Help , need to get an image on my xda!! - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

My XDA 1 just flashes at me when i switch it on. Doesn't load up, i can get the wallaby bootloader up and run tests etc... But that's it....
It won't connect to activesync..." device not recognized"
How can i do it????????PLEASE...

Have you tried hard reset? Insert pin or unscrewed end of stylus in the tiny hole next to the headset connector, push once, leave one minute, push again. If this doesnt work you could try flashing a new rom using sd card method. Did this happen spontaneously or did it happen after flashing new rom?

It just happened.
I think the radio stack is corrupt, despite all efforts i can't seem to get an update on there.
Activesync doesn't recognize the xda , so won't connect to it via usb or IR.
The pc will see it as another computer nearby via IR , but i can't look at the contents. It looks like IR can send files to it, but not to specific locations.
It's looking pretty dire

xda developers can u help me?
xda-developers can you tell me how to get over this 1% error?plz
Wer can only refer you to a really large number of postings on this forum. We tried playing with Radio upgrades, but we have not yet reached a point where any of this research is useful for those that have lost their radios in upgrades/downgrades.
Frankly: the Radio Stack Upgrade procedure frightens us: even if people play by the rules, and do the officially Right Thing(tm), things go wrong way too often for us to be telling people to play around. Our general word is to not upgrade unless you know you're fixing a problem, and to otherwise leave it the hell alone.
Sorry...
thanx
thanx anyway you are very kind and usefull people,
My Xda went white, the screen, aft a failed update, I've tried and re-tried the update provided by Peter Poelman. It did not work, stops at 1%... what I then did was
a) restart the failed update xda, remove the SD card
b) Press the Volume button to start it, when the screen message appear, press exit not to continue the flashing
c) connect the xda to the Sync cable, with your PC's Active Sync.
d) Install your Program A, again
e) Restart the xda recovery using the SD card method , follow the instructions that for SD card boot-up... and hope it work
All the best
It worked for my xda which is now fully functional.
thanx for your help, when i try to recover by upgrading from sd,i don,t use it as start up,i just go to explorer by pressing the calander buttom then the action centre the start menu appears then i browse,i'll try to reinstall windows and restart the prossedure hope it will fix it thanx.
ahh,it's not charging it happend with me in other times and programme A refuse to start,it says please connect your device to a/c adaptor, how to simulate it that the the unit charging or bypass the charging test?
Hi Guest,
Apologies in replying late, Im GUEST1 actually, jus regustered, anyway I forgot that you have to remove your SIM card before doing this, u may need to try a few times, I tried about 5-6 time before it worked. Good luck...
Hi 9DIV !
It is true ?
If I connect to activesync and run ruu upgrade I have the error message:
please connect ac adapter.
What is wrong ?

Sebi
Same Here
I've read all the posts on this subject over the last week and I've had no luck.
Once the XDA is rebooted after several minutes it is possible to get activesync to recognise the XDA, but you cannot use the official O2 install software again as it thinks the XDA is not connection to the PSU even if it is.
I have tried SD card solutions, including at least 3 versions of the RSUpgrade.sa some have got past 1% but none have managed the full 100%.
I would add that if once connected to active sync you delete the shortcuts in windows/startup you can reboot and the XDA will quickly go to the today page complete with the startup bar...
You are right to say that as regards to PSU, becuase the flashing software needs to check the power supply, and too ensure that of supply power is not at risk of loss of power during ROM flashing.
You cannot use the offical O2 to install, because that would be downgrading the ROM version and would likely damage your unit.
As i mentioned earlier, use the one from Peter Poelman, prepare the SD card. I have to use my friend's NEC's PDA to write to my SD card for re-builting the unit's ROM.
Maybe can try this (no guarantees)
1)As you reboot your broken unit, till it show the Today's screen
2)connect using your power adpator to charge it full. I have problem with this step, and tried several times(using reset button) before it started charging(i.e. your unit will show continous orange light) when fully charged (green light)
3) connect to active sync and install the Program A. Do the SD thingy.
hope this helps

I assume you mean a hard reset to completely revert your phone to factory settings.
I also assume that the two soft keys and stylus in the hole is giving you the yes/no question.
The alternative could be to try:
Start>Settings>System (Tab)>Clear Storage (Icon)

cheers mike...im constantly finding the whole experiance frustrating with this phone...might stick it a jify bag to you to upgrade
i think this is the end of the road for me n hermes,i did a rest as above ,that worked ok,i though before i set everything up again ill put a new rom in it,ive got ruu-hermes-tmo 3.60.110.4,if thats right?,it gets to the screen red green blue white,i presume this is hard spl or bootlocker? but it wont active sync with the computer,so im gonna ditch it,its to unstable for anything, ever simply downloading photos becomes a pain as its always running out of memory, als it still wont recognise my sd card wich has everything on so its usless....back to the sonr k8501 while i look for something else...iphone....blackberry...e71....communicator....these htcs are not simple bits of kit...

The tri-colour screen is bootloader. Once in bootloader connect your device to your pc. The bottom of bootloader should change from 'serial' to 'usb'. Once usb' is shown you are able to flash rom
hi spartan, wots happening now,i can active sync the phone to pc,but one i launch the ruu,it goes in to boot loader then active sync closes down, not connected, also i found after doing hard reset it no longer sees my sd card....wich had everything on it....but i have no card reader/adaptor.....

It is normal procedure for activesync not to be running when in bootloader as phone is not booted up. To flash a rom all you need is phone connected to pc via usb cable. You do not need activesync.
Put phone into bootloader. Bottom of screen should say 'serial'. Now connect phone to pc via usb cable. Bottom of bootloader should now change to 'usb' after a few seconds. You are now able to run ruu file from pc

[Q] HD2 and ActiveSync.

Hi all.
I just a got a HD2 today. And the first thing that came in my mind was "Let's go to xdaDev to get a nice custom rom". I downloaded one.
After that I put the usb and try to make it syncronize. And the problem is here : ActiveSync dont reconize the phone. I spent the last 4 hours to google why it shall not work. I tried to unstick option at "Start=>Settings=> Usb to PC" but it dont work. Nothing more after perfoming a hard reset and reinstall ActivSync.
But something is strange : When I go in the bootloader, there is the 3 color screen and the phone Display "Serial" at the bottom of the screen ; and when I start it again with USB plugged, it doesnt display "USB" instead of "Serial" it's just void and if I remove the USB "Serial" is displayed.
Plz help me to make the phone syncronize .
I use Windows XP (no firewall, no antivirus) and an official Orange Rom. My SPL is 1.42.0000. I just hope there is no hardware problem ...
Some news ...
The HD2 isnt detected on 2 other PC (Both Win XP). I managed to syncronize my old Diamond too, and it worked well. Same with a HTC Touch and a Touch Cruise, the 3 ones works.
I also tried to use Bluetooth to get an Activesync connection and this time, it noticed the HD2 but no way to get a synchronization.
Any ideas ?
Try this: goto Settings, Other (Miscellaneous settings), USB to PC, Enable faster data data synchronization. Try to tick and untick the last setting.
It doesnt work . I'm trying to follow a "GoldCard" tutorial to flash to an official HTC rom. Maybe it's Orange operator rom ... But if you have any other suggestion, let me know
I can't believe that it's such a s*** to just connect the last HTC phone to a computer. The tutorial need ActiveSync to get the SD card ID so I will not succes in this way.
Is there another software that can be used instead of ActiveSync ?
Did you flash any rom at all or are you still stock?
If you have flashed already, Have you tried to go back to the default shipped rom using sd card (not goldcard)?
Find the rom that shipped with your device, extract the RUU_Signed.nbh file from it, copy it to your fat32 formatted sd card, rename leoimg.nbh, put card in phone, boot phone with down volume held, hopefully you get the message on the three colour screen saying something like 'press volume up to start' or somesuch.
THis should not only flash the rom, but also fix spl if it has become corruptted(which appart from hardware errors is the only reason i can see that it wouldn't recognise a USB connection)
Make sure it is the correct rom for your phone, though, correct vendor and region id.
I must say if you havent flashed yet it sounds like a hardware fault with teh usb cable/connector
I'm currently running a stock Rom from a french operator nammed "Orange". I haven't flashed anything since ActiveSync just dont want to know anything about my HD2.
Maybe I shall send it back to the seller. That's so frustating ...
If i dont find a way to solve this problem until the end of the day, I will return the phone.
Anyway thx for trying to help me
To me either the cable or the phone is faulty. Try another cable if you have one, if not just have the phone exchanged.

Ah in that case then i'd seriously consider taking it back /sending it back. Especially if you have tried more than one computer, sounds to me like faulty cable or USB socket.

You must be right. I tried everything and I never had so much pain with my others HTC to get syncronization
I had the same problem not beeing able to connect to the internet via computer. After playing with the activesync settings on the Computer -> conection settings-> ticking on and off some of the boxes->ok, it worked again.
I have connected to three of these phones ( 2 french 1 english) and no problem whatsoever, everything happens without needing to touch any of the settings...is your pc even recognising that something is being plugged in on the USB?
Have you installed the latest version of activesync?
If you have done all the obvious things and it still does not work, the phone or the cable is defective...It should connect straight out of the box with a standard, un changed version of activesync.
Send it back!

PC doesn't recognize (see) my phone

Hello,
I have a problem, when I connect my phone with the USB cable to my computer, it doesn't do anything. He don't recognize the phone, doesn't make any connection nor see the SD card.
I've already tried to clear the box: Enable faster data synchronization, and tried to choose Disk Drive (Faster file transfer), it all doesn't do anything.
Tried different PC's, with WMC and Active Sync 4.5, with different OS's.
The cable isn't broker or something because the only thing that happens when I connect the phone with my PC is that the orange light (battery charge) is on.
I've installed Shadowline ROM, but it did work with that rom (active sync and disk transfer).
I think it is a problem of the ROM tho, so is there any way to flash my ROM without using a PC?
Answers would be realy appreciated.
Thank you.

You can flash from the storage card, just rename the .nbh file to TOPAIMG.nbh and put on the root of your storage card, go to bootloader mode and it will flash.
Your cable can be bad and still charge. I would try a different cable.
Also try deleteing the partnership in Active Sync and try to reestablish it.
I assume you hard reset after you flashed the ROM.
I do not think its a ROM issue.
Ok thanks for your reply.
I did what you sad but when I loaded the TOPAIMG.nbh in the bootloader, it came up with an error and freezes on: Loading ...
When I restarted it It Only shows:

And then he goes to the white screen with the blue letters saying: Loading...
(I waited many times, one time for 2 hours but nothing happend).
When I put out my SD-card and the battery and connect the phone with the USB (my pc still don't see recognize anything) it will boot to the exact same screen as I typed here above but then he stays at that one.
I can't do anything, already tried to hard reset him but that also didn't work.
It feels like im pretty screwed..
Please help!
Maybe you have a problem with the mini USB.
Happen to me with Touch HD.
If so take it to a reppair shop.
Well, I borrowed and USB cable from my friend and now he indeed makes an connection. But no active sync connection. I also can't see my SD card in My Computer. He still only shows the screen that I typed here above, but then under in the white area a little text: USB
What do I have to do next to fix it,
please help
thanks

I am concerned that you screen shot shows SPL 1.83.00, but you have flashed Shadowline's ROM.
It should say SPL: 1.83.00Olinex which would mean you have HSPL installed which is absolutely required to flash a custom ROM.
Did you have that ROM operational and just couldn't sync, or has the device not worked since you flashed this ROM?
Yes, I had the shadowline ROM, and it al worked good. I also could connect my mobile to my pc with the USB cable.
I don't know what happend, I didn't install any other program or something else but I suddently couldn't connect my mobile phone to my pc anymore.
But I wanted another ROM because I noticed that the Shadowline ROM feld a little bit laggy, so I found out that you can do that by your booting with the SD card.
And I know that you have to install hardSPL first, so I downloaded that one from the big post in this ROM forum from Topaz.
Booted with the SD card, and then when I started to flash the ROM he gave an error and now I have to problem that I can't do anything anymore.

I guess my point was if you had Shadowlines ROM, you were already HSPL'd, no need to do again.
Hard reset the phone and try to install ROM from SD.
Hi,
i had once the same problem. No connection with PC anywhere. I couldnt do nothing with that and was quite desperate about that.
But once suddenly it came to work again. I am not sure what made it work again but the only thing I can guess was that I took out and gave back the memory card with the turned on phone. Since then I have never had this problem again.
I wish you that this taking out of memory card helped you too.
Well, If I'm hard resetting, the only thing he does is show the percentages, then he says completed, then he reboot en I'm back at the tri-color screen again.
And I can't enter the bootloader, so I also can't install the ROM from the Sd-card.
And taking out the memory card while the phone is on also dont work
Any other options what maby will work?

Just some points;
Make sure the .nbh file is named excatly TOPAIMG.nbh paying attention to the case of the letters.
When you attempt to go into Bootloader, Holding Voume Down and Power buttons at the same time when phone is off, what screen appears?

how to install updated rom without active sync

i have a tmobile wing and i have vista so i wanted to update my phone with a knew rom version....so i installed windows mobile device center 6.1 ...but it would not sync ,i uninsalled it then reinstalled it no go....so im wondering how can i hard spl my phone without my pc ....and install a rom ...now i tried my wifes touch pro 2 on the windows mobile device center and it works but my wing wont ....anyone ran into this problem or has a solution ...i read a few threads saying hard reset but that did not work
Do you intend to flash with the flash center using the USB cable or have you considered using an SD card to flash your ROM?
If you are using USB to flash have you tried putting your phone into bootloader mode? While pressing the camera button, press the soft reset button below the volume control with the stylus and continue to hold the camera button until the tri colored screen pops up. When it does, look in the bottom left ( if I recall correctly ) to see if it recognizes the USB connection. It will say USB in that bottom left spot if it is connected and you are ready to flash. Ideally you want to be connected via Active sync but it is possible to flash from the bootloader screen.
Consider flashing via SD card. There are many different threads on this and it really is a very simple process. I hear it is also better for flashing because if you unplug the USB cable during a flash you can brick your phone. Just an idea.
Good luck.
yes i would like to flash from wmdc if possible....ill try the bootloader mode first
i just tried it the bars come up and it says usb in the corner ...but wmdc would not recognise it ...is there some settings on the wing i need to do to get it to sync

To flash from the boot loader screen you just need to go through the steps in the flash center. I never looked to see if my computer recognized the phone while plugged in; I just assumed it did not because active sync was not running. You should be able to initiate the flash through flash center and as you go through the steps it should recognize which rom you have loaded and it should read the rom you plan to install (which should be placed in the RUU folder within the flash center). I personally had to do this process about two flashes ago and can verify that it worked for me without having to "be connected" as far as Window's was concerned.
My advice, just go through the steps in flash center and you should see some progress. Good luck.
i went through the process it tells me nothing is connected then i have to exit

I would then go through the steps to format a 2gb or less MicroSD card and place the ROM file in the root directory and renaming it HERAIMG. From what I hear, this is a safer way to flash anyway so this should be your method whenever possible. There are many threads describing this process. The hardest part for me was to find a way to properly format my card in my computer. My best advice if you have a Dell or another laptop with an SD slot built it, would be to use another port to plug into. I tried for days to find a way or a program to format my MicroSD card in the built in SD slot but no matter what I did, it would not work. Finally, after much frustration, I tried a usb card reader and managed to successfully format the MicroSD on the first try and have been flashing with this method ever since. Hopefully this is all it takes to get you back up and running again. Good luck once again; I'll have my fingers crossed.
