bar. What's annoying is the LED keeps blinking green.
I've even downloaded a task killer and killed messaging and it's still there. I've also went into settings>applications>messaging and cleared all data and cache and the stupid notification keeps displaying and LED blinking. It's annoying.
okay fixed the issue and really simple and I feel stupid now.
When you pull down notifications, there's a big button on the top that says CLEAR. If you press that it goes away. LOL.... I feel stupid.
EDIT TO THIS: Nope this has not fixed the issue, the message has returned into my notifications.
Reinstall the software with SEUS or SE companion
import all sms to SD card, delete all msgs, then import them back into your phone

perfect thank you very much. It seems like it worked, simple and easy solution.
Only a small problem when I import the messages back in, the ghost notification message comes back. But deleting all the messages worked so I'll stick with that.
empty message when clossing message app too fast
I've got another weird text message issue:
If I send a message and press the back-button right after, the recipient will receive an empty message.
I need to wait for the red thingy next to the message's gone. I think that that icon means that the message is being sent.
Is that normal? Is it a setting I can change? I use the standard sms app....
EDIT: and I get a notification that the message is saved in concepts
I used to get weird numeric string messages from rogers on omnia but I hav't recieved any on xperia so far
When i get a message I get a notification in the notification bar, but when i open the text the notification stays until I click on the text bubble and the text is displayed on a black background. Is there anyway to change it so the notification disappears as soon as i open the text?
Thanks
Agree, this is annoying the hell out of me. One time I had 50 text messages (conversations from 7 people) and I had too many notifications. WTF is up with that. LOL
if u use back to get out of the msg app it will go away

True, but I'd prefer if the notification went away when I read the message, sometimes I read the message and go to the home screen and the notification is still there until I go back in the message app and click back.
use handcent messaging app instead. it works properly. Also use a custom home screen so you can set handcent as your main messaging program icon at the bottom.
hope that helps

You can do that without a custom homescreen too. When in the applications menu, press the menu key and then choose 'Edit'. You can move the apps in and out of the bottom bar just like you move other apps around, by holding your finger on them for a second and dragging them.
Nope, this doesn' work for me. I use Handcent and like I said, even after many text messages, all the notifications won't go away. Just have to "clear" all of em.
Very annoying indeed.
To clear multiple message notifications (per contact) you'd have to hit menu button -> More -> Discard
It's very annoying.
I'm looking for a workaround too. I really don't min this phone at all, coming from a Touch HD hehehe this is a major improvement (speed wise, screen wise, response wise even features are up there) but I do miss my custom energy cookie roms which brought my touch hd back from the dead a few times over the last year.

I also do this for the meantime I can start customizing my phone...
I think the best way to fix this is use Handsent SMS program and disable messaging notification.
so far the back button seems to be working lol (i used to press home)
Ever encounter if u receive a notification, the preview name and sender is different. Meaning if you go inbox and read the sms, its the correct sender. If its at the notification bar, it another name. Hmm. Wonder why.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
What you should do is use SMS Popup to notify you of a new text message.
Without this is what I get when I get a sms.
1. SMS arrives, phone rings + vibrates or w/e it's set to.
2. I press home to turn on the screen, and I see a SMS notification, and a SMS notification on the lock screen.
3. I swipe the glass.
4. I scroll down the notification bar, or press launcherpro's SMS icon that has a badge that says 1 at this point in time.
5. I read the sms, at this point I have to...
6. Press back, this clears the notification in the top bar.
7. Go back to home screen, and click the launcherpro icon if I choose to use the notification bar.
The worst bit is that I could dismiss the SMS after reading it entirely in the drawer, or when I 'got' it and saw it displayed on the screen.
I'm pretty sure Samsung's SMS app is just broken and doesn't report intents properly when messages are still alive and read and such.
issue no longer there
I've tried to get FROYO going on my phone using the registry hack
unsuccessful but what I ended up with a rom that's fixed this sms notification issue when multiple sms's are received from the one contact.
Basically no BACK button or MENU -> MORE -> DISCARD
needed for the notifications to disappear. I'm only guessing that this is also going to be fixed with Android 2.2
My current version is:
Firmware 2.1-update1
Baseband I9000UGJH2
Kernel 2.6.29
Build ECLAIR.UGJH2
This is the first time I get this message where and oddly enough ALL messages are marked as sent. I tried deleting cache and data then rebooting and as soon as I tap the sms icon the "message not sent" appears on the status bar. I have checked my conversations and there isn't a single one stuck on sending. Any ideas?
Sent from my Nexus 4
Oh boy.. I have started getting this error SO MUCH, for the past few months. Earlier I thought this was my operator's issue but if other N4 users are also getting it then it may be some issue with the phone's software or something. Plus, no one else who uses the same network at my home or friends are getting this issue. :s
Basically during a covnersation, often people start textimg me "hey where did u go"... or "u there" etc.. And infact I actually am replying them but they are not getting my messages. So I restart my phone and there I see "Message not sent" error in notification and a lot of red triangular icons in inbox conversations.
What to do :s
SOLVED
Found the following solution that worked like a charm!
1. Install Handcent SMS from Android Marketplace
2. Launch Handcent SMS
3. Press Menu Button >> More + >> Undelivered messages
4. Here you can delete undelivered conversations and end your "messages not sent" woes!"

It did not worked for me. Handcent was showing one undelivered message, but was unable to remove it. Maybe because both recipient and body was empty.
Very strange.
The solution was to:
1. install this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore
2. do a backup,
3. remove all messages from SMS app (you can do it in one shot from menu),
4. restore,
5. problem gone.
It's clearly an android bug.
