connecting on msn messenger on XDA2s! - Networking

i need help connecting to msn messenger on my XDA2s! i have full wap and web access but it just says my proxy settings are wrong! please help!

Its blocked on your xda2. The port that is..unless you have a mobile web account. Which is contract users.
However, link your xda to your laptop/pc via usb lets say.
Play about with msn settings and it works...weird eh.

msn messenger problems now

hey guys
now im having probelms with msn messenger.
i use WAP to connect as i get free WAP minutes from genie/o2, iv set it up according to the instructions from genie/o2 and browsing web pages works fine.
however when i come to sign in to msn, it gives me a message sayin "Cannot locate the Proxy server" so i input the Proxy server's IP address into the Edit My Proxy Server menu in the Connections, that genie/o2 gave me and it gives me the same message.
any ideas?
thanks
you cant only use basic internet on pay&go.. you have to have a contract to use msn messenger or anyhting else that isnt http
i could use msn fine when i had my XDA 1 and i had exactly the same SIM card
is Is possible to do it as I have the same sim card and it works.
Although it WONT work at all through GPRS, only CSD.
However, recently ive been having problems signing in myself. saying "Logon to MSN messenger service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
This is rubbish cause it works fine from my pc and its worked before. aaaaaaaaargh!

Sometimes I hear about a sort of proxy tunneling that can be usefull to resolve this problem. Dont ask me how
Anyone an idea how they do that?
Yeah this used to be the case. Users can now log into msn without downloading any programs, eg proxycap, which is a tunneling prog i think.

you know any tunneling program ???
together with another member of ppcweltcommunity i ported desproxy...let me see if i can dig it up today..
Yes..proxycap is the program. However like i said you dont need it no more to connect to Msn Messenger and the internet can be cofiigured for proxy anyway. YOU CAN LOG INTO MSN WITHOUT PROXYCAP OR ANY PROGRAMA BY LINKING IT TO YOUR LAPTOP/PC.

Instant Messenger client allows proxy configuration

My Mobile Provider let subscribers access internet via GPRS with proxy and it seems that only traffic via port 80 gets through.
Is there anyone here know a messenger client that can communicate with server via this proxy port like PC version does?
Your help is appreciated.

yahoo messenger activesync

Is it possible to use yahoo messenger for mobile with the internet connection shared from the pc?
thaks
i think its possible with agile messenger and a shared net connection either over Activesync and BT or Wifi
yah i would say you can do it. i use msn messenger when activesync is connected via bluetooth. also surf the web through that connection.

Pocket MSN to work via proxied internet connection

Pocket MSN (MSN Messanger and Hotmail) only works with a direct connection the internet.
Does anybody know how to tweak it such as way (via registry setting etc) so that it can connect via the proxied internet connection.
The regular desktop MSN Messanger has the option in the app setting to allow it to work via a HTTP proxy server.
The reason I'm asking for this is that, some of us here in this forum, use the cheap GPRS service here in the US that only connects us to the internet via a HTTP proxy. We have web browsing and pop3 working, but not the MSN messanger and hotmail.
Thanks in advance for anybody that will provide some clue.

You must use a SOCKS-capable proxy. That is, not just a simple HTTP proxy. Also see http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?s=SOCKS+messenger&sentence=AND - in there, I've also elaborated on this problem.
I understand this. However, the data service we use (T-Mobile USA t-zones) does not support SOCKS. We only have HTTP proxy and WAP proxy support.
Using the same data service from my laptop (with my PPC as the wireless modem), I could run MSN Messanger from my laptop (by using the HTTP proxy).
The Pocket MSN however, does not work. I would believe there is some way to tweak it to recognize the HTTP proxy as well.
