How to have the speaker on when calling? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

That could be handy ! I sometimes call helpdesks and they keep me waiting, so can I turn on the speaker?

Press and hold the answer call button for a few seconds?

But that doesn't work if U R calling them!?

well ..it sure does.. just hold the green phone.. for some secs..
Carlis

Anyway to keymap other buttons. I scared the green button will spoil, because needs to hold it for about 3-4 seconds each time. Any Help? Thanks in advance.

cant get it to work.. tried at least ten seconds.. but then again.using other progz which might interveine...

Hold the green call button for 3 seconds. A balloon should appear and tell you the speakerphone is on.
To revert back to the earpiece repeat the procedure.
cheers
Russ.

This procedure worked fine in the beginning. Meanwhile it turned out, that there seems to be a major bug in the present software. There is somewhere a thread here which describes that problem, as far as I remember it was called something like "handsfree ....."

How to activate loudspeaker for XDA II

a little thing, How to activate loudspeaker for XDA II
any1??
Did you attempt a search for the answer to this question?? It's come up time and time again.
As you make a call, press and hold the dial button (the green phone button) for a few seconds. A little loudspeaker icon will appear in the start bar and you will then hear the call properly.
Thanks
Anthony
tnx for the quick reply,
yeah, somebody told me that way, but unfortunately i cant.. the call will end or loudspeaker still doesnt appear. keep on repeating the process but i cant.. is there a simple proggie to enable loudspeaker?
Holding the dial button doesn't seem to work for Magneto, nor does holding down the power button to shut off the backlight.

what / where are the lateral volume buttons, are they the ones on the side of the phone, if so, they do nothing to the speaker volume for me when im on a call.
can you please clarify, thanks
EDIT: I tell a lie, I have just tried dialling my voice mail, I put it on speaker and tried adjusting the volume. It does seem to work although it wont let me reduce the volume below a certain level. I wonder how my original problem occured then???? maybe its to do with receiving a call.
When I receive a call, the phone screen turns off, so how would I then put the call on speaker ???
Many thanks if you can help
you should tap the "green" YES call button on the left to make appear the screen and select your action like having the keypas to delete a message on your answering machine for example

Press the phone button and the screen will turn back on. You can also use the power button to do this. Once the screen is back on you can select the keypad, put the call on hold or anything else you might want to do while still on a call.

Thank you.
Nope, don't have that. And no it can't be changed, the red button is the one and only "power" key for the device.
Just use the onscreen hangup button...

Power on only with... power button ?

Hi,
I am struggling why HTC tagged a button as power on/off, if in fact all hard buttons turn the phone on...
Anyhow, any idea hot to change that and only make the bottom right button active for switching the HD2 on ?
Very annoying to have the phone switching on in bags or pockets constantly. I figure that if only one of 5 button had the ability to turn on, it would happen 5 times less...
Thanks
Well MY HD2 can only be turned on using the power button... I've tried pressing all the other buttons but they will not turn it on.
I've got stock ROM v1.66.
Brgds... /Tubgirl
Funny, also stock rom 1.66 here and all buttons work for power on...
bye
Sven
Yes that's correct if you mean "Standby modus". My phone will not power on by pressing other buttons than the power button. I'm using the 1.66 stock rom.
hmmm... any registery guru around to work this one out ?
For me too with the 1.66 stock rom. All buttons turns on the screen. Is there any way to turn on only with the power button????
Up,
please somebody help
well if you didnt have a power button you wouldnt be able to turn it off, regardless of which buttons turn it on again
there used to be an option in the settings menu on my omnia to do this but I really cant find it on my HD2, maybe some other users knows more about the location of this setting. (PS I was sure it was in the Lock or the buttons settings panels.)
Can't find much in the standard WM settings.
I'm also interested in a solution that the screen does NOT turn on by pushing any button.
Nothing find yet...
so what would happen if you're talking to someone and the screen goes into standby? If you want to get out of standby...you'd have to press the end/power button...thus ending your conversation in the process?
the way i understand it is that the HD2 uses the proximity sensor to determine when to turn off the screen during a call.
so i can't imagine a scenario in which the screen would go off during a call and never come back because the moment i pull the phone away from my ear, the screen lights up!
Aren't people confusing standby with turning the phone on and off?
The power button is the only button that can Power on the phone from Off....
However any of the buttons can bring it out of standby...
Bit like my TV... if in standby any button will turn it on, but if turned off only the power button will turn it on.....

I'm sure we all know what the OP meant.
My problem is that, if you put your phone on speaker mode, it'll negate the proximity sensor altogether. If my understanding is correct, proximity sensor is only activated when you're using the earpiece and not the speakerphone. So if that's the case, if I were to talk through the speakerphone and the screen goes into standby after a minute or so, how would i bring it out of standby? If all i have left is the power/end button, then that will end my conversation. People who use the speakerphone a lot to talk will know what i mean...

Totally agree with you! I use this all the time, or even a bluetooth headset...
Probably why HTC didn't implement it like that and any button brings it out of stand by...

Nah... that's nonsense. If HTC had been clever enough to allow bring out of standby using only one button, it would also have been clever enough to program "don't end call when power button used to bring out of standby"...
Anyhow, I personally would love to stop having my phone switching on constantly just because any random object/coin will hit any of the hardkey.
No disrespect, but this has gone off topic. I get your points, but the question is whether/how can it be achieved, not whether or not you would personally want it.
And up...
Thanks

[Q] Cant shut down calls,why?

Hi, I have this problem with my SG3 (XXJPF),that I cant shut down calls, because the screen wont turn on. Is this problem only on JPF,and how can I fix this? Thx
I left this stock rom a few months before, but i remember the screen turned on after a few seconds (turned off by approximation sensor before). It must recognize your ears dissappeared...
Personally I would flash another ROM there's plenty to choose from
However if you haven't voided your warranty you could always get it checked out.
Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt and It can be really annoying. I think I ll try jpm
Let me know if it fixes it - if my suggestion helped you I would be grateful if you could press the Thanks button. Cheers
I just press the menu button then it lits up.
You can end the calls using the power button.. Settings-accessibility- check power button ends call..
