Please help. Error message appearing

Hi. i have a problem with my XDA II. The problem has arised during the past 2 weeks. Every 20 min. or so an error message appears that tells:
"Cannot connect
If you use a modem to connect to your ISP, ensure that it is inserted correctly. To connect to your work network, you must create a modem (dialup) connection or a VPN connection. To create a connection, tap settings.
Setting Dismiss"
This window pops up every 20 min or so. this happens even if the XDA is closed, open and even when i am connected to the internet via GPRS.
PLEASE HELP> what can cause this?
Open Active Sync on the XDA, select Tools | Options and deselect 'Use mobile schedule to sync with this PC'.
THanks man. i think that was it.

Periodic Warning Messages

Hello, I've had an XDA II for a couple of days and GPRS is working fine when I want to access the Internet. However from time to time, I get a warning box telling me that the XDA cannot connect to the network, even though I've not requested to do so.
I can only conclude from this that a program running in the background is trying to access the internet. Does anyone know how I can check what is causing this connection attempt?
Thanks in advance.

I got the same problem. Unable to find out which program is trying to access internet. Any advice for tools that can help out?
Thanks.
Try installing this freeware firewall:
http://airscanner.com/downloads/firewall/firewall.html
It will NOT try to connect without you knowing what is what and giving the go ahead or the Ney...

Thanks. I think this is the s/w I am really looking for.
By the way, 4eveRed, I have found the culprit. It was my XDA2 built-in email account which I accidentally configure to connect to internet every 15 mins.
Check that none of your accounts is configured that way.
Accounts->Accounts->GMail (in my case)->Setup->User Info->Account Info->Server Information Options

Error when connecting Universal to pc

Hi all,
When I connect my universal to the pc, and enter the password on the computer, I look over at my Universal and on the screen is an error saying:
"Cannot Connect
The current connection cannot be used for your request. Please end the current connection and try again."
It's pointing up to the GPRS (in and out arrows) icon when this happens and I'm wondering if it's trying to connect to Exchange via my USB connection and not be able to? It is syncing, so perhaps it's syncing with my pc and not Exchange?
Anyhow, I've tried to figure this out myself and can't. Does anyone have experience with this error or symptom?
Best,
Mark

Help with IE and POP Email access through USB

Hey everyone! I need some help with my 8125!
This just happened out of the blue today, no changes were made on the phone or the computer it connects to via USB. All the sudden I can no longer load webpages or check email using POP. Both give me a pop up error stating: "Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your settings, tap Settings."
The weird thing is that Agile messenger is connected just fine and I'm sending and receiving IMs perfectly
I've rebooted the computer. Restarted the phone. No fix!
I've deleted the phones profile from activesync. Reconnected. No Fix!
I've deleted the sync source "windows pc" on the phone. Reconnected. No Fix!
I've re-checked all the settings I can think of, all are fine.
After all that, only Agile Messenger works through USB! IE and POP still wont work! I do not have a proxy setup on any of my connections on the phone, so that's not the cause...
Any help??
Thanks in advance!

Help using wifi with email account. Pic inside

Hi guys. once more I'm trying to find whats preventing my email account to connect using the wifi connection. It seems as it will only connect through 3g data connection. I've tried everything. the only thing I can think of now is that there's a problem with the wifi modem driver because as you can see in the pic below it wont appear as a modem connection:
can anyone check is they have another option there that I dont?
It'd be very appriciated. Thanks!
i face the same problem, I couldnt send email using wifi except 3G.
Well than lets find out whats wrong! Do you have those same options like I have?
I think that people that have a working email client should have another option there for the broadcom etherenet card and I want to compare.
Why are you going so "deep" in the "useless" settings?
Set your network cards to connect to "the internet", not "work", and set the email client to use "the internet"... and everything will work together nicely.
It does not work that way. When I send/recieve I get this messege:
Cannot connect
Dialed:
The answering modem has disconnected. To check your modem connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings.
Bump.
Cant someone just look and tell me wheter he has the same options like the pic in the first post? maybe he has diffrent/more options?

That would mean your 3G connection doesn't work either... but you did say it was working earlier, right?
I'm on WM 6.5 and the screen is different. But in the options I only have 3, Bluetooth is absent.
BUT that screen is not related to wifi at all, so your problem should not be there.
This connection screen is set by the configurator for your country/operator to get the data/mms connection settings. If those work, the problem is somewhere else.
If it helps .... I only have the 3 options you have. BUT I am pretty sure that the screen shot you showed has nothing to do with your ability (or inability in this case) to establish a wifi connection.
I re-set up my Telstra WAP connection and then my Active Sync settings in order to connect to Exchange as it did not connect straight out of the box (gotta love Telstra!) but all is working now that I have selected "The Internet" and have the right Telstra settings ....
Sorry I cant help anymore ... hope you find a solution though!

I had the same problem last night at home, and quick resolution was to reset the WiFi access point. I know for a fact that it's not the HD2 because occasionally I had the same problem with my old phone (Nokia E60).
However, I too was puzzled by the message you are quoting. If WiFi does not work, the HD2 should fall back on 3G / GPRS / GSM, which in this case it does not.
I'm not sure whether your problem too may be related to the access point. If I were you I would:
a) Turn WiFi off on the HD2 and check that mail works fine;
b) Check that you have set your WiFi connection and your email client on the HD2 as suggested by kilrah earlier (to connect to "the internet", not "work", and set the email client to use "the internet")
c) Turn WiFi on and check that the HD2 does indeed connect properly to the access point (green tick mark next to the SSID). If it doesn't try resetting the access point.
d) If it does, check that email works as expected (which at this point should be the case).
Hope this helps.
The most "effective" -simplest- solution i was able to find to the problem is to "duplicate" the email account.
The "duplicate" accout was created "while i was connected to the internet via wifi".
Actually this "alternative" account was created - obviously with a different "name" - to be able to clearly identify it and different smpt - to be able to send messages via the adsl provider-.
Now when i want to check the mail via 3g i use one account while when i want to connect via wifi i use the "alternative" account.
This way you may have every now and than the problem of duplicate incoming messages which need to be manually erased but at least don't have to make too elaborate modifications to the settings prior to access the mail.
I have the same problem but the other way arround. I mean that my Gmail account won't sync unless I'm on Wi-fi . Through Gprs it won't work !! I get a "Cannot Connect" message. HELP ME
