Qtek 2020 proxy port 8080 and volano chats - Networking

My problem is that when i try to aces to a chatroom like volano, the chatroom applets tells me that my port 8080 is locked so they can't create a connection.
What can i do?
PS this is what i see when i try to connect to that chat:
You may be trying to connection through an HTTP proxy server. The VolanoChat applet cannot connect to the VolanoChat server through an HTTP proxy server because it doesn't communicate using HTTP. Try switching the connection to a SOCKS proxy server or try using a network address translating (NAT) router for your firewall, if either of those options are available for you. VolanoChat works fine through a firewall using SOCKS or NAT. Your network administrator may be able to help you change your settings to work with VolanoChat.
thanks :?

IF i use the Qtek as a modem for my laptop it works, so i think that it colud be a problem of net front and Jva.
Please can someone help me??????????????????

WAP and T-Mobile

Hi
ON my nokia I had wap access to check headlines and football scores. How do I enable the same facility on an XDA ?
You need to run a seperate WAP browser, like EZ WAP. Search the boards here for EZ WAP and you'll find links to places to get it. Once you have it, there's a great WAP config description for T-Mo at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=3675
Hope this helps
I've tried following the steps given in several different threads for configuring this on my XDA but have been unsuccessful. I've been trying to use EZWap to configure it, but it cannot connect. I think its something to do with my network connections on my phone that just arent right. Can anyone walk me through setting up the actual network connection settings for WM2003? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
i installed the mms from the O2 uk rom... (from zip posted here somewhere)...
i get mm2 notifications, but i cant download them...
any ideas?
WAP using IE in WM2003
Supposedly IE in WM2003 has support for WAP browsing. However, when I set up a "TZONES" connection and set up the AP to ( wap.voicestream.com ) and the proxy to ( 216.155.165.50:9201 ), and I try to navigate to:
wap.myvoicestream.com
It no longer works. However, if I navigate to any "regular" www page, it comes up just fine. Has anyone else successfully been able to configure their WM2003 ( TMobile PPCPE ) to access their TZones via IE using the WAP connection/Proxy settings ?
I was thinking of installing EzWap 2.5 again, but during the install it said it was going to replace wapdrv.dll and I wasn't going to run the risk of overwriting a necessary file, so I exited the installation of ExWAP.
Anyone gotten this to work ???

Eureka !!! You don't need EzWap or Klondike !!!
<Edited - It was LarryH from Horward Forums who originally helped me out with this...it was his idea to try out a different URL monicker. Thanks again Larry ! >
With LarryH's help, we've discovered that it IS possible to access T-Mobile's TZones pages once you've undergone the upgrade to WM2003 from T-Mobile's SITE.
After you set up your connection to use the WAP accesspoint:
wap.voicestream.com
Under Proxy Settings:
WAP: 216.155.165.50 port: 9201
SWAP: 216.155.165.50 port: 9203
You don't have to set the HTTP or SOCKS,
as TMobile doesn't support SOCKS, and the HTTP port ( 80 ) is already open on their gateway server.
To access your TZones homepage, just open IE, and enter:
wsp://wap.myvoicestream.com
apparently entering:
http://wap.myvoicestream.com
will confuse IE in WM2003 for PPC, and
it will say "Unable to find page".
Everyone, enjoy your TZones under WM2003.

but my MSN Messenger don't work

I just tried that on my PPC PE and I was able to sign on to MSN Messenger. Are you sure you have the Connection you set up to access the proper proxy address and ports. Make sure you setup the user/password for your msn account properly, because if you type it in wrong, it won't let you log in.
Let me know if you run into any problems.

Tunnelling apps through ssh on smartphone?

I have a smartphone (Dash) which I use on T-Mobile (USA).
So I've been able to use zaTunnel to set up a ssh connection between my dash (via wap.voicestream.com) and my ssh server. I've set up a few tunnels.
But for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to configure apps to use these tunnels.
For example, how to make Opera Mini work through this tunnel? Google Maps?
Yes, I am aware of the epc workaround, but I'd like to figure our this other method as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Judging from the zaTunnel screenshots/documentation, you can only tunnel 1 port at a time. What you would need to do is run a HTTP proxy on your "ssh server" and tunnel that port through, and then point your applications to the new port. (IP of 127.0.0.1, with a port of whatever you put)
But why do that? If you have your settings correct, Opera Mini and Google Maps should work without any tunneling, because T-Mo's web proxy will let that traffic through.
You mean, using wap.voicestream.com, with proxy 216.155.165.50:8080, Google Maps and Opera Mini will work? I thought I tried that and found it didn't work.
Actually, ZATunnel allows you to set up as many port forwards as you want, but all through a single ssh connection.
dont use your providers proxy
set up your http proxy on your server at the end of the tunnel and have it listen on a port - eg. 8080
setup a tunnel from 8080 to 8080
then configure your proxy in the app to use proxy 127.0.0.1:8080

Yes, thanks for the reply. But is exactly that last step that I do not understand how to do. Howe do you configure the proxy "in the app"? For example, how do you specify a proxy for Google Maps or Opera Mini?
