Services.exe problem XDA II Mini - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi all,
I have previously developed an application for the XDAII which is implemented using Windows CE Services.exe functionality to operate as a background service. This service (more accurately a .dll) runs quite well on the XDAII even when the device goes into suspended mode.
I recently tried porting the application to the XDAII Mini, although the service runs correctly when the device is active when in suspended mode the service gets no CPU time at all.
The XDAII Mini is meant to have a faster processor than that of the XDAII and better power management. I am hoping that Microsoft did not achieve these claims by preventing any CPU time to services at all when in suspended mode.
Has anyone experienced these difficulties or have developed for the XDAII Mini at all?
Cheers Gerard

Is anyone aware of some XDA II developers contacts for which I could get some further assistance on this matter? O2 only provide "Help Desk" support for their devices..
Cheers Gerard

Help with Com-Ports / GPS Device

Hello everybody !!
I am a newbie with my 02 XDA II device and also new to this (great)forum. I've learned quite a lot about my PPC on this site but now I've got a problem I wasn't able to solve yet:
I recently bought a Royaltek 2000 Sapphire GPS Device (Sirf II chipset) which connects by wire to the serial port of my XDA II.
When I first connected both devices it all worked out with the Software I installed for testing (GPS Dash/VisualGPSce).
Due to problems with my car cigarette lighter (from which I get the power to operate both devices) which I tried to fix - I might have damaged or destroyed my GPS device.
I always get the message that com port 1 cannot be opened.
Now I wonder whether this is because I might have destroyed my gps device or because some other program is blocking the com-port (as the software suggests).
My question therefore is: How can I find out whether or not any other programs are blocking my com-ports. Is there software out there to check on the Com-Port status ?
I just wanna make sure that the problem lies within my GPS Device before I throw it away. If you know of any method to test the GPS Device's functionality itself - I'm certainly interested in that as well.
Thanks in advance for any advice on my problem.
Go to settings/connections/beams and make sure the incoming beams box is UNCHECKED.
Thanks for helping me with my problem. Your advice worked out fine. I didn't expect this problem to be solved that easily. Thanks folks !

Blackberry Connect - any news on WM05/XDA mini?

Scott
A question, that is also interesting for me...
Nobody with news about it ?
I´m strongly interested, too, because my BES4 is still idle
Bye, Pyro
I dont know about WM5 software, but I have the 2003 software on another PC.
I think the WM5 software is buss BES4.0 and the 2003 is partial 3.6 not 100%.

Answering machine.

Im looking high and low for an answering maching that is compatible with WM5.
I have a qtek 9100.
does anyone knows one???
It will be very nice...i'm looking for an answering machine too...does anyone can help us?
sorry
uptill this moment i did not find an answering machine for the wizard devices if anyone will help us in this will be great
not on the mda, but works great
goto k7.net, get a free phone number. set your mda phone to forward to this number when busy, no answer (or whatever condition you want it to be). set k7 to forward received voicemails/faxes (!) to your phone email address (comes in as mms) or via email (comes in as audio file/tiff file). all free, works fine..
Due to a hardware limitation of the Wizard, WM5 does not have access to the incoming GSM Voicestream. WHat this means is that you cannot use a software answering machine on the HTC Wizard.
There is no answering machine software for any current PPC PE device (except the built-in ones on some Gigabyte models); see http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1264&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 for an explanation.

GPS Bluetooth problem

Hey All,
I have a problem with my O2 XDA s. I am using an application written in visual c# which is known to work on other phones. I have tried both a Holux GPSSlim 236 and another GPS device.
Both show up fine when I scan for them and I'm able to set up a "partnership" and add an outgoing comm port bound to the device. But when I start the program all I get is "On, StartingUp" I never recieve any GPS data.
Attached is the source code which I believe is a slightly modified version of Microsofts example source code. Any help would be greatly appreciated this is a rather frustrating problem!!
My device is an XDA s running windows mobile 5.0.
Cheers
Jona

TomTom re-enables locked out buttons

Hi all, help required please. Running PDA's (O2 orbits and HTC P3300) in a kiosk mode for delivery drivers to take jobs etc. As part of this system AEButton is used to disable the hardware buttons such as windows and ie - this all works lovely until the user activates TomTom6 (from a link within our software) TomTom re-enables the hardware buttons and the user can then access the internet etc run up a big gprs bill and then deny all knowledge of it. Anyone know how to keep the buttons locked out while TomTom runs - all help gratefully recieved. cheerz BGA
