Sending Files via Bluetooth - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi
I have searched the forum but couldnt find anything (just before anyone bolloxs me for asking a simple question)
How do i send a file from one xda to another via bluetooth.
thanks
Tim

cant you bond then and beam it ?

use file explorer to beam the file

@timb551: You mean you say you have searched, but in reality you didnt . . . . .(couldt resist on this  )
I would sugest to tap&hold on the file to be sent in File Explorer.
Then choose 'beam', wait for the devices near you to become available and 'tap to send'.
Dont think bonding is neccesary.

Beaming
The problem whit beaming is that it uses IR and you must align the devices. I have tested widcomm BT driver and then it works, but then my headset stopt working.

no you can beam without using IR

Get Resco File Explorer
select a file "hold it down" untill you get a menu choose send to and then bluetooth recipiant.

Apparently you can use only one bluetooth function at a time (eg you can not use a blutooth carkit and a bluetooth gps at the same time) so I guess it might disconnect you headset to send the file.

using resco file explorer is easier than the file explorer native to the phone...

sending files through bluetooth ??

hey all ..
jsut a quick question (again)
ahh.. i just want to send files (mp3's,movie-clip, fotos) with blue tooth to another phone ???
how where ??
with tab and hold i can only beam a file (IRDA) to other people..
the can find me and can send ME stuff.. but i have no idea where i can find them and send THEM stuff..
again plz help
Get resco explorer... this is a must have in my opinion... it will give you what you need.
Get your free trial here.... http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/default.asp
BR
Presuming you havnt already tried this:
Make sure bluetooth is activated before you attempt to beam the file..
You should have 2 magnifying glass icons on the 'beam' screen..
The first will state Infrared, the one below should state 'searching'.
Give the device a few seconds to search out the devices (this has never been a lightning quick process on my xda's) and select the desired destination device. Works for me.
Failing that Resco explorer isnt bad either and gives you a progress meter.
(On a stranger unrelated note....I have just noticed whilst doing this on my device with bluetooth turned off I have gained 2 bars signal strength whilst the device searches)
yeah a buddy of mine gave me resco explorer.
and yup it works like a charm
i can now ehh beam stuff to buddies .. yeah
thanx for the effort
ehh now i get OBEX errors ??
ehh what is OBEX ?? why the errors ?

From the Wiki - I suggest you read it!
To change the ability to receive files via Bluetooth (OBEX)
The setting is at 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Obex'
The 'IsEnabled' DWORD value should be set to '1' to enable OBEX and '0' to disable OBEX.
For example, to enable the ability to receive fles via Bluetooth
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Obex\IsEnabled = 1

My XDA Mini can received file but i cant Send any at all..! like contacts,jpg,mp3. I use resco explorer and also default file explorer also cannot do so.
All i get is failed or (OBEX) device not supported or failed.
Pls Help............
To send files using bluetooth on the Universal all you need to do is turn on your bluetooth, open up file explorer, tap and hold the file you want to send and tap onto beam file. You will see a red and a blue magnifying glass. The red one is infrared and the blue being bluetooth.
I always send songs, pictures and other files by bluetooth using my Uni in this manner. I just wish i could browse other phones using bluetooth the way i used to on my BA.

Need better "BT manager" like widcomms. Help!

HI!
Is very satisfied with my prophet BUT where is all nice BT profiles from 2003SE?
Widcomms "Bluetooth Wizard" was way better , especially the Obex FTP profile so you could browse/send/recieve files from another phone or your computer.
Have searched everywhere. Tried all hacks and BT stacks. Like Toshiba Bcsh, Widcomms, AVE, Brainboxes etc ending up with nasty errors.
The only thing I really want is the Obex FTP stuff.
Have also searched for a Obex file browser like "Bluetooth Commander" (PalmOS) but have not found similar software for PPC
Anyone who knows what to do?
And yes, I have went through every page on XDA-developers.com!
Heeelp
Thanks in advance

hi rastamanne, i'm finding that my file transferring needs are being handled fine by the beam file menu in WM5.
You gotta use the crappy included file explorer however, i imagine most people use Rescos.
Anyway, tap and hold on file, and click beam. Working for me fine so far.

Exec bluetooth sending file ?!

Hi guys (first post yay )
ive tried to use the search funtion but its a vbulletin forum which means search is pants lol!
just got me an exec ive been playing with it for a few days now but went to bluetooth a file today and noticed i couldnt?
ive checked the mannual and it says
click and hold then click beam file then select?
but when i clicked beam file it just brings up the 'beam' option (infrared beaming)
so im lost lol
i went to the my-xda site to do sum searching and found out there was an upgraded rom so i upgraded it (thinking it was added and i hadnt got the lasted software) but no luck so im still stuck
but it looks a little nicer now lol :/
Many Help is great help
Cheers.
JollySonX.
it isn't very intuitive.
you have to wait for the destination device to come up under the IR bit (i think you have to pair first?), then tap it to send. there's no progress bar either, which is annoying
well thats annoying isnt it
Cheers.!
When you try to send the file are you using the built in file browser (file explorer)?
and is you bluetooth switched on?????
I am using Resco File Explorer to send files from my Jasjar to my PC.
First of all my PC is paired to my Jasjar. Now when I need to send a file all I need to do is to switch ON the bluetooth on the PC, navigate to the file with Resco which is to be beamed from the Jasjar to the PC, press and hold on the file which brings the context menu, "send to..." "Bluetooth Receipent...", select the name of my PC and the file is transferred. I do not even have to swich ON the bluetooth on the Jasjar. Resco automatically switches bluetooth ON and once the file transfer is complete bluetooth is automatically switched OFF.

How do i use Bluetooth Explorer to transfer files with a mac?

I've tried searching and all i can come up with is "i use bluetooth explorer to transfer files with my mac."
I cant seem to get it to work myself. I do have bluetooth explorer. I would apreciate it if someone could either give me directions on how to set up and use this or point me to a post thats allready done it.
Thank you in advance
Dan
I've never played with it but I think you first might have to configure your Mac. IMHO it's made a bit too tricky by Apple.
Go to the Bluetooth settings panel "Sharing", configure the bluetooth sharing point for the "BT file transfer" option. That's the folder that should be made searchable by your device. Then start the BT file transfer service with the Start-button and try to browse the files of your Mac.
i tried that. It just searches indefinitely...
i tried it a few minutes later and now it strangely works....
hmmm thanks
unfortunately it constantly locks up my phone when switching between folders and when i try to copy stuff

[APP] BTAudioNav: Redirect your GPS navigator program audio output to any bluetooth h

This program can be configured to launch by a hardware button or with a link in your favorite program launcher.
What BTAudioNav does:
Turns bluettoth ON it it is currently OFF (Only Microsoft Stack)
Redirects all PDA audio to the car handsfree or tho the byke bluetooth helmet, etc.
Starts the GPS navigation program configured.
If while working a call is received, we can manage the call as usual.
Once the call is ended the audio is redirected again to the handsfree.
When the GPS program is ended, the audio is redirected again to the PDA speaker, the Bluetotoh radio is turned OFF if it were OFF initially and the program exits.
Configuration:
Copy the BTAudioNav.exe file to the navigation application folder.
Create a link to the navigation application executable in the same folder. For example, in your desktop, navigate to your mobile device, find the iGo8.exe file, and with the right mouse button select Create link. You can do also wiith copy/paste link in Resco explorer
Rename the link to NavApp. For example, if you have igo8.exe.lnk rename it to NavApp.lnk (maybe you can't see the .lnk extension but it is there).
Start BTAudioNav.exe
You can find BTAudioNav (free) in my page: http://beemer.sesma.eu/en/btaudionav.htm
Looks great!
Does it also work with non-A2DP headsets?
I'll try it out this weekend.

Only calls disconnect the PDA audio. I'm working on this...

With Resco explorer it is simple: Hold over the exe file and "copy". Then "paste as shorcut" and "rename" as NavApp

BTAudioNav request for change
Hi Beemer,
Thanks for making this special kind of software and most of all for sharing it with others!
Do you still work on BTAudioNav or did you leave it "as is"? I would like to use is to route all my MDA Compact IV -audio (phone and navigation) to my carkit. That works fine, however:
Is it possible to make the connection with the handsfree-set only when the navigation-lady speaks? Because now my car-radio mutes as soon as I start BTAudioNav and I cannot listen to my car-radio when she has nothing to say.
Is there a way to use it in combination with HGPS-switch to (un)load BTAudionNav, HyperGPS and IGO with one click?
Thanks a lot!
