big problem, after taking battery out, Jam resets - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

The battery says its 100%. But everytime i take the battery out for 5 sec and put it back in again and turn on the pda, it is as if it has resetted and the stuff comes as if im putting it on for the first time (ie. the tap the screen and application stuff installs come) and everything is wiped off.

Looks like your battery is dead. Go back to your supplier and have it replaced

You mean the backup battery is dead?

i have the same problem
and i chang the backup battery
and update jame
and it's same whin u remove battery for 5 sec the phone do a hard rest
how can i solve this
plz helppppp

On Himalaya this ocurs too, but ONLY when the Phone was on (ie not in flight mode) when you take out the battery.
Remedy: Put phone in flight mode before taking out battery!
Maybe that also works with the Magician

But, every time you open the cover for the main battery, you switch off the device! There is a switch. Putting it bach into your MDA, you switch it on. Just this way...

Exactly, you switch OFF the device when the Phone is ON.
The are three ways to switch something OFF:
1. Go into Flight mode: Switches off the Radio functionality (including the Phone)
2. Switch off the PDA: Use the power-button, Radio Functionality remains active
3. Take out battery: All off!
When you take out the battery, the Phone (ie the Radio) has to be OFF to avoid a hard-reset.
When you take out the battery when the Phone is OFF, you only get a soft-reset

With my previous Xda II, I have the same problem too. But I think it's the small switch that cause the hard reset. When removing the battery we have to slide down the switch. After taking up the battery don't ever try to slide up the switch with the battery not in the place. Only when the battery is in its place then you should slide down the switch to lock the battery.

I tried turning on the flight mode before taking out the battery.. but the magician still resets!..
Any other suggestions?

With the Jam/mini, you NEED to flick the soft red plastic "Battery lock" out of its slot on the right hand side, or you will run the risk of a hard reset. You don't pull it right off, just flick it away from its "Locked" position. Not sure why a proper switch could not have been built in on the left hand side.

The red rubber is not connected to any kind of circuit.. it is there jsut to keep the battery tight.. anyways i tried it.. and my mini still hard resets..
Thanks for the input tho.

i have the same problem too... hard reset everytime i take the battery out even only 5 secs. i did turn the flight mode on, then press the power button. its not help. still hard reset. do you think the backup battery is dead?? how to check this? because its always show 100%.. please help.

hi all... for who has the same problem like mine (take out batery then got hard reset instead of softreset), the solution is: SENT IT BACK FOR REPAIR TO THE SERVICE CENTRE.
also, dont forget to write: " please change my RF/MAIN BOARD" otherwise, they will change ur backup battery only, and this wont solve the problem.
i got mine fixed, and i get new IMEI number as a result. first, they replace the backup battery only, and WITHOUT CHECK it, send the phone back to me. im shocked to find that it still had the same problem. made a serious complaint and send it back, this time the manager take care of my phone directly.. hehhehehe.... well, thats the story... thx for all of u that read n give comments about this problem.

New problem with intermittant soft rebooting

Soft reboots about 1 time per half hour now. Seems to have a hard time coming back to life after shutting down--flickering screen also the orange charge light goes off. Just happened again. This sucks.
Could be related to the charging function??
Did you installed any suspicious software lateley?
Have you tried a hard-reset? (do a backup first)
Now its hard rebootng by itself.
Its hard rebooting byitself now.
No new software. Looks like a trip to the shop where i bought it for service.
Pressing the power switch does a hard boot now.
Checking now the reset button--could be jammed.
On about the 10th hard reset--every time it completes installing and thenas soon as i press the on/off button it goes haywire
-or even before presing the buttton.
i have a similar problem, but i turned out to be that:
one my battery is dead, i cant recharge (charger at home)
i plug an external charger that uses 4 AA batteries...
it works fine, BUT when those 4 start to die, the xda
keep softreseting, somtimes even b4 it fully get booted.
so... check your main battery, maybe its dying on you!
Interesting!!
Took the unit to the shop today--they played around and at one point insisted that it was my sim card that was causing the problem.
Finally could see that the secondary battery had gone to 0% and was not recharging.
So in had to leave it there for extended service. Had to buy another mobile phone to use as a backup--bought the smallest thing i could find as I will use it at times i dont want to lug around the xda.
...you know, that could be true too, there is a small switch by the sim card, that if not pressed firmly, it resets the device.
a common problem if you remove the sim card often.

Quick answer required

Is it possible to remove the battery for about 10 seconds without hard resetting and if so how is this done. ta
Yes, you can even go longer than that, as long as the backup battery holds charge. Yes, it has an internal backup battery. Go to System/Settings/Power and it will display how much power is left both for the main and backup battery.
Is there a particular technique cos in the past every time i've flicked the little red lock switch it's hard reset.
Also I read elsewhere that you need to make sure that the phone is in flight mode as the backup battery can't power the phone??
please advise
I'm not sure but afaik, removing the battery (flicking the red switch of course) will turn the pda and radio off coz when you put back the battery (and the red switch), it will soft reset the device. I guess you shouldn't flick back the red switch until the battery is replaced.
Don't drain the backup battery for it will hard reset your device.
There is a problem with some XDAs that when the battery is removed it causes a hard re-set, this is because of a fault in the XDA and should be sent back for repair.

loose of programs

Is this right.
i have an old MDA compact and I am in the process of unlocking, the expensive way through my service provider. I put on tomtom for my girlfriend as she is having the thing.
It was left for a week or so so wasn't charged and everything I did to set it up has gone, including the programs like tomtom I put on.
How annoying is that?
Knowing my girlfriend this will be a regular occerance as chargin her phone is somehting she never does. or buy credit, or turn it on, or answer calls.
u have to charge r phone regularly. never let the battery run dry as otherwise u will loose all the info in ur phone. remember u have a chip inside ur phone which is running all the time so it needs power all the time. any loss of power will delete all the info in the phone. when not using the phone put it on flight mode as it saves battery.

Xperia not turning on

today morning when i get up and try to check my sms'es..the phone is off.
i try to press the button on top but it doesnt turn on.
i plug in charging cable..it powers...but the OS never loads..and as 'windows 6.1' green window comes..the phone goes off again.
this happened 3 times.
i also removed and re-inserted battery...but still the same.
what is the problem?
It doesn't have enough charge.
Turn the phone off, charge it for a few hours (overnight preferably), then turn it back on.
If that doesn't work you might want to hard reset it (Hold left and right HW keys while turning the phone on then use the keyboard for the prompts).
This Thread deals with a very similar problem to the one you are experiancing.
thanks got it.
it is on now.
seems like the battery was totally dead.
It's funny how there is a topic about this in the front page full of responses and you ask in a new topic.
was panicky...was expecting this girl's sms.
be carefull next time before posting

Phone won't turn on!

Hello guys.
I have a Jade (Touch 3g) which I have hard-spl'd and installed the SpaceJade WM6.5 rom like 2-3 months ago. Yesterday I have turned off the device and took out the battery to check the serial number. Device was working perfectly fine until I turned it off. Than I have noted the serial number and put the battery back in. Than I left my desk for like 45 minutes.
When I got back, I remembered that I did not turned it on. And when I tried to turn it back on, nothing happens! I have tried to charge it but even charging light is not lighting up!
I have tried the volume down + middle button + power button combination, even pressing the reset button, but no luck.
It is probably a hardware issue, which requires an authorized service station to look at it. But the problem is, I have hard-spl'd it and they are probably going to claim that it is out of warranty.
So my question is, which is really quite silly (but I still need to try), is there any way to load stock-spl before I send it to service station? I know it is not possible to install stock-spl without turning it on but maybe there is a chance
By the way, I did not made any chance on the phone or installed any programs in last one month.
may be..
Sometimes you simply have not correctly installed battery, so your phone can not give it power

no, I have installed the battery correctly, no problem. It is not possible to insert it in wrong direction anyway.
by the way, I have measured the battery with a multimeter, it reads 3,8 volts so battery is OK.
