i-mate JAM 'handsfree' profile? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hi, can anyone confirm if the i-mate JAM model supports the BT 'handsfree' profile as well as the 'headset' profile?
I need 'handsfree' to use the built-in BT in my car.
Thanks very much for any help.
OB.

It probably does...I use the MDA Compact witch a Nokia CK-7W Carkit and it works perfect....I think the ck-7w uses the hadsfree profile....

Nokia CK 7W bluetooth carkit and qtek 2020 or XDAII

Hello,
Apparenlty does the bluetooth carkit Nokia CK-7W supports all bluetooth phones that have BT Handsfree profile.
Does the qtek support this Bluetooth Handsfree profile or does it supports only the headset profile.
or are they the same BT profile?
Thanks
sorry....
You wonn't be able to use it....although you can pair it the profiles don't match.
I own a bluetooth Nokia CK-1W carkit (has the same problem) and it's been difficult to use with my Qtek.
But for now i can receive calls via carkit. Better then nothing at all (if you don't want to remove the carkit).
You must install the Pocket Bluetooth Tools http://www.angeltowns.com/town/bluetooth/
Install it and delete any paired device you have.
Pair up with the carkit and select HEADSET profile.
Then, when the phone rings, bluetooth turns on automaticaly and pairs up with the carkit, then you press the Nokia button and talk.
It works for receiving calls through loudspeaker only.
I've contacted the author of the Pocket Bluetooth Tools and he already knows this bug and should be fixed next release.
Thanks for your answers.
Apparently this new nokia carkit has the pretency to be universal.
If the BTtools can help older carkits, I suppose we can expect that we may make this new one work with the qtek.
Or you can try the Ericssion HCB-30. I have that installed and it works everytime. Now all I need to figure out is how to boost the antenna power of the XDA unit
he HCB 30 works fine. I'm testing now a techart carkit.
Does any one have tested this nokia carkit?
This could be a very good alternative for BT carkits.

About the bluetooth

Hello,
I wonder if the i-Mate Jam can make 2 bluetooth connections at se same time. I explain myself. I want to make a BT connection with my GPS and also with my BT Handsfree Car Kit.
If this is possible I can use the TomTom soft earing the indications trought the speakers of the car.

Yes it can, I use the TomTom Bluetooth GPS and the BT Jabra 200 headset at the same time with no problems.
I use the standard magician bluetooth stack, no tools or upgrades or anything.
I can confirm this. I tried it with a TomTom Bluetooth GPS and a Jabra BT-250. It worked with the standard bluetooth stack.

Nokia Bluetooth Carkit

How can I get to work Nokia Bluetooth carkit CARK112 with Magican?
I have read that Nokia carkit uses handsfree profile but Magican has only headset profile by default. What options are there?
I have tried Pocket Bluetooth Tools (http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html) but it skips the icon screen when pairing, so no use.
Please help.
FWIW - When I bought my Jam, I was told by the local agent that the Nokia car kit was not compatible with it!!
ck 1w car kit problem
Hi there,
I ahave a problem connecting my mda compact with my nokia ck-1w bluetooth in car kit. I have posted my problem in the magician upgrading forum. Someone suggested that upgrading the rom and radio version might do the trick as they were using the same devices without any issues.
Hope this helps

Definitive answer on Bluetooth and carkits

After reading and trying nearly everything I have read on these and other forums I am still unable to get my XDA II to work with my bluetooth handsfree kit, The handsfree kit is a Nokia CKW-1, I have installed Bluetooth tools and tried this route but that didnt/doent work, I am running xda2.hery.mod.a Rom 2.06.00WWE Radio 1.18.00 Protocol 1.337.38, I am more than happy with it all aprt from the fact I have to carry another phone to connect my carkit, and then end up switching sims all day long so I can use the XDA for remote desktop and then taking it out whilst I am on the move so I can take calls
Any pointers at this stage would be greatly appreciated
TIA
Orinoco
I have the exact same problem with my motorola h700 carkit!!!
I have the version of rom on qtek2020.
P.S: The headset of platronics works fine...
Plz check this forum as there are many old threads on the BT carkit issue.
The (standard) MS BT stack on Himalaya does NOT support the handsfree profile that most carkits use.
It only supports the headset (for...headsets) and serial-port profiles (for e.g. gps).
There is a Parrot carkit that can be configured to use the headset profile however.
Himalaya was one of the first devices to use the MS BT stack. Nowadays with WM5 everybody is and now they also support more profiles (incl. handsfree)
Upgrade to the WM2003SE (Second Edition) ROM from buzzdev.net. That supports "handsfree" profile as well as headset. It works just great with my Parrott bluetooth car kit, two Nokia & Motorola bluetooth ear pieces and my TomTom bluetooth GPS!
(Use WM2003SE rather than WM2005, as this will still run all your existing WM2003 applications whereas some WM2003 apps don't work on WM2005 (such as the Safecom wifi card or Tom Tom Navigator v3)
youre right if you mean the 2.20.07 (chinese translated to english) rom.
That one does support headset, handsfree and serial port.
