Is it possible to flash the Jam with the T-mobile WWE rom?? Will this help fix the awful phone quality issues until Imate gets around to releasing a rom upgrade. I see the T-Mobile wwe rom is on the ftp along with ntrw. Do you need to replace any of the header information since it is going from Imate WWE rom to T-Mobile WWE? I have a Lexar 512 mb sd card, should that work okay? Any help would be appreciated, the sound quality is awful for phone calls even with a headset. Everything sound great when using Meia Player 10.
Yes. It's possible.
There are two sound issues wit the Jam. The ROM issue and the issue of the speaker's soldering. THe update will fix the ROM issue but not the speaker issue.
I don't know if you'll need to replace the header.
Some SD cards get fried in the process but I'm not sure which ones do.

Hi everyone.
I have an o2 xdaII mini, that I got a few days ago - which I'm very happy with except for the sound quality during a phone call.
Regardless of the speaker volume, the sound of the remote person is fairly distorted at times - almost like the internal speaker is blown.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues with this device while being used as normal phone (i.e. not on speakerphone)?
Hi, I have an MDA compact and I immediately noticed that the sound quality is VERY low...not even comparable to the P900 I had before....
and not only! I know other 3 user (they have the JAM italian version) that say the same thing as well!!! (from www.newsmobile.it)
I would like to send it back to the shop (in Germany), but I am not sure about it...
It was me to wrote above...
I am wondering also if a different RADIO-VERSION could make the difference in audio quality...
My version is:
ROM-version: 1.01.01GER
ROM-date: 10/21/04
Radio-version: 1.00.10
Protocol version: 1337.36
EXTrom: 1.01.120 GER
I repeat that I am very disappointed with audio quality in phone conversation...
My O2 XDA Mini's Radio version is 1.01.00.
It's true that the sound quality during phone call is not as good as XDA II, but I believe it is good enough for me.
It's a lot better than my old T68i and Treo 600.
Ok let me say this! I got the German T-Mobile with the German OS sound was perfect then I flashed it with English T-Mobile ROM the sound was still perfect! Then I flashed it with the iMate JAM ROM the sound became problematic with all the troubles you described so I flashed it back to T-Mobile's English ROM and the sound problems were solved again!
Conclusion the iMate ROM is buggy as fas as it concerns the sound quality and from your posts I see that the O2 has familiar problems with iMate's ROM. So I will stay with English T-Mobile ROM till a ROM upgrade will solve the problem in iMate's or O2's ROM.
Very good info, katsj
i-mate JAM (WWE)
ROM version: 1.03.00 WWE
ROM date: 11/01/04
Radion version: 1.01.00
Protocol version: 1337.38
ExtROM version: 1.03.143 WWE
Sound is decent. Not as deep/rich as my SMT 5600 (SP3), but I have no problems hearing people (or being heard)...
i-mate said that they'd have an JAM ROM update on clubimate.com soon. (who knows what 'soon' means though!)
My radio version is 1.01.00 too, and my sound quality leaves much to be desired.
I discovered today that the sound is so bad that I can't understand the remote person at all if there's any more than a minimum level of background noise (i.e. in a department store).
The info katsj gave us regarding different ROMs is promising, but a refund seems more attractive at the moment. :-(
iMate already promised a new ROM fixing this problem! I dont want any refunds! I want this incredible phone to be perfect! Maybe the sound quality needs to be fixed but it is the ONLY phone that I can make a call at my house's elevator without loosing a word! All other phone I ever tried were just dropping the call! Even SE K700i which has the reputation of the best reception!
Like katsj, I have an MDA Compact with the T-Mobile english ROM and the sound is just fine. I was using a P800 then a P900 just before I got the Compact, and I cannot tell any difference.
Very well! I will wait my SD 1GB and I will try to upload an english ROM Tmobile...
The fact is that I have a German Tmobile ROM that, in katsj experiments, should be excellent for sound quality but in my case is very bad...
Why?
one more thing: which are the JAM forums where people are complaing about sound quality? I would like to have a look by myself....
i got the imate jam and the sound is really bad... i will try the t-mobile english version and hope it corrects the problem.............
hope someone could find a fix for it soon
O2 XDA II mini here, and sound distortion is bugging...
Radio version: 1.01.00
I'va got a MDA Compact from t-Mobile German versione updated with english ROM and my audio is very good.
I've got an i-mate JAM with the following:
ROM version: 1.03.00 WWE
ROM date: 11/01/04
Radion version: 1.01.00
Protocol version: 1337.38
ExtROM version: 1.03.143 WWE
Terribles sound quality - has anyone actually flashed the ROm to the T-Mobile English version and the problem been resolved?
Otherwise it's going back for a refund - love the the device - but can't put up with the poor sound quality...
Where can I find the English T-Mobile Rom???
If the problem is just with the Radio version, can someone tell us how to update the Radio ROM only. 8)
I moved from German Tmobile ROM to WWE Tmobile ROM and AUDIO has icreased a lot in quality... I reccomend this ROM to all people that are complaying about audio quality...
ciaociao
I just moved from the P900 to the O2 XDAII mini 3 days ago. My immediate reaction when I first used it was similar to the comments posted. The sound quality is rather poor when compared to the P900. I am not sure if this is a hardware issue or a firmware issue.
Same here
XDA II mini
ROM version: 1.03.00 WWE
ROM date: 11/01/04
Protocol version: 1337.38
ExtRON version: 1.03.147 WWE
Sctrachy, tinney, lacking bass, distorts, very loud even at lowest level- speakerphone is a tad better, but lack power, probably cause the treble would low the speaker.
I'm still having trouble understanding how it is the ROM version doing this- sounds like hardware to me....but if they can fix it, I'm in!
peppepep,
Can you or perhaps someone else with the T-Mobile MDA Compact WWE radio version post it to this site.
Perhaps someone can test loading this radio version onto the I-Mate JAM ROM and see if there is improvement.
Lastly, I have heard some JAM Owners say their audio is not that bad. I wonder if this is a hardware or radio issue?
I have interest in this topic, because I will have a JAM on Monday the 3rd.
Happy New Year all,
Ed
Has anyone got comments on the new BT Pacth from IMate? (attached)I want to know if people have applied it successfully to non-imate magicians, MDA, Qtek etc. Does it offer any other profiles or major improvements?
Is this even a bt patch?
I pulled it out of the Extended roms posted today, and on the club imate sit it said they had fixed BT. So this must be it?? comments
Had cross checked with the one that come with Qtek 1.06 ROM
The contents are the same, 8 files in total. All the 8 files with the same file size. Had tried the Qtek 1.06 ROM, so far I would say the Bluetooth is more stable than 1.03. Am currently using O2 mini.
Hi,
A friend of mine who lives in the states recently bought himself an i-mate jam. He claims that the sound is really bad and says it´s like listening inside a steel pipe or something. His ExtROM is 1.06.113 WWE.
I don´t have that problem at all. I bought my Qtek s100 in Sweden. My ExtROM is 1.06.116 WWE.
Read about that this used to be a problem earlier but as I understood it should have been taken care of by now?
What tips do you have? Just walk right back to the store and try to get a new one or is it a bug that can be fixed? What´s the difference between the two ExtROM versions?
Thankful for all tips you might have!
Still needs some help.... Anyone?
OK got a Himalaya and an Alpine (XDA branded) and my Himalaya is very happy now running WM2005 1.60a and the Alpine is running the O2 1.10 ROM.
I had forgotten how unstable WM2003se was compared to WM2005!
The phonepad keeps breaking, have to reinstall from cab files regularly, had to do this on the Himalaya too so it's not the particular ROM or anything I don't think.
Crashes, and lockups, corruption on the today screen that either require a soft reset or messing about changing today themes.
My problem is this, on the Himalaya running 2005, I have many apps installed to my SD card, which is fine, but when I need to use WiFi I need to unplug that to use the SDIO WLAN card, so I am unable to then use many of the programs installed.
Damn shame to let this Alpine gather dust, considering it has 128mb ram and rom, and could run 2005 so much better.
Are there any any newer English ROMs for the Alpine, or should I sit and wait with it boxed up until someone releases something else for it?
I was very annoyed at people working on 2005 for xda2 at the time as I believed that we would get grief from MS about it. It seems that, on the whole, that hasn't happened.
I got a 2i thinking that it would be the next upgrade, therefore when an even newer one comes along - ie Universal - I would be better placed to flog the 2i to pay for it. I'm almost starting to regret that decision as I would dearly love the have 2005 on my 2i...and if I had kept the xda2 I would have been enjoying 2005y goodness by now. Grrr!!
Bring on Universal that's what I say!!

where can us xda 2i owners find th imate rom!?
Yeah, I thought you had to enter your IMEI to access images on the i-mate site.
Have you got a direct link please?
Here!
Many thanks, getting it now
Alan,
I read your thread and have similar dislikes about me Alpine. I have an O2 XDAIIi.
How did your upgrade go?
I downloaded the ROM upgrade but haven't installed it. I am really green at this and not sure how/if I should back up the ROM I have in case I need to restore. Did you do that? Can you guide me on how?
If the ROM upgrade was successful, were you able to install 2005? Again, can you point me in the direction of that download, and instructions.
Greatly appreciated,
Kyle
Try this page, it's about the most up to date ROM for the 2i at the moment. I've had no problems with it at all.
Urm.. you didn't actually post a link?
I am using the i-mate one at the moment, too many people seem to be having problems with the O2 1.11 ROM
True
Sorry, blonde moment there.

I reckon the problem with the new O2 ROM is the radio stack is still the original one. The radio stack on the ROM in the above link is the much better I-mate one with the updates of the O2 ROM.
Has anyone yet worked out if it is possible to enable A2DP in the new I-Mate ROM?
It has been suggested that comparing differences in the registry between the "test" rom and the "ship" rom may shed some light on this. Can any qtek "test" rom users help with this?
Another suggestion is to post the extended_rom from the qtek "test" rom. It may be possible to install the AKU2 update cab from this to overwrite the current settings. Anyone got the extended_rom from the qtek "test" rom which they can post?
TIA.
Is this a dumb question? Can anybody tell me whether the A2DP has been removed or disabled from the latest i-mate rom?
Cheers,
Shamus
removed...if u want u can try Q Tek ROM
Thanks for the reply...isn't the qtek AKU2 rom buggy? I have read many reports of lock-ups from people using this rom.
I am not sure if it is possible to downgrade from the new i-mate rom as it has re-enabled the cid lock. AWizard and lockwiz don't work with this new rom. Anyone managed to downgrade from the new i-mate rom?
Cheers,
Shamus.

aWizard works with the iMate ROM if you just want to unlock CID. It is not able to change the 2nd splash screen. I just used aWizard to unlock CID on my Qtek 9100 to replace the latest iMate ROM with the Qtek test ROM with A2DP.
Just got this new Bluetooth stereo headset yesterday, which comes with a BT transmitter for attaching to my iPod, and it's working great with the 9100. I am one happy fellow!

Do you hear any strange sounds while listening BT-stereo from your Qtek? I've read a few posts where people complain about some sort of whine noise that can easy be heard during pauses between songs... They say it's a Wizard hardware problem - the reason why HTC disabled A2DP in the final AKU2 firmware.
i had no whining problems with the test rom using a2dp, however what did happen every so often was the pitch would change for a few seconds, i asumed it was due to the cache, from what i had heard the a2dp creates a virtual music memory to transfer at its own speed.
i'm using it with my iphono mini 450 headphones.
no pitch problems or whine?noise. ( do you realy mean whine or white?)
I do hear a very slight hiss, but that must be the headphones cos i also hear that when its not connected. Probably radionoise.
For me the rom is also running stable so i don't understand why they took it out of the rom
The only problem i have is when i wear my phone in my pocket the sound sometimes stutters when i turn my head or place an arm in between etc.
But thats probably due to the fact that the headphones are 10meter class
