start bluetooth activesync shortcut - Networking

is there a way to make a shortcut to start a bluetooth activesync connection? it would be real useful with software that lets you display shortcuts on the today screen, since all ud need to do is hit the shortcut, and ur connecting via bluetooth.
i hate having to start activesync > go into tools > then connect via bluetooth all the time. is it possible to make it go in one click?
thanks!

I do it by going to the Bluetooth Manager on the toolbar.

ActiveSync via Bluetooth
Go to Settings->System->Bluetoothsettings
Tap on start->check on
Tap on bonded devices -> delete your paired device
Tap New to pair again
Tap on the found device and tap next
Enter your pin on both sides
Tap on Finish
You should now get a dialog box with a message like " Bluetooth Activesync setup complete!" (don't know it in German)
Tap OK
Tap OK gain
Tap OK again
Tap start -> ActiveSync -> Tap Tools -> Tap Connect via Bluetooth
And watch your desktop bluetooth program for messages. From now it should work like a charm.

i dont get this dialog active sync complete it just show me the pcname at bottom of the new button.
I found out, that BT Sync just work if i play around with the connections settings! QTEK: Start>Settings>connection>connection>advanced>network and create new bluetooth connection for both entrys even if iWM dont keep the BT comfiruration saved. But after doing this BT-Sync worked for me. Maybe doing this force Windows Mobile to start or activate somethink that allow BT-Sync to work.

Browse Internet by Bluetooth

I cant get into Internet via bluetooth connection after I upgrade ROM to v12.
does anybody have the same problems?
I can report that I didn't have problems, but setting it up was a pain in the ass.
Someone else has asked the question, and I wrote a walkthrough on how it was resolved...

Yeah. I wanted it also.!!
Since vijay555 probably busy w/ his wedding, let me try to help here:
1. On the PC side, make sure "Allow connections to one of the following:" is checked on ActiveSync's connection setting, and the right Com number is selected. (I assumed it's done since U could connect before)
On yr PPC:
2. Start > Setting > System > Bluetooth Setting, check everything and click "start" on ActiveSync Bluetooth setting.
3. Step 2 should bring up the other bluetooth setting page, click device, and add yr PC as a new device.
4. After finish the adding, start ActiveSync on yr PPC, click "Tools" > use bluetooth connection.
5. If U could activesync w/ BT, then U should be able to browse internet too.
OR you could remove that crappy bt stack and replace with one of your own favorites
i use toshiba stack + widcomm on my pc, works like a charm....not able to bluejack anymore :'(

How to synchronise via bluetooth using activesync 4.1?

Good morning
Can someone please tell me how to synchronise XDA Exec via bluetooth using Activesync 4.1. I do not have Win XP SP2 installed and do not want to install it (If I can help it!!!!!!). I have spent sometime trying to work it out but have not had any luck.
A detailed post will be very much appreciated.[/b]
I take it no one knows or no one syncs their Exec via bluetooth!!!!!! Anyway, if I have worked it out, if someone would like to know please do not hesitate to ask.
Synchronising via bluetooth is a breeze, its beautiful. Cuz when u sync via cable your machine starts charging your device too and if I am not mistaken, keep on charging and taking it off witout full charge your battery gets damaged. Please correct me if I am wrong.
But when u sync via bluetooth u dont have to worry about the battery getting damaged and dont have to worry about those messy cable(s).
Setup Instructions
Step 1:
- Go to BT Settings on PC and enable "New Incoming Connection"
- On my PC it opens up "COM3"
Step 2:
- Open up Activesync in PC
- Go "File" -> "Connection Settings"
- Enable "Allow connection settings to one of the following:"
- Select same COM port as enabled in Step 1
Step 3:
- ON PPC, go "Start" -> "Settings" -> "Connections" -> "Bluetooth" -> "Devices"
- Select "New Partnership"
- Your PPC will start scanning for new devices...
Step 4
- On your PC a window will pop up asking you to input a PIN
- I find I have to click the BT icon in my PC taskbar to make the window appear, but that's just me
- Choose any 4-digit combination
Step 5
- On your PPC, you will then get a request to enter the PIN you used for the PC
- Once entered, the "Partnership Settings" window opens on your PPC
- It displays "Activesync" selected
- Choose "Save" (bottom right) and you're done!
To initiate a BT Activesync:
- On PPC, go to "Activesync" -> "Menu" -> "Connect via Bluetooth"
BT works at about 1Mb/sec, as opposed to USB at 11Mb/sec, so you lose on speed, but I haven't really noticed much difference, myself.
Also, I don't have BT Activesync set up at the mo, and haven't set it up in a while, so may have missed a thing or two - but with this guide and a little common sense (and Google) you should be right.
Many thanks for all your help. I managed it few days back. It was near enough the same procedure.
Anyway thanx for all your help.
Currently I am working on VPN and Terminal Service Client. I can do everything inside my local area network, but when I am using WiFi hotspot, Dial Up and GPRS I cannot connect to my work network. There is allot about it in this forum but very little seems to work.
Callyou.
nice one
Good, clear instructions. For some reason I couldn't get the activesync service available on the BT connection, but followed the above and it appeared.
Many thanks. This has solved my USB connection issue after a reflash...

I'd love to be able to sync via bluetooth, but activesync doesn't appear as an option. Only Hands free and dial up networking.
Have i missed something? Why is this such a complicated thing to achieve? It's ridiculous!!!
Thanks, Ash
I have different steps done but it's quite stable and high repeatability.
1: PC site, enable bluetooth and check "discoverable".
2: PPC site, open ActiveSync and click "Connect via bluetooth", if it's the first time to establish the connection, PPC will ask "there is no available Activesync port defined, would you like to define..." something like that.
3: Choose "Yes" of course, the the common bluetooth setting "partner" tab will appear, click "new devices".
4: Once found the PC, PC site will show the message to complete the pairing process.
5: Once paired, PC site will have another message showing that PPC is goting to connect through the Activesync port, then click on the pop-up message at the right-bottom corner, then choose "always allow the connection" in the newer pop-up menu.
6: Wait for PPC site to finish(taking quite long time like freeze), then there are few ports available, then check the "ActiveSyne" and complete the setup. If there is only "Serial" available instead of "ActiveSync", click "Refresh" button and repeat the step 5~6.
BTW. My PC is WinXP Professional SP2, unbranded BT sticker with Widcomm 1.4.2 Driver. PPC is Orange UK 1.30.90 WWE Version.
is this procedure the same with sharing the pc's internet connection via bluetooth to the xda exec?

Autosync with bluetooth

Hi, I've enabled an ActiveSync connection with my Trinity and my computer via bluetooth..
What I really want though is to have it connect automatically once I'm within range and everything is on, how would I do this?
Thanks for any help!
Hi, How did you manage to sync via Bluetooth.
Thanks
Haven't done this yet, I need to buy a dongle... but according to the info I've read you need to setup a pan service that is the equivilent of a wifi ad hoc connection...

Question for El_Mariachi
So, you have your PPC rigged up to sync through bluetooth each time you put it in the cradle? That's my goal, but I'm having some trouble you might be able to help with.
Here's my situation:
- PC and PPC are paired
- Sync is possible through bluetooth manually
- In the Activesync program on the PPC I go to Menu>Connections>
The "Synchronize all PCs using this connection:" box is ticked
However, the drop down list of options only contains "`USB" and nothing else
If it isn't too much trouble, could you check your registry here:
HKCU>ControlPanel>Comm
And please list all the values under that Key?
I really appreciate it.
Apparently you have to sync manually there is no other way. I'm not sure how to check the registry but let me know and I'll be happy to post the values
In terms of syncing...
Pair your PPC with your PC
Enable an incoming COM Port from your PC via bluetooth
In AS on your PC, allow connections through that COM Port
On your PPC, in AS, select connect via Bluetooth, select your PC, ActiveSync should appear and check the box.
Then connect via bluetooth again and it should work!
Exporting regsitry keys
If you have a registry editor installed, it should be easy. If you don't have a registry editor installed, and you don't really want to install one I will understand. On the other hand, if you don't mind then a popular freeware is fdcsoft's task manager http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=32913&d=1168267333
Once installed, open the program and find the regedit tab. Open HKEYCurrentUser>Comm>Rasbook (see Rasbook location attachment for a pic) and look and see if there isn't a key called Bluetooth, or perhaps `Bluetooth. If there is, then tap and hold that key and select Export. (See Bluetooth Export attachment for another pic) If you zip and attach that file then I can download it and see if it works on my PPC.
Again, if this is too much hassle then it's cool, but it might really help me out. Thanks.

Magician connected to the Internet through USB. How to share it through Bluetooth?

Hello, oh wise ones.
The deal is:
I have my pretty Magician connected to the internet through USB on my desktop.
All is fine.
Now, i'd like to connect my laptop via Bluetooth to my Magician and use it to connect to the Web.
Is this even possible? This would be nothing short of legendary and would be told in stories for future generations.
Thanks.
Come on... Someone must know something....

Connect your ActiveSynce through Bluetooth
If you want to connect your ActiveSynce through Bluetooth do as follow:
In your PC:
1.First of all make sure your Bluetooth Program "Bluesolei" or "Windows Bluetooth" use "COM6" as Incoming Port , if not change it to "COM6"
2.Open Microsoft ActiveSynce go to: File > Connections Settings
3.Check “Allow connections to one of the following”, and select “COM6” in the list, click OK.
In your Pocket PC:
1.Go to Settings > Connections > Beam: Check “Receive all incoming beams”
2.Go to Programs > ActiveSynce : Click on “Menu” Choose “connect via Bluetooth”
3.if asked “cannot find an existing Bluetooth partnership” click “YES”
4.In “Mode” turn your Bluetooth ON and VISIBLE
5.In “Devices” click on “Add”,
6.Select your computer form list and click “Next”.
7.Type your Passcode, click “Next”.
8.A message will appear in your PC screen and ask you for passcode, type the passcode you typed on your Pocket PC click OK, and if asked check the “Always allow this device to access this service” and click “Yes”.
9.Back to your Pocket PC a message is displayed that your Pocket PC has connected with your computer, click “Done”, and click “OK”.
10.in ActiveSynce click Menu Choose “connect via Bluetooth”.
This is not really what I wanted, but thanks.
that is what you want, make sure the share internet box in activesync is enable and then you can use internet on your magician through your laptop.
Instal softick ppp it can create a internet connection for pda/palm/mobile phone via bluetooth, usb...
well, I know what you are talking about because I use it.
you mean to use your Magicain as a router IF you are using cotulla's rom
then it's possible all you have to is to look for the short cut in the programmes
"INTERNET SHARING" and there are two ways there either bluetooth or usb
if you are using 2OO3 se I can't remember what it looks like cuz I'm using WM6.1 of cotulla
