i just got my mini, yay
i plugged it in for charging, the light was orange. I then read the manual and it said let it charge first time for 8 hrs. But after 1 hr the light went green which means its fully charge right? so do i just leave it like that for another 7 hrs or can i start playing with it. IM a bit confused.
thanks

Ok, I never did this before, but my phone was at 100% charge and I decided to turn it off and charge...... Well it took about 1 1/2 hours and the light finally turned green. So I took it off the charger and plugged it back in and now its been charging for over 2 hours and the light is still red!!
I wonder if this is why my phone was dying so fast. I cant believe that even though my phone said it was at 100% its been charging for over three hours OFF and its still going.
This is just crazy.
I found on the evo forum, can't remember the link, that our batteries have different cells. Charge your phone for up about 6 to 8 hours, while on, turn it off when fully charged, then unplug charger and plug charger back in when led goes off and charge until led turns green again. Repeat that process of unplugging charger until led goes off and plugging back in until green a total of 10 times. From what I read, it's supposed to help improve battery life. I haven't tried it myself so I can't verify it works.

I've also read bump charging like that can be seriously detrimental to battery health over time...besides this phone doesn't need it...just recalibrate the battery by letting it die until it won't turn on, then I like to pull the battery for 30 seconds to make sure it really resets but not sure its actually necessary....then charge it while off til the light turns green...I usually unplug before I turn it back on....I've gotten pretty stellar battery life with moderate use since doing that and rooting and removing bloat helps even more....like 25-35 hours (will be less if you use it heavily, tons of videos and games will kill it quicker, but even with reasonable amounts of games and vids you can hit 25 hrs for sure)....I've read doing this about once a month is good but letting it die too often is bad too

I tried that and for some reason while I was at school it would lose about 15% battery life while I was in class for about 1 1/2 hours with no use at all.
I use the tunein app while at work and I can start at %100 and after about 2 hrs it's down to %20
Ok, so its been like 10 hours the light turned green once I unplugged and plugged back in and the light stayed red for another two hours. I gave up and turned it on while it was red..... Battery was at 96%..... Wtf

when i charge my batt, i never charge it above 95%, and it actually last 2-3 hrs longer than a full charge.
Also if you notice, when u unplug it from a full charge, within the first 10-15min it goes down to 95-90%...
what im assuming is the phone over estimates its charge, and ends up over charging. then it has to let off the excess?? psh idk im only guessing based on observing

They design phone batteries these days so that you do not need to do these crazy tricks. In the past it was useful, but not anymore

Mine would do that too. Take a close look at your time without signal. I notice that I have horrible signal or that I am roaming when I'm in huge lecture halls. You use more battery life when your phone is contantly looking for signal.

+1 about 3 hours..
I dont know but its half a day, It says in the manual dont use it while charging haha, on heavy browsing it never charges up This phone is a power guzzler.
3 hours from an AC socket.
I'd expect 7 hours from a USB.
Hi, I got my Defy today. I put the mobile for charging 2 hours ago. I'd like to know for what period should I put it for charging as it is the first time for optimum performance of the battery..
I tried searching the forum for a similar question but didn't find any. Please delete this post if it is a an already answered question.
Doesn't matter. May be charge it for some 2 hours more. You can't overcharge the battery - it has protection. For optimum performance, just don't drain the battery to 0%, although it has protection for this too.
Ok, thanks, its already been 2 hours since the battery reached 100% mark. Will stop charging now.

Although it is generally said that a new battery should be charged for at least 8 hours before use, it may not be necessary. Just fully charge it. However, the capacity may be lower and unstable at first. If charged too quickly, just take it out and reinsert it, and connect the charger, again.
What I normally do is charge it till 100% and disconnect.
Then every month, I'll use up the battery till it shuts itself down, turn phone off, charge it till full.
Any other time, will plug into mobile charger whenever I'm in the office till it's 100% and use it thereon.
Both answeres after mine, are for the old nicd batteries. For liion batteries it is bad to overcharge and discharge to min. Anyway, as i said, there is soft and hard protection for this, so n.p.

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCE!!! I MEAN NONE! that you allow ur batt to goto 0% or you will be effed royally by Defy. I and many others faced this. If your battery is like 15% you either charge it instantly by USB or if you have no means then just turn it off and charge in wall charger when you go home. Just don't ever let your defy goto 0% battery because if it does, you like me and many others will be stuck to M logo or white LED ****.

your lucky bro! don't do that, i was like you all naive and my defy was fine until one day, that happened to me. It didn't turn back on when i tried to recharge it only White LED or M logo.
I didn't even do any flashing or rooting of any kind on my defy then, heck i was on 2.1 eclair. So, be careful and heed my advice or one day you will regret it like I am now.

Use juice defender for added improvements from first day.. i get 2x boost , to save those extra bits when most nedded .. as for ur question , you need to calibrate your battery in order for it last longer
I advice u to charge 100% + 2hrs , and then discharge it to 10% or lower Without charging it in between !,
i had my Note 3 for just a couple of weeks ago, and i found a weird problem the phone charging is perfect till 95%, From 95~100% it can takes like 30~50 minutes !!!!! i don't know whats wrong

My phone took around 2hrs to complete charge. If your phone took about the same time then it could just be a software glitch. Try factory reset or reflash firmware.
If it took obvious longer time let say 3hrs or more then it could be a hardware problem.
I reflashed the official rom poland one 4.4.2 but still has the same issue
Charging li-on battery gets slower towards the end of the charging cycle. That's normal. The only thing you should be worried about is how long battery lasts in use. If you have bad battery it charges up faster, not slower then also runs out of juice fast.
Charge with original charger and cable to make sure problem is not there.
I always leave my note charging over night so I don't know how long it should take to reach 100%

Normal for my phone
Hey guys, it's my first post ever here and unfortunately it's about an issue I'm having with my phone.
So, yesterday it had a 25% charge, I plugged it in using the OEM charger and cable and it literally took more than 5 hours to reach 100%.
I thought it was really strange, since it always charged really fast since I've got it two months ago.
Today, it had a 90% charge so I restarded it and plugged it in. It was charging 1% every 2~3 minutes.
As I mentioned in the title it's a D802 running stock rom non rooted.
Any solutions?

Was it hot? My phone charges slower on hot days due to hardware limitations.

A bit, yeah. And that kinda makes sense, since I live in Portugal and it's kinda hot.
But anyways, I fully depleted the battery and charged it while it was off. 1 hour and 44 minutes passed by and it's 97%. Back to normal, I think?
Also, I turned on the AC before I plugged it in.
Edit: Alright it's a 100% after 1 hour and 49 minutes.
