Worry About Upgrade & Downgrade My XDAII - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

I got the Bootloader Version as stated below, somebody in the forum said that the XDAII with the bootloader version as mine can only be upgraded but not downgraded.....
In fact, I have downloaded few ROM version of W2003SE. I really worry that once I have upgraded my XDAII and If any problem happened I cannot downgrade it.
Is it TRUE???
Any Idea of this matter?

They took the link down from the front page, but if you go here and do the sytem upgrade its dated for 3/10/2004.
Edit: Oh and the version number is 4.01.16
Wonderful .... pulling it down as I write this....
I needed something to do tonight anyway...

this is the BEST post i've seen this year!!!
they realy should call it 2004 though, dont you think? lol
downloading now, will comment on it later.
Damn, has someone got a number we can enter into the box for D/L?
Oh, nevermind, nobody post their personal phone number or friend's phone numbers... there's an easy way  .
T-Mobile has an email service attached to their customer's mobile phone numbers, so it's [email protected]. So all you need to do is search google for @tmomail.net and you will find a lucky customer who has revealed their legit mobile phone number for your use .

Great - I've started to spread the word:

So, if I don't have an SD card and want to upgrade, will this work via ActiveSync?
My BootLoader is v6.22 and it seems that even with a borrowed SD card I cannot transfer any cooked (or original) ROM images after putting this 4.01.00 ENG T-Mobile ROM over the original - apparently I have to downgrade the BootLoader or something.
Does anyone know if this will work via ActiveSync with my BootLoader and current ROM version?
Thanks...
I've got it up and running, all seems fine. Yay for no more attenuated volume that we had with ATT .

You need the Wallaby bootloader patch, or (more dangerously) downgrade to wallaby 5.15. I did the downgrade which makes life easier, but it's up to you.
The $64,000 question - does this version have wireless modem?

The thread you point to says "For users with Wallaby Bootloader 5.17 version" - does this mean that you followed these instructions with a 6.22 BootLoader and it worked? If so, I'll grab another SD card and try again.
I believe it works the same for 6.22, but sorry I cannot be certain. I'm sure I've read somewhere where people have done it.
Thanks for the information - I'll keep digging around and see what I can find out. If I make any discoveries I'll post them in the forum, as I'm guessing there are many users out there in the same boat.
No T-mobile number, try this link and see if it takes you directly to the download page.

Getting my XDA updated!

Hey, first post, n first i wanna say thanks! The unlock app worked a treat, i now have 3 XDA v1's to sell, and one for my self, all unlocked!
So, onto my problem...
I have a plain (unlocked) XDA which ive been using religiously, and i want to update it to ppc2003. So i have 2 questions.
1. o2 have the update software on their website. Is it an upgrade to 2003?
2. If the above is a big NO. Where can i purchase the upgrade?
One little niggle tho, if i update it to 2003, will i lose the 'unlocked' status on the phone? Or is it unlocked for good?
Reference stuff so you guys dnt have to ask:
ROM VER: 3.17.03
RADIO VER: 4.21.00
Many thanks guys!

Answer
1: I personally don't know this, someone else can answer im sure.
2: You can get the update here (cook your own ROM) http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
Finally I don't think it will be relocked after being unlocked, but again the experts can answer better than I. Good Luck.
Okay, so the second link gives me all these options to make roms. Thing is, i have no idea what to pick for version etc once ive picked pocketpc2003.
Anybody able to shed some light?
DB
EDIT: Bit the bullet, updating now using what i THINK is the right rom. Will let you know.
EDIT: Seemed to work ok. For some reason tho, on every reboot, i get some error bout an app not being compatible with ppc2003. So im rebuilding a virgin ROM and will go from there.
EDIT: Same problem, this rom has nadda but a new bootscreen, today screen, and the 'reg-hacks'. I'm all out of ideas.
'This program only works with Windows Mobile 2003 (4.20.1081)
Its one of the reg hacks that is the problem, cant remember which one though.
Disable
Code:
Fix 'multiple resets make device slow' bug (not A.30.0x or 4.01.1x)
This should cause the problem. Or delete manually the file wm03hotfix from the startup of your device....

Excellent.
Now i know what the problem is, i'll back everything up, and make me a new ROM tonight.
Cheers again guys,

I would like some clarification

Hi everyone,
My girlfriend just bought me a Cingular 8525 last month and it came with the stock ROM which is 1.34.502.1, I would like to upgrade it to a newer version or even WM6. I have been reading the Wiki and searching the forum for the last two weeks and now I think i'm ready for the flashing, but would like some clarification from you guys before I go flash my phone. From what I understand, these are some steps I need to do:
1) HardSPL has more advantages over SuperCID, so I'll go with HardSPL by doing this guide
2) Since I have Radio version 1.16.00.00, I want to upgrade it to this 1.38.00.10 version. I don't know how to check my HTC_BOOT, I tried to do this, but it gives me the massage : Command Error. However, from reading the Wiki I believe my HTC_BOOT is 107. Here pof said "This radio has HTC_BOOT 0108", does this mean after I upgrade my HTC_BOOT will be 108
3) then just download any ROM or WM6 ROM and upgrade it using ActiveSync
please help me out and thank you very much for reading.
By the way, after I upgrade does the Extended ROM stay the same as the stock version.
Thank you
well this is what i did, i just got my 8525 today...superCID and HardSPL, i did both of them, dont know why, dont know if i had to, but i just did it...then i installed WM6(XDA-Live) and then i wanted to update to the new radio ROM, so i did the hardspl 1.10oli, and then ran the update for the new radio...i dont know if i took the long way and did extra steps, but what ever i did, it worked...

Somehow, I doubt it.
There's already a thread on this VERY BOARD, with a nearly identical question. Why, oh why, can't you just actually search first?
In order to get to this board, you had to pass near one that was called Wizard Mobile 6. It's on the same freakin' website as this board!!!
//Sorry, but twice in a row, man. Twice in a row.

Your phone is CID locked,in order to upgrade you got to have it CID unlocked, now if you have G3 device, then follow the unlocking guide and how to upgrade guide posted as stickies in the 'wizard upgrading forum',but if you have a G4 device,it cannot be Cid unlocked, but there's a method 'SoftSPL' or 'HardSPL' in the G4 forum.Read and follow the guides to upgrade to latest wm 6 Roms.
Good Luck

Please Help Need to find DEV firmware for X10 prototype

Hello,
Sorry for disturbing but I really need a firmware pack for a prototype X10.
I received it for testing, and it seems someone flashed a generic stock firmware on it.
The result - a beautiful x10 with no network access, it can not register to any network provider.
If anyone has such a firmware, please PM me.
Thank you all

Maybe you need to enter the network setting (aka APN)? If that is not the problem then go here.

no, that is not the case.
Thephone is a prototype, and it can not use the network at all with shiped rom - meaning no voice at all - it acts as if it was in "airplane mode".
Thank you for your opinion, anyway
Hello Agarthian,
what SI (CDF) does the prototype have (Label below the battery)?

Hi again,
I´ve flashed such a prototype (exactly the same type/data as yours) with a DE/CH generic software version (CDF/SI: 1235-7836). Only limitation of the prototype board is that Bluetooth is not implemented and speaker is weak.
Good luck - Nonixnarrez
Is there any way you could give me that specific firmware? I searched for it but i was unable to find it.
Would be most grateful if you could upload the file somewhere and PM me the download link.
Thanks in advance

Thank you, flashed this firmware but it seems that the problem was not caused by the firmware after all.
The phone still asks for "sim network unlock pin" - the phone is not network locked, being a prototype. The other X10's we received are just fine, this one just refuses to use any sim card.
Any other ideas? I'm running out of them.
Hello Agarthian,
I'm sitting here looking at the lovely X10i prototype that a major-manager at SE gave me some time back. It irritates me hugely not to be able to upgrade it to 2.1 and so I was wondering if this is what You have done/are attempting? If so, have You been successful?
Cheers/M

Hi.
I have 2.1 on it, but this huge problem about not being able to use any SIM card in it. I really don't know if it originally came with 2.1, because someone else had it for testing before me, and I have no info about what happened to it so far.
Thanks

Well my phone, with a higher SI-number than Your's (if that has any relevance to age) was certainly delivered with the 1.6 it is still running. So probably someone has done a manual upgrade of some sort on the phone to get it to 2.1. Have You spoken with SE support? I had a X10 Mini Pro that they actually took pity on and upgraded for me. It probably helped that I live in Stockholm and had an SE lab here close-by... No such service-mindednes this time round, though....
Thanks/M
