I have a Siemens SX-56 a usb cable and SD card and while using the Special Edition ROM heres what happened:
When updating the ROM (it said updating on the PC and on the phone), I received an error message on the PC. It told me to unlplug the device, do a reset and try again. I tried that, but the seimens SX-56 still displayed the screen that says upating ROM. Reseting does not seem to work.
I am using the usb cradle that came with the phone. I used active sync to
connect to my PC. Yes, All the phone says now is "upgrading, will take about 5 minutes. I tried flashing the ROM last night. The phone has been in this state for at least 15+ hours. Doing a hard reset does nothing. All the pc said was "an error occured while trying to upgrade, please remove the device from the power source, reset the device and try again."
Now the phone won't connect to the pc via active sync.
Thanks.
Don't be worry.
the problem can be fixed, contact me!
Tommygunz, you can use the sd card method of flashing.

I have a Siemens SX56, locked to AT&T.
I downloaded the new 1.1 ROM, (Jeff's courtesy)
and began the upgrade.
It started, My SX56 said "Upgrading It will take about 5 minutes...."
Then,
I got an error message on my computer about com ports not being available, it lost the active sync connection, and now my SX56 is hung on the same message: "Upgrading It will take about 5 minutes....."
Of course, I'm unable to connect back.
Any suggestions?
I'm trying to be able to use it with T-Mobile.
I was unable to get any results by pushing the hard/battery resets.
Thanks!
"COM ports not being available"... Are you using ActiveSync via serial cable or cradle?
If you really cannot connect anymore, I guess you have to use an SD-card and the bootloader method to get back to a working state. But do try to reset the device and restart Programme A., it may just pick up again. I've seen that happen here once.
Try doing a soft reset then put it back in the cradle, the upgrade should restart automatically.

Hi Alex,
The same thing happend to me.Could you solve this problem?
If yes,can you pls.tell me: [email protected]

Were or are you using a USB hub? If so that may be your problem. The SD Card method works very well and very reliably. No comms outside of the device. I found many times whenn trying to do file xfers to the XDA that for no reason in the middle of transferring a file the connection would be lost.
I haven't had this problem with 2003 and AS 3.7.
USB Problem
Hi Alex and Rat,
i got same problem also, after step 4 my XDA screen become white and hang, if you already solve this problem please send me how to fix it this problem to [email protected]. Do you know how to install wallaby bootloader also.
I was running the XDA-developers-SER-v12.exe from my laptop with my sx56 connected through the cradle beacuase it said to hook up to active sync. During the upgrade it said it couldn't verify a com or usb port or something like that and the upgrade just stopped. Now my device is frozen at Upgrading... and I'm not sure what to do. Was I supposed to connect with a serial cable to do the install. Please can someone give me baby steps - step by step, I'm not very good at this kind of thing. Thanks!
Hi ...
1. what was your original ROM version before the upgrade ?
2. Can your device be recognized by Active Sync ? ... if yes, go to \windows\startup and delete the upgrade batch file and soft reset.
3. Did you try a hard reset ?
No, my device is not recognized by Active Sync. I have tried a hard reset, but it has no effect, the screen is still frozen...

There still maybe some hope! Rerun the XDA-developers-SER-v12.exe and the upgrade should start where it left off, so give it a try.
If that fails your next option would be the SD card boot loader method. So if you don't have a PC SD reader plan on getting one.

Thanks for the advice. I tried re-running it many times, still no luck. It is still under warranty so I sent it back to Siemens, they authorized flashing the ROM. When it comes back, I now have the unlocking software from gsmlocker.com and I will start again.

search thru the forum, you may find something!
If not , let other people fix it for you!
Did you manage to fixed your phone? Got the same problem.
You should download xdatools, program your sd card with the rom, then put the sd card in the pda and push reset while holding down the power button, push the action button when prompted, this will program your phone, as long as you dont have one of the akward bootloaders you should end up with a working phone after a hard reset.

Okay, I'm completely stuck. Did a recent flash of my Tyn to the HTC Qtek 2.11.255. Since I've done this I can't connect to my PC - get the USB Not Recognised. Tried ActiveSync v4.2 and v4.5 and get the same error. Tried it with my Vista PC and get the same error.
So, I thought I'd flash it with a new image to see if it is an image problem.
Created a HERMING.nbh file and moved it to a clean MicroSD card. Went into Bootloader and it flashes "No Image Found".
I'm running IPL-1.04 and SPL-2.10.Olipro
Can someone please help.

Edited.
Fixed it. Turns out after spending hours of editing the registry, uninstalling ActiveSync and re-installing it, it was the damn cable.
Never did sort out the SD flash problem. Hopefully I'll never need it.
