I'm aware of the various BT issues with the XDA II, and therefore installed BT Tools thinking it may allow me to use my handfree kit. Unfortunately I'm experiencing problems and not sure if this is me doing something wrong or there is a problem with the software. Basically the XDA II does not route either incoming or outgoing calls via the handfrees unit. I have do the following:-
1. Installed the latest BT Tools.
2. Created a bond with the Nokia Handfree kit, when prompted for the BT profile (the BT Tools icon screen) I select headset only.
3. Enable BT on the XDA II
When I make or receive a call is there any button or menu I should be selecting to enable the handsfree unit?
From the Today screen, make sure bluetooth headset mode is enabled.
And if Bluetooth Headset Mode does not appear on the today screen:
Start -> Settings -> Today -> Items and make sure Profile is checked. That will put the headset mode switch on the Today screen.
Thanks for the suggestions, I must admit I had missed the headset profile on the Today screen.
Even with the device paired, BT enabled & the Headset enable neither incoming or outgoing calls are routed through the handsfree unit.
Any other suugestions welcomed...
With the new bluetooth tools you need to transfer the call to the headset...
I find the best way when dialing is to have the phone ready to dial, then i hit the answer button on the headset causing the phone to dial & transfer sound to the headset @ the same time.
When answering the call the headset should ring and you press the answer button on the headset to recieve the call.

When you say press the headset button are you referring to the headset icon on the XDA or the Nokia handsfree button?
If its the Nokia button , I'll try this tomorrow, if not, then the icon does not ring and when receiving a call it is covered by the incoming call window.
Many thanks...
the nokia headset button

Yep thats what I thought, I think I can confidently say there is a compatability issue with using the current version of BT Tools with the new Nokia CK-7W handsfree kit.
I've read the user manual for the handfree kit and that refers to switching/transferring the call between the BT devices using the button. The unit clicks as if there's something happening, but no call is heard, the unit works perfectly with a BT phone connected both Nokia & Motorola.
I would try uninstalling pocket BT tools - for using a headset it is of no additional value anyway. I do not have it installed and have never had any problems making or receiving calls with my SE HBH-30 headset.
Try using the earlier version of bluetooth tools, make sure you uninstall the version you have and also unbond/remove bluetooth pairings, rebond after successful install.
Pocket Bluetooth Tools is perfect! This is what I'm looking for, except I can't figure out how to listen to music thru my bluetooth headset.
Thanks for the great tool though, now I can make calls with my headset.

The BIG advantage is battery life and not having to re-enable the headset profile each time you switch on the phone! With both PBT and/or Profile not displayed, I also get more Today real estate to play with.
With BT on all the time, I'm lucky to get four hours usage out of my Xda II, with PBT turning it off after five minutes the time can go up to almost seven. Sure, there is a short lag between call coming in and the headset (HBH-65) ringing but I can live with that and it even works well with Pocket Zen Phone. I also like the last number redial facility it adds to my headset. PBT rocks!
I found one problem with this program. My device won't automatically turn off after installing this tool. The backlight turns off, but not the device after certain minutes set. Who do I report the problem too.
i have got this problem to carnt get the xda i to connect to my car blue tooth hands free kit it finds the kit but nothing gome on guy get ya thinking heads on n help  to revolve this problem

Hi everyone,
well, I got the same problem :x with my XDA2, also called Qtek 2020, and Nokia carkit 112. It just does'nt work, even with BT tools. But I wonder how you get the icon screen while connecting to your Nokia carkit...cause mine is going straight back to the "Bluetooth connected devices" screen. I only got the icon screen, enabling the profile selection, while connecting to my Nokia 6310i phone.
Let's hope that HTC is gonna come up with Handsfree profile soon...
Regards to all, special ones to our OZ friends!! Mates, I really enjoyed living in Sydney, even if Italy is quite convenient as well.

Heres another really pi**ing off bug in wm5
Sometimes, it transfers the call to the bluetooth headset....but....heres what happens -
1. It just transfers the "audio" (the other person's voice) to the bluetooth headset's speaker
2. The Mic of the bluetooth headset DOESNT work
3. I could use the jasjar to speak just like i hadnt transfered the call to the bluetooth headset at all....in other words, the speaker and the mic of the jasjar are functional!
Thats really wierd, and it seems to be happening all the more often of late....is anyone else having this same problem?
I really wonder how MS could release wm5 when it has soooo many god damn many bugs....i wonder if they're even doing something about it....grrrr
thanks in advance!

I just started experiencing something similar. Every bluetooth call I make has no mic audio. This is not my bluetooth earpiece as I have used 3 different earpieces and two have no mic audio and one works fine.
The two that did not work are Motorola H700 & HS850. The one that worked was a Jabra BT800 but I lost it somewhere.
I have been using bluetooth headset for almost a year, dayly, without any problem.
Me too. That is what is so strange. I've been using my Universal for about 1 year and all of a sudden, last week, I start having this problem.
Using Nokia HS 12 w with Ivan's beta4 no such probs at all
Hi,
Some background:
I'm currently working on a carputer project. Everything is working wonderfully and right now I'm going through the final phase of having my HTC Universal (WM6) phone use the car speakers and microphone as headset.
On my computer I am running on Widcomm BT ver 5. The Universal phone is running the MS stack. I managed to pair and connect successfully with my WM6 device. The headset works very nicely both ways, but with a problem:
Whenever a phone call comes in the phone automatically answers the call without even asking me. It rings once then answers. This does not happen while not using a BT headset nor does it happen with my regular portable Samsung BT headset. My universal is set to never receive calls automatically on all profiles. I'm assuming the problem is in the Widcomm driver but there doesn't seem to be anything I can change in the software settings.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem? I obviously don't want every single call that comes in to get answered. I wouldn't even mind answering the call from the phone itself (and not from the PC) as long as the voice gets routed from the phone to the car stereo with the external mic.
Thanks!
Yaniv
I have now tried 3 different bluetooth headsets with my AT&T Tilt with Stock Rom. First was my BlueAnt V12 I used great with my RAZR then I bought a Motorola S705 now I have Sony HBH-DS980.
With the BlueAnt V12 the audio was low and tinny and couldn't hear the caller
The Motorola S705 sounded good minor choppiness but the callers couldn't hear me worth a damn. Both of these devices paired great and kept connection, only the Motorola would loose connection if I got a system alarm or if I was streaming music. For just handset operation it worked great. With the Sony it seems to be a crap shoot when they are going to work. I installed JetWare to enable Caller ID Name and Ringtone through headset and when I pair them the first time they work great all day long. However if I turn bluetooth off on the phone and then back on I have issues with disconnecting and sound not going through headset for calls.
So I installed the new Official AT&T Rom from HTC's Site the other day hoping the bluetooth improvements they made would help. I decided to try JetWare again just to see if it worked, again I started having problems again. So I hard reset and didn't install the JetWare Extensions. For the first day everything worked great. Next day I fired it up it's up to it's old tricks of disconnecting after a call.
Anyone else having these issues? My state is going to be bluetooth only while driving in about 4 months so I really need bluetooth to work.
Can you charge the sony ds980 via usb?
No it has a real strange plug for charging
Hi, I have the Sony Ds980. I've experienced similar problems in the past.
check your Bluetooth settings on the phone: communication manager --> Settings --> bluetooth. Select your device (ds-980) but don't double click on it. and then check its mode: in that window, ensure that you have checkmarks in both options (i.e, Turn on bluetooth & make sure this device is visible to other devices). Sometimes, when you restart your bluetooth headset, the second option is left unchecked, thus causing disconnections between it and the device.
another option is to trigger the headset button. sometimes, when a call comes in, I would have to do this once or twice before it connects.
I think it is a bug.
i have the Jetware extension and MSVoice, and they help with the caller ID.
HTH,
rgds, Manny
I'm trying to decided between the DS980 and the Moto S9.
I'm so tired of wasting my money on crap.
Thanks I'll have a look at those settings, I just wish JetWare uninstalled nicely
I have been running it lately without JetWare and the only issue I am having this way is the wireless stereo portion disconnects after each Incoming call it does not do this if I place a call.
With JetWare I can sometimes keep it connected no matter what the issue is it connects but when I place a test call it rings on the headset but when I answer the call it isn't comming in on the headset it is still on the phone although the call button works and ringing on the headset works. It got to be a pain to have to place a few test calls to make sure the headset was working.

Well, that does it for me. The DS980 is officially off my list.
I'm developing a VoIP application.
When using bluetooth headset on a Galaxy Tab 4.0.4 i've the following problem:
When there is a voice call in the middle of the VOIP call, or also when I stop application and restart my application it will not use again the bluetooth headset microphone.
When the problem occurs it will keep not using the bluetooth headset microphone even afer stopping and starting bluetooth adapter or the bluetooth device. Only adb reboot seems to fix the problem.
There is a 'dirty' fix which i don't fully understand:
When the problem occurs calling from my application:
audioManager.setMode(AudioManager.VOICE_CALL)
audioManager.setMode(AudioManager.NORMAL)
Click to collapse
will reenable the microphone of the bluetooth headset.
IF this call was working always that would be enough to fix the issue, however there is a problem: sometimes (around 25%) just after calling the snippet I will start listening very annoying intereferences on the bluetooth headset each time SCO is enabled
I guess they are related to the following comment in AudioManager documentation: 'In particular, the MODE_IN_CALL mode should only be used by the telephony application when it places a phone call, as it will cause signals from the radio layer to feed the platform mixer.'
The question is: any ideas on what could cause and how to avoid the explained issue??
