GPRS settings for Vodafone and T-mobile (The Netherlands) - Networking

hello peeps, as you can see im very new here. I just had my mda 2, qtek 2020, xda 2, 3 days ago.... And I have search in the whole networking forum about how I should set my gprs settings for vodafone and T-mobile for in Holland ( The Netherlands ) and I have found nothing...
I just saw alot of posts of the uk. I have found some settings for vodafone for in the netherlands, but those are with the windows software 2002, I have installed my software 2003, so it's abit different. I hope somebody out there is kind enough to help a NEW MEMBER of the qtek fanclub.
I have searched on google, and have found none, Searched for about 3 hours, (lil breaks in between, I ate, and rested for awhile  ) and I really can't find anything...
I really hope that somebody can help me here....
Thank you so much for reading this post,
yours sincerely,
Noobstar

For vodafone :
APN = web.vodafone.nl, user name = vodafone, password = vodafone
email : incoming = pop3.vodafone.nl, outgoing = authsmtp.vodafone.nl (requires authentication)
For T-Mobile :
APN = Internet, user name = internet,password = internet

MMS Settings on Qtek 2020 Vodafone Portugal

Hi i've looking for the forum but i can't found how to setup mms on qtek 2020 for vodafone portugal!!! Does anyone knows how to do it????
Thanks and sorry for my bad english!!!!!
well all pocketpc devices with the same version of win CE and in your case most likely mmc composer are set up in the same way
so it dont matter if you have a qtek or a xda or ....
there are 2 ways to find out how to do it
1 do a search in the network forum typeing something like mmc Vodafone
2 ask them i found all my grps and mms and wap settings from a pdf file description on the website of my phone company, if i had not i would have called them
Hi kirst
Take a look at http://www.litux.org/VodafonePortugal

Anyone got MMS working using Vodafone UK and an XDA II?

Hi
I've recently unlocked my XDA II and am now using a Vodafone SIM. It works fine for making calls and for browing the net using GPRS.
However, MMS won't work (it seems to download message information OK, but not the messages themselves).
I've amended the WAP settings from the original O2 information, to the following so that in 'My Work Network' I have a connection setup as follows:
- modem type = Cellular Line (GPRS)
- APN = wap.vodafone.co.uk
- username = wap
- password = wap
And, having clicked on 'Tools > Options' within the MMS application, I have the following setup:
- Connect Via = My Work Network
- Retrieve Messages Immediately = checked
- Size Limitations (sending) = 200k
- No. of attempts before aborting = 3
- Download on home network only = unchecked
- on the Server tab: Gateway = 212.183.137.012 and Server Address = http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
Hopefully this is enough info for someone to help me out with this!!! It used to work fine when I was on O2, so I can only think that I have some incorrect settings.
Thanks.
BKB
I went through this some months ago with Vodafone 'cause I couldn't get it to work either on my Qtek 9090. Problem was, neither could their teckies. They were all very helpful (large business account helped here no doubt) - but no solution. I gave up !

Telstra Australia WAP settings - Help wanted

Greetings from Australia,
are there any WAP users or Australian Telstra WAP users on this Forum, who are able to advise me on enabling my HTC Shift to access Telstra WAP Pages.
I am a Telstra Australia client, I have tried several Data Enabled Telstra SIMs in my Shift (Post Paid Phone, Pre Paid Phone & NextG Data Pack).
I can acess the internet using IE without problems on all the above SIMs on both Winmo & Vista sides.
But I have been unable to configure for access to any Telstra WAP Pages on Winmo or Vista.
These WAP pages provide "free to browse" access to My Account, Data Usage, News, Weather, Maps, Shares etc.
Telstra Phone Help & Telstra shop staff are unable to provide settings for the HTC Shift & suggest that I visit a a computer shop for advice!!
The page will not open on this site: http://www.wap.telstra.com/wap
I followed this advice below (with out sucess) from the Australian Whirlpool Forum for use on HTC Diamond.
"All that remained was to open Settings > Connections
There was a connection called Telstra Internet.
Tapped Edit My Proxy Server
Tick This network connects to the internet
Tick This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet
Tap Advanced
Set Http proxy to 10.1.1.181 port 80
Then changed homepage to wap.telstra.com/wap/
If you haven't already got a connection equivalent to my Telstra Internet one,
you just create a new modem connection.
Select modem - GPRS, 3g
The access point was called telstra.internet on mine, but may need to be telstra.wap
Username, Password and Domain can be left blank
Tap Advanced and make sure it is set for Server Assigned.
Go Finish and then set Proxy Server as above."
Any advice on this WAP problem will be gratefully accepted.
Regards,
Steve
I think there is more to it
I remeber reading on this site this issue for the Diamond. There is the need to include both the proxy and a cab file to access the Telstra WAP sites. I can't remember exactly what the go was, but I think it was in the Diamond ROM Development folder. I think it is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412677
Also, I think there was something in te TyTNII forum about the cab (upgrading generic to Next G or something)
I check using "Telstra" and "NextG" or "Next G" in the forum searches. I'll have another look later to confirm what I read before.
As an aside, you said you ahve tried Next G data and pre-paid. Is there a Next G starter kit or can I get a separate number for just data? Telstra (Darwin) is not being very helpful with this as yet and I don't want to use my normal phone SIM for the Shift (too many chops and changes).
Cheers and Beers
Hi nbos04,
Thanks for your reply.
I have just transfered from Darwin to Adelaide, the City & Casuarina Telstra shops did not help me much getting data for the shift. I have been using the SIM from a NextG PC Card 1Gb on an $89 Plan.
In Darwin & Adelaide I was told of new cheaper Telstra phone Data plans for Post-Paid & Pre-Paid plans:
Telstra Post-paid phone plan Browsing Packs:
$10 = 150Mb
$29 = 300Mb
$89 = 1GB
I will soon be OS for three months, as Telstra Pre-paid Browse Plus Data is charged at the same rate as Australia when you are overseas "Free To Browse" is still free & there are no roaming data charges for internet data!!.
So I converted 2 phones from Post Paid to Pre Paid & purchased a & $25 Pre-paid (GSM) SIM Starter Kit for the Shift. They gave me a free NextG SIM & activated it. I spent many frustrating hours talking to OS based call centers to get all three devices set up properly, as the shops don't get any money from Pre-paid, it's do it yourself.
The trouble was after purchasing a Browse Plus Pack I got an SMS confirming the old crap Data allowances:
Telstra Pre-paid phone plan Browse Plus Packs:
$5 = 5mB
$10 = 20Mb
$29 = 80Mb
$89 = 1Gb
The TTP Shopping Centre Telstra staff tell me that the new rates will flow to Pre-Paid?, but I am pissed at the moment.
BigPond also have new cheaper Packs with half price data & $299 rebate for wireless device on 2yr contract. But built in devices are not supported ie Shift.
http://my.bigpond.com/internetplans/broadband/wireless/plansandoffers/default.jsp
I sure hope I can get this WAP / Telstra Home pages problem sorted out before I head off overseas.
regards,
Steve
Cheers for the info - I am going to "try" this today as I am likely to keep the Shift only on pre-paid system (I am really hating choping and changing the SIM between phones when I need to do something on the shift Vista side)
I had another look for the Telstra CAB info. I am not a computer guru, but the info was in the TyTNII pages:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=373154
This was someone trying to get their TyTNII going on NextG with the Telstra "My Place" and Foxtel. He lists what he did and the required cab and then details the setup.
Will this work on the Shift? Good question, well asked. I personally will not be doing it, but that is because I use the data primarily for email traffic and some minor banking, so do not really care - but I hope this is what you are looking for. I don't know if the shift in its current Liberated form will handle it.
It could be a LOOONNNNGGG OS post. I am on leave in AUS at the moment from PNG (saying G'Day to the family etc), where there is not data at all so I am just loving having GPRS again (and high spead 3.5G)
Anyone with advice on this?
Hi nbos04,
Thanks again for your reply.
I followed the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...0&postcount=63
& downloaded & installed the cabs mentioned:
Default_Imate_AUS_HR_V3.600.cab
Default_Imate_MyPlace.cab
Telstra_V5.2.cab
I need advice on how to execute step 3 below, would these settings work & what would be a good registry editor to edit this entry?
3) Change the User Agent by editing the registry.
The key is \HKLM\Security\Internet Explorer\User Agent\CustomBase
I changed it from: HTC_P4550 Mozilla/4.0
to: i-mate JASJAM V2 PPC; 240x320; HTC_TyTN/1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
IE is still unable to load the WAP or MyPlace pages, as "the connection is Lost" but Comm Manager connection is OK.
regards,
Steve

I'm sorry, I'm a user and not an operator. I am one of those guys that use the forum to help make my stuff better, but can't provide any useful advice about the programming side (though I did donate - that's my only real support to the actual workers!)
I know that in the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377441
(first post)
is a registry editor (called "RegistryEditor.zip"). After unzipping, it is an .exe file and you just copy straight into the WinMo side to use it (I stuck it in My Docs initially, but you can move it into programs later on). This is the one I use when following DETAILED (I uppercase it to show my lack of mastery in the field only) instructions.
The best bet would be to try and PM someone like Comex (or one of the others) from the Shift Project. Though they are not in AUST, they may be able to say if the cab should (or could) work and provide better advice than I ever could.
I am sorry I can not be of better help. I manage construction projects, and have no clue about anything smaller than a nail (though some of my tradies would suggest that a nail is to small for me also )
Good luck.
Please Help - Shift Project Team, Cmonex anyone?
I have installed RegistryEditor onto the Winmo side, but I am not confident to experiment with any entries as I depart overseas in 3 days.
I will use the Shift as my main email & internet device during my trip through UK, Europe & USA.
I will be roaming on my tiny Telstra PrePaid BrowsePlus Packs, I hope to get full access to the Telstra WAP pages, to check my data usage & add data packs as they run out.
Can any one experienced in 3G Provider Registry Settings please assist or direct me to the correct forum?
Regards,
Steve
Telstra WAP settings (Nokia phone)
Hello.
After much searching (and not much finding) I thought I would post the Telstra WAP settings here. I needed these after resetting my Nokia N95 installation (using the "vulcan death grip" of * 3 Green).
These settings allow browsing of the "Free to browse" section on telstra mobiles. My symptoms were: able to browse everything except the "free to browse" site. After doing the below steps, it worked for me.
Settings > Connection > Access Points:
Connection name = Telstra Internet
Data bearer = Packet data
Access point name = telstra.wap
User name = None
Prompt password = No
Password = ****
Authentication = Normal
Homepage = http://wap.telstra.com/wap
Options > Advanced settings:
Network type = IPv4
Phone IP address = Automatic
DNS address = Automatic
Proxy server address = 10.1.1.181
proxy port number = 80
Settings > Connection > Packet data:
Packet data connection = When needed
Access point = telstra.wap
High speed packet access = Enabled
Thanks.

[Q]Using Swedish Data SIM abroad

Hi everybody,
I´ve searched the whole forum, google and asked anybody I know, but still no solutions. Maybe you guys can help me.
The facts :
- I´m in Germany
- I´m trying to use a swedish Data-SIM with static IP from Tre
- I can´t get a connection to the internet
- Other SIMs from Tre with a dynamic IP work proper
- APNs I´ve used : static.tre.se, bredband.tre.se, data.tre.se, business.tre.se and net.tre.se
- I´ve tried to configure every single APN with static and dynamic IP in my routerprofile
- Roaming is active
Does anyone have a clue what could be wrong? Is it possible to use a Data-SIM with static IP in other countries?
Best regards
