How to get rid of the "beep" sound of the G (GPRS) - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi all,
Is there any way (maybe a registry value modification) to get rid of the "beep" sound which takes place when the unit finds a GPRS connection?

One of the reg. strings under the HKCU\Control Panel\Notification, called "Default". This effects your signal found beep and GPRS beep. Although you can change this sound, you can even delete it by blanking the string feild!! 8)

I blanked this field.
The GPRS found sound did disappear but now every time GPRS is found, it vibrates for a couple of seconds. How can I stop that.

Ok... under the same string I mentioned earlier. Creat new key "New String Value" and give it a name "Default" and a value of any name, I have mine "System Notification".
As you close your Reg.Edit, go to the Sound panel and you shall find the same there. Do whatever you please there as a light flash, vibrate or any combination...
Happy to help..

Simple registry help please?

:x
Hi Everybody!
Please could somebody help me get rid of the sms sent message?
I have installed PHM reg edit and done the following :
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox
Create a new key with the name Settings
Enter Settings
Add a new DWORD Value with the following values
Name: SMSNoSentMsg
DWORD Data: 1
Base: Dec
Perform a soft reset
It didn't work???
What did I do wrong?
Thanks for any replies in advance.
{>
did you restart you PPC about 5 mins after you did the change? If not try doing the change waiting about 5 mins then reset and i should work!!! most reg changes need to reset before there work!
When making registry changes simply turn off the device by holding down the power button. That will force the write.
taken from somewhere in this forum:
Use a registry editor and go to:
HKCU\control panel\notifications\default\options
change the dword value to whatever suits your needs.
here are the following dword value and corresponding results:
0 - show icon
1 - show icon and play notification sound
2 - show icon and vibration
3 - show icon and vibration and play notification sound
4 - same as 0
5 - same as 1
6 - same as 3
7 - same as 3
8 - show icon and notification bubble
9 - show icon and play notification sound and show notification bubble
10 - show icon and notification bubble and vibration
11 - show icon and play notification sound and show notification bubble and vibration
Taken from WM5_Tweaks_Other
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\SMSNoSentMsg = 1 (DWORD decimal) is the actual key you need ( you forgot the settings key)
Sorry Guys I told you I was thick!
I've tried again, waiting 5 mins and turned of my machine.
Turned it back on, but I still get the sent message?
Raymonds, In your post, there was no number for no message?
Please help this poor confused man

PS, it's a good job I don't want to do anything special is it? LOL
the message you're referring to is the "notification bubble", which is displayed when you use 8,9,10 or 11. i set mine to 0 so that it's only the icon that is shown when i send a message (and it is displayed for about a second at the top of the screen, indicating a message has been sent). there will not be any vibration, or "message sent" notification bubble, or notification sound to "harrass" you.
try it out. btw, i didn't need to soft reset with this registry hack.
Cheers Raymans.
That worked a treat!
Now wat else dare I do?
LOL

sent message noise, even when on silent!!!

Ive got two very irritating bugs on my wizard.
First one is that i cant get rid of that damn sent message window/noise. It plays it even with the phone on silent or vibrate and with all windows noises/alerts turned off. Its very annoying when trying to send a text quietly.
Second is ive got a 1.7mb mp3 i want to set as a ring tone, It shows up in the phone but wont preview and if i select it it just changes it to windows default when i press ok. Ive tried another mp3 aswell and i get the same probem. Ive tried storing it in windows and my documents
Phone is an XDA Mini S
windows build build 14847.2.0.0
2.21.4.1WWE
Radio - 02.07.10.
exRom 2.21.4.101
(First) That is weird. Mine won't beep if I'm on silent mode. Cannot help you
(Second) Try using the File Explorer, click-hold on the MP3 and then set as Ring Tone.
if i correctly understand what you need (first item only), you may have to change the registry... please refer to the text below.

i tried setting it as a ringtone using file explorer, it wouldnt give me the option. is there a size limit on mp3 ringtones?
i even tried editing it in the registery and it just changes back to the normal ring tone as soon as the phone rings! grr!
i did that reg hack first time round, for some reason it had changed itself to 13.
I changed it back to zero and reset, still no joy
this really is driving me MAD
I just did the same, but still get the message icon at the top, and a notification (but no sound). So, I still have to click on notification>dismiss. Which is a pain
my default value is 13, any idea?

Turning off number-key sounds

I looked all over my Pro and the manual, but cannot find a way to turn of the sound of the number keys. Every time I start typing a phone number the sounds ring out and I want to turn them off. Can someone help me?
Ok, sorted it out with help from Treo Central. For those who want to silence the sounds as well:
I renamed the registry keys HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf1 trhough Dtmf# to get rid of those annoying LOUD sounds.
To set the keypad to vibrate: Rename Sound to Sound1 and add a new String value with "*vibrate*".
thanks to frause from TreoCentral.
Turning key sounds
To turn Off your DTMF on your Treo PRO
I edit the registry
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Keypress
Find Script Beep mode, change 2 to 0.
Soft reset.
It works for me.
hello i am a little new to all of this. i was wondering if you could tell me which program you use to edit the registry and give me some pointers on how to complete the modification you mentioned above. the key beep annoys me way to much. thanks for your help in advance.
Use a program like total commander or PHM Registry Editor.
Go to:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Keypress]
And change BeepMode to:
"BeepMode"=dword:00000000
Probably a silly question...but if I turn off the key sounds or turn them to vibrate - will it still send the tones when I press the button?
Yes it will! No problem what so ever

[Q] Where do I find these (registry?) settings!?

I'd like to back them up into my settings cab file for when I flash my phone again. Where can I find these settings:
- Screen backlight brightness
- Ringtone settings (ring type, what sound file etc.)
- T9 settings (auto complete words etc.)
Thanks!
Hey dude, I think this is the backlight setting:
HKLM\System\GDI\Drivers\BacklightDefault
Angelusz said:

Click to collapse
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0
Script
a - show notification
f - backlight on: f1, f0 = off.
p - time to start.
c - loudness: C50, c100, c150, c200.
v - vibration. vX, X = vibration time X=0 - vibrate till end of script
w - pause/wait. wX = X seconds.
r - repeat.
Thanks, I'll try those!
I'm not sure about the backlight one, can't seem to change the settings by changing it.
The ringtone key at RingTone0 looks like the right thing, what's the first key for though? (HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring)
And then there's always the t9 settings.

sry, what do you mean?
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring -> Directory (here the ringtones dir, for example \sdcard\)
then copy the ringtones to "Rings" on the card, then write all file-names in HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Ringtones ->you can choose them in settings (you should... did not try that)
could be not very important if you let your ringtones in \windows...
Ah alright, thanks. About the script for the ringtone, I recognize the script I set in settings and tried to modify it through the registry. It wouldn't accept those changes though. Is there a way to make a script that's not one of the basic scripts (as can be set through the settings menu)?

interesting, it works actually... as far as i know its the only way to write own scripts. There is also a prog to edit the vibration settings - VAlert.
How strange. I'll test with it a bit, see if I can get it to work.
Anyone know where the T9 settings are stored?
And how the backlight settings work?

Ring delay registry script

I found this on the hermes forum. I have a few questions related to the registry entry to be made to change the vibration sequence.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-278171.html
Now it was mentioned that the script for vibrate and ring is by default
in the entry HKCU\Control Panel\Sounds\RingTone0
script = av0pw3r
i tried changing it to av1w1v1w1pw0r
Now what happens is, the ring starts without any delay, but then the vibration sequence starts, finishes then the ringtone starts... How do i change the script such that both the vibration sequence and the ringtone happen at the same time?
search for vibro tweak in the forum possibly it'll help you
Install HDtweak 0.5.4
Launch it. Go to Phone -> ringtype and set it to "vibration and ring"
I use french HDtweak so I don't know the right english name...
I checked the registry tweak that this program makes too.
it is v1w1v1w1v1w1pw0r
This is, it will vibrate thrice, then play the music... doesn't serve my purpose, sorry.
