i am using 2 phones now:
1)magician with tmobile prepaid and
2)c500 with my dutch kpn card.
Can't wait to hear from an unlocktool, also i am looking for an intellipad changer.

Can't you just use the unlocker for the MDA II? Haven't tried yet, because i use T-mobile anyway, but using GPRS with Telfort (€ 1,50 per MB) would be nice.

ehh
ok you go try it for me LOL

Hi,
I tried to unlock it but it didn't work.
It just gets stuck during the "find lock code" or something like that.
On the other hand, i didn't kill my MDA Compact so you can try it for yourself.

Hoped to have a unlock option before xmas as pressent but santa claus forgot about me ..
Maybe we get an unlock tool before newyear..

SO.....
Up to now, does anyone know how to unlock the MDA compact from The Natherlands T-Mobile?

Do you think thí could be a solution?
http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/...10001&storeId=10001&productId=12410&langId=-1

And that would be a solution to what?
Seriously, I really want to unlock my Dutch T-Mobile MDA.
I got rid of all the T-mobile colours and skins, I even got rid of the logo's on the case thanks to the sugar cube trick, I made my own splash boot screen and now I want to get rid of the sim lock.
How hard can it be. Apparently pretty damn tough.

Get rid of T-Mobile Stuff
I also want to get rid of the simlock.
But I also want to get rid of the colours and skins of T-Mobile, can you please help me, and tell me how to do this. And can I still use all the programms after doing this?
Another question: Does it really work with a sugar cube???
And what is a splash boot screen???
Thanks a lot in advance!!!

Yes, sugarcubes work.
The Splash boot screen is the first scree you see when you reset the device.

So here is the procedure of getting rid of T-Mobile's customization:
The whole proccess means you will do a hard reset and you will be installing everything from the beggining! So if you don't want that to happen you have to stay with T-Mobile's customization!
Step 1
Hard reset your MDA Compact. Do all the neccesary steps (choosing your country and timezone) and when you get in the screen that tells you to tap the screen in order to start working have your stylus at the soft-reset hole tap the screen with your finger and IMMEDIATELY do a soft reset!
Step 2
Your MDA compact will restart without any customization it will be a clean Windows Mobile 2003SE. With the file manager go to the Extended ROM folder that is now visible and install the following files:
Caller_ID_WWE_RC10.CAB
Camera_Patch_WWE_B15.sa.CAB
GPRSMonitor_WWE.sa.CAB
Java_10.1.2.57_WWE.CAB
MMS_2.0.0.13_WWE.CAB
MMS_Settings_WWE_NL.CAB (This file will install the settings of T-Mobile NL but if you don't install it and then change the settings to your providers settings most probably will end up with MMS that does not work. So install those settings and change them accordingly to your providers settings)
Patch_101123.sa.CAB
Version_WWE_101124.sa.CAB
Zip_Magician_T-Mobile_WWE_B12.CAB
Those are all the files you need to install. For those who need intellipad and intellidialer they will also have to install the 2 files for those programs.

How does a SIMLOCK work?
Where is the Simlock written to? ROM or Firmware (Bootloader?)?
Any Idea? Or ... is there a locking tool - maybe we can lock
the device to another mobile provider ...

Just got a JAMin, not a newbie, but how do I 'cingular' ize?

I grabbed the wizard cab for Cingular and it got me going, but it's still not right. Plus, I'd like to flash this thing such that the cingular option is in the 'hard reset startup' screen ... you know, then one that lets you choose your carrier.
Any kind soul have this done already? If not, any newbie guides for how to dump the rom, unlock it, mod it, and put it back?
I've been a pocket pc guy since the beginning of time, but this is the first non-network device I've bought.
thanks in advance!
I'm not sure you can "cingularize" it. What you've already done is about it, other than custom settings to setup mms maybe if it isn't already. I don't think you'll see it in the startup since it's not designed for the us. It's really better this way though isn't it? No need to "overbrand" it Usually Cingular adds too much junk on their phones anyways.
So the carrier thing really only sets up the mms, wap and gprs stuff as well as branding and carrier-centric apps? nothing to frequencies or PRLs? If that's it then who cares?!
thanks!
Yes, exactly. The nice thing about the cab files is that it saves you having to type in all the settings. From there though you are on your own. There is a registry edit that will display the E versus G if you're in Edge coverage, stuff like that you can do which would probably be on a cingular branded phone, but it's nice not having any restrictions either that cingular would place on it.

Help Required Removing GAY Tmobile colours on Phone etc...

I installed the tmob rom today to find that I'd obviously lost the very nice 3d phone dialler from the O2 settings. I tried the patches on the site which just screwed up the dialler totally.. had to do a hard reset to get the dialler back to normallity again.. whats the best way to re-skin the dialler and get rid of the Tmob branding crap? At least with the O2 Rom you could choose corporate mode...
I think (which is sometimes dangerous) that you need to unlock the extended rom and pick and choose your cabs to get the customisations you want without the customisations you dont want.
I did it on mine to get rid of the tmobile branding without loosing the gps / phone settings etc. Ive never used an 02 rom though so dont know whats what with that.

Try Hard-reset *WARNING ALL DATA WILL BE LOST*
Give a Soft-reset just before (HKLM/.../Runonce/.branding crap.) goes into action.
In other words there's a package that runs after reinstalling/covering from Hard-reset on your PINKYWINKY device, you should try to make
a Soft-retard before it starts.
Have fun Greetings, Credits goes to Pippo
P.s. Try writing down first the gprs/wifi/mms settings by your branding crap supplier in WINKYPINKY.
do you know which cab this is, I could easily remove it from the extended rom then do a hard reset...
Nah - I just fluked it with my Rom. Removed everything that looked from the title like it was to do with UI tweeks and hey presto the thing still worked but without the crap. I guess the worst that can happen with a bit of experimentation is you dont install something it needs so have to hard reset a few times while you identify the correct culprit.

Wanted: O2 Active Software

Hi
I played with a friend's Wizard the other day (XDA Mini S actually) and liked the O2 Active software on the today screen.
I know lots of people have been trying to remove it but I'd like it to replace WA2 and WAD with something that I can use single-handed instead. I liked how you can use the shortcut bar on the left with the navigation buttons.
Is there any way to get O2 Active onto my JAM (Magician)? I know Wizard is WM5 but surely it's just an app?
Let me know,
Cheers,
Joe
Hey Bro..Dnt try The active thingie its a pain in the behind to uninstall and takes a lota space
If ya still want it let me know..
Really? Hmm...
Just wanted to try it out before I hard-reset so feel like I have nothing to lose! Kinda feel like it may manage to replace a few other things I have running which take up space anyway.
If someone could post it that would be awesome.
Have fun bro ..dnt say i didnt warn u.
ciao
Ok, point taken, it's ****e!
My mate had tabs on the today screen part of Active though, things like System and Apps, seemed much more useful. Does anyone know if that stuff is available?
Try this its the O2plus for the Atom cracked for the Magician
the o2 active looks good, not to usefull tho, n when i installed it, i found a few bugs. because i am on PAYG in the UK, i wanted to select PAYG in the UK, problem was that it wouldnt let me. it installed all the internet settings for contract, because of that, the internet stopped working. i also found that it does not let you add extra today bars, and it has its own one, this one doesnt show half the time. when i make a call, it constantly vibrates, that got really anoying, lol. otherwise i thik it is a good app, lol.
??? ill change what i sead earlier, doesnt work on my MDA compact with SPB pocket plus, but does work with a hard reset. does any one know a reason for this? an how to fix it?
HELP !!!Anyone Know how to
load o2 active on to the o2 xda exec and where to get the software or settings to do it as i cant seem to find it anywhere .

removal of orange software on m3100

before i go ahead and buy the orange m3100 version of the tytn, can anyone tell me how easy it is to remove all the installed orange rubbish from it? and will it void the warranty if i do so? or it it best just to live with it?
never had a windows based phone before
cheers!
If you mean the orange branded home screen rubbish that they seem to love putting on most of their phones then this is quite easy, just go into the today screen settings, items, and untick the orange option, this will see you back to a normal pda.
cool! didn't realise it was that easy!
thanks!
I haven't had direct experience with an Orange device but I do know that it is not quite that simple with an o2 device. If you change homescreen, all it does it change the theme rather than get rid of the o2 UI (which takes up about half the screen whic useless links and icons!).
However the solution to this is not too complicated either. All you need to do is do a hard reset and then do a soft reset before the extended ROM installs. This will definitely leave you with a non-branded device, although you might have to reinstall one or two useful apps that get installed with the extended ROM (eg. when I did it I had to reinstall the smart dialler).
Hope this helps and apologies to Nightshot if I am wrong about Orange devices. As I said I haven't had to do this on an Orange device.
To really get shot of it you can soft reset your device after the initial setup but before the customisation setups run. This will stop the Orange customisation running and leave you with a vanilla WM5 device.
Then you can install the cab files in extended rom without installing the orange customization CABs.
You can find instructions on how to access your extended rom on the wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Unhide_Extrom
If you do it, please post your extended rom here (we still don't have the orange ExtROM contents!):
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtendedRoms
nice one.
thanks to all for the info.
pof: i don't actually have one yet - just wanted to make sure i wasn't making a mistake getting an orange branded device that i couldn't de-customise.
thanks!
i've just done it
got a m3100 today and removing the orange stuff is one of my 1st jobs. I removed the xda 2i o2 stuff by registering as a corporation but saw no kind of option on the m3100. I deselected orange from the today options and set it to windows default. I dont know if still having the orange stuff on device will cause slow down. doesn't appear too.
I did this to allow me to sync with my Mac but I now don't have my MMS settings and video calling.
How do you get around this?

You did what? Not installing the customized CABS (e.g. the Ext ROM)?
If so, you need to get a copy of the Ext ROM for your orange, and find the file that is responsible for the MMS and Video calling. You can either search in this forum (not sure if there is), or just guess by their names.
I hard reset then prior to the orange customisation/ cabs loading did a soft reset - the 'phone works fine apart from mms and video messaging. I've tried running the MMS cab from Extended ROM, then soft resetting - loading onto device but this doesn't bring MMS back.
Any ideas?

Removing 8525's Cingular logo from dialer..

Hey guys,
I've searched the forum and wiki (and another forum) and perhaps I'm missing something... but I dont see a way to get rid of the "Cingular" logo at the top left hand corner of the 8525's phone screen. I've tried all types of skins and Fit4cat, and the skins WORK, but the stupid logo won't go away.
Is my only option to remove the Cingular ROM?

Try E-Ten yet?
E-Ten dialer doesn't say Cingular or ATT as the new ROM original dialer says.
View attachment E-TEN_Dialer_Install.cab
that worked awesome - and it's a great dialer too!
thanks so much!
You can get variants on the E-Ten skins here.
Having your Operators Logo on your Phone is worth it if you save 100's of dollars on your phone. Cingular subsidises the cost.
If you dont like the logo, buy a non branded HTC Tytn or Imate JasJam (AU$1200 here in Australia)

He was just talking about the logo in the dialer app. I really don't think Cingular is going to charge you extra if you use a different dialer (though i'm sure they do want ther name everywhere they can put it in and on the device). Besides...if you've got Cingular then you're wasting your money on the variants with a useless front camera (for Cingy at least) and no PTT button (don't care about PTT, it's just nice to have that extra button to map to stuff).
Delete the carrierlogo.gif file in the \Windows directory... Note that if you are using the new Cingular ROM, it is hidden (at least on mine), so you need to enable display of hidden files.
Thanks for all the replies regarding how to get rid of the logo, learning a little something extra a day is always handy!

I didnt get a discount from Cingular on this phone - I bought at market value and unlocked it to use on T-Mobile. I don't know what benefit having that Cingular logo would have done them anyway if I was on Cingular anyhow. I understand the subsized cost, but that doesnt mean I need to see the logo everywhere.
